I just figured using the actual canopy for the chest might reduce the back kibble.

Looks pretty good, one of the better looking hyper-cartoon figures Takara's made. However it does suffer from UW Drag Strip syndrome where there's way too much yellow. Could've used some grey on the crotch or thighs. And a slightly less cartoon head. I won't get it but it looks like it could be a solid MP.

Now where's Dinobot, Takara.

Definitely one I've been waiting on. Hopefully, some of the other early Autobots like Jazz & Hound will be in the works in the next couple of years.

trying to pin down what's not quite right on this guy. Chrome spoiler jumps out. I can see 3p's jumping on that to give this guy the finishing touch if Takara doesn't make the change.

Other quite minor issue is the black stripe on the side and black deco on the door. If those don't make it to final version, I know Reprolabels can handle that fine. This will be just next to perfect.

I DO hope they put this guy out with a toy accurate head to swap out. It's so vastly different from the cartoon model, I feel it's pretty necessary. Hoping the same for his alternate hand.

Anyone know if that ever showed up in the cartoon?

Wow, color me surprised, they actually pulled off a licensed MP Sunstreaker! And all they had to do was include the option of hiding the engine in the back :lol:

A red version called Spin-Out is almost a certainty. Goes perfectly with MP Tigertrack as those were the initial colors chosen, as the twin's bios can attest.

The problem with all that yellow is that it's just how G1 Sunstreaker looked, even in toy form. Mostly yellow with some black, and a few stickers. Takara could do red on the shoulders to match the toy, but then that would just be replacing some of the black, not the yellow, on the figure. Most of the other stickers are either underneath the canopy chest, or on the inner legs, where they don't do much to change the coloring of the figure head on.

As for the spoiler, I have a theory. It could be due to securing the Lamborghini license. Sunstreaker was a modified Lamborghini in Diaclone/G1. For whatever reason, Lamborghini is very strict about how their cars, no matter how old, are represented in miniature reproductions, such that no "aftermarket" tuning or accessorizing should be represented. Maybe the chrome spoiler is similar to the super tuning engine block on the back of the car? It's not "supposed" to be like that, according to Lamborghini. While Takara can optionally magic away the engine block with some transformation tricks, switching out the spoiler colors might be quite a bit more difficult. Plus, they may just figure "why bother," since it doesn't affect the robot mode at all, really.

If that's the case, I'll put money a 3P will have a silver spoiler out within the year. And I'll certainly buy it.

He looks good to me, but agree a bit too much yellow on show in robot mode. Will add some variety to the sea of red and white autobit cars to date.

What is the Dinobit people keep mentioning, sorry not been keeping up with rumours, but would obv be interested in adding company for MP08!

I wouldn't worry about 'all the yellow' guys... When you display him on the shelf with other bots and human figures in front and behind, he'll look great. :-D

Having a faux chest means they can avoid having a disproportionately wide chest like Sideswipe.

It's not that kind of Dinobot. It's the Beastwars character actually named "Dinobot" that's been confirmed to be getting an MP.

Well I saw the chrome engine block so that's good. The way the gun folds up makes me think it can be attached to the wrist like the G1 toy.

I don't know how I feel.... but I'm certainly surprised to see him.

I like:
-His feet. Not that Sunsurge's were out of whack, but they're smaller and more proportional.
-Arms and hands look great. Posability looks really natural.
-Truly brilliant the way they include the option of it being a normal Countache.

I don't like:
-That head sculpt. Toon accuracy aside, its too soft.
-That space between his chest windshield and waist, and in general the faux chest doesn't look quite right.
-I need a side angle shot, but his backpack doesn't look as clean and tight at Surgio's. He almost looks like he has a but flap?

I guess it's just because people are used to and over that as a negative. Much like how people felt Victorion didn't have enough retooling, but then were all over Megatronia :roll:

To be fair though, we don't know Sunstreaker's transformation. Sunsurge's was such a nightmare that, yeah; if your transformation is that complex and intricate and downright exhausting, what on earth justifies having fake pieces at this point? If Sunstreaker's much simpler, it'll be a bit more justified on him.

Way late to the discussion but wow, I'm excited for this! It looks very finished, curious when the release is.

I'm guessing this came before Hoist because licensing? Maybe the Toyota one is taking longer or has some shenanigans happening. Other speculation - their window with the Lamborghini license is closing so they wanted to get this and some repaints out before it lapses :-?
