My insane combiner obsessed friend wasn't done with the Combiners Wars style combiners. He recently watched the old G1 cartoon and he wanted a Cyclonus, Scourge, and Galvatron. But the regular Kingdom / SS86 ones wouldn't do. He wanted a COMBINER. Because of course he did.
So, he easily got the CW voyager Cyclonus for cheap. This cover Cyclonus and it almost cover Galvatron. But what about Scourge? He was never made into a CW deluxe limb. So, what to use? So we went to my local geek store to analyse our options.
Using the old Generations and Titan Return Scourges were ruled out. The mods involved to turn these deluxes into combiner limbs were so involved, it would have completely destroyed the look of the original Scourge.
Then, we took a look at the SS86 sweep and my friend had a stroke of genius. It was possible to make them into CW limbs with the BARE MINIMUM of mods. I just had to figure out how to make everything work. So he bought 4 SS86 Sweep at full price (No Scourge available), a used CW Wreckgar, and he lucked himself into 3 scrap CW deluxes for free. After a trip to an hardware store for some nuts and bolts, we had pretty much everything we needed.
My huge stash of Transformers Scraps would provide the remaining parts.
Enough with the intro, here's CW Cyclonus! His tiny wings were removed to be used elsewhere. Nothing else is modded here, appart the bot's arms joints have been tighten for the combined mode.
Next, the Sweeps. See that only the combiner port have been added to the panel/thruster of the back of the bot head for ship mode. But the port have been placed in two positions. Front and back, depending if the Sweep will be an arm or a leg.
A simple trio of a nut, a bolt, and a washer did the job for each. Plus shaving off the antennae of the leg bots. This is the ONLY things that the Sweep themselves have been modded. Nothing else.
The bots look pretty much normal from the front.
But from the back...
However, some extra bits had to be made in order to have a TRUE combiner. Introducing the SCG Drone:
As you can see, it's the combiner bits combined into a ship. The hands had to be ordered online. These are custom 3D printed hands intended for the Titan Ark. The connoisseur will also notice the Supreme Cybertron Starscream legs have been used.
Notice the brown part in a finger joint here? I messed up a finger so I had the improvise a replacement part. The ball joint of that finger is frozen in place, but the joint itself still work.
NOW, ONWARD TO THE COMBINED MODE!First, unpeg the hands from the back of the drone.
Unpeg the main canon.
Separate the feet / lower legs parts.
Then, leave the legs Sweep in vehicle mode, but with the "bat wings" spread out.
Transform CW Cyclonus in is torso mode as you normally should.
Transform the arms Sweeps partially in bot mode like so:
The combiner feet must be folded into their proper position, the ship nosecone stored away wile the heel spur is out. Note that the tiny Cyclonus wings are on these permanently.
Store the Sweep guns away on the Sweep legs:
Make sure the arms or the arms Sweep are like this. As for the legs, do not peg them together.
Inset the legs Sweep inside the feet parts like this.
Then, FORCE this panel to clip inside the knee.
This should snap SOLIDLY in place. Do not worry, things are flexible enough so nothing can break.
Now for the hands...
Plug them in using both ports under the arms Sweep's feet like so:
Place the legs of the Cyclonus torso like this and combine the legs.
Combine the arms.
Plug in the main canon into the hands of the right arms-Sweep like so:
The Cyclonus gun can peg on a port of the Left arms-Sweep, Plus in the blast effects, and VOILA, COMBINED MODE!
Galvatron is now POWERFUL!
Sure, the knees won't bend and only his arms can move. But Super Galvatron have PRESENSE and his power match his insanity!
I completely forgot to take a picture comparing him to a normal CW, but my friend is sure to do so in the near future.

). I've long had ambitions on doing new lower legs for TR Fortress Maximus, and that requires some hefty ratchet joints.
