Takara Tomy Jetfire/Prime combo

Posted by mrxclusiv Sat Aug 07, 2010 5:42 am

this is my first post so hello to all here and it is with pity that the purpose of this post is of a sour nature, My intention is to attach several pictures to this post to illustrate the problems I am having with the takara/tomy Jetfire from the twinpack if we look at the instructions

Image

we can clearly see that the shoulders of jetfire need to come together BELOW the head of jetfire, or under his chin yes? ok moving on to the xformer itself

Image

now clearly you can see the ratcheting shoulders directly either side of his head not below it, and also his head cannot me moved up to allow the shoulders to come together under his chin, also his head cannot slide backward or down into the fuselage of the plane, what this means is the nose cone of the plane cannot be assembled and moved into place without removing jetfires' head :BANG_HEAD: :BANG_HEAD: Believe me when I say I have tried every option and every arm rotation I know of for the last three hours, the best I can get is the nose together with a massive cavernous gap over his head :-?

guys please am I missing something or misinterpreting the instructions somehow, I have the Buster Prime from the pack whom has been untouched, I hope he doesn't have some flaw such as jetfire appears to have I would love some advice from someone whom has this particular xformer preferably with pics of said area (shoulders & head) in plane mode and a topdown shot of the xformer illustrating the width of the gap down the fuselage above and just infront of jetfires' head.

Will that help at all? The instructions seem to show the front parts you're talking about, rotating two separate ways. I have this set too but I've never transformed them. I love the paint decos and bot modes so I left them displayed that way. Anyway, hope that helps.

That does help yes if we look at this image

Image

I notice a couple things firstly WHERE is his head? you can see the gold piece sticking up that is on his chest that is on mine directly beneath his head where is shoulders come together there is no head :BANG_HEAD: also mine is a different color setup here is a picture of mine laid A similar way

Image

plainly mine is differing in color to the blue white one in the topmost pic and it looks as if the blue/white one has no head between the shoulders (hence it fits together nicely) my one the head is there right smack in the way and I tried once again to see if it slides or moves in any other way, it does not this one is clearly different to the blue/white one the head is where it sits and will not move out of the way, the pictures were helpful and I am thankful for your response. where is the head of the blue/white limbed one in that picture?

Apparently facing down, which would be the top of the plane. The one in the pictures is just Hasbros version. It is the same mold.

Try rotating the uppermost shoulder pieces to allow clearance for the head to cradle in.

::EDIT:: I'm at a loss to tell you how to make it work correctly. Like I said before, I never transformed mine. I can suggest you check out the rest of the gallery here at Seibertron which may be helpful. I'm trying here lol. I just don't know what more to do. Pics are here.

thankyou flux for your continued efforts to assist I can get one of the shoulders to lock into place but this twists the head off to the other direction making it even less possible for the other shoulder to sit there as the head is even more in the way, if you need more pix I will need to shoot to the supermarket for some new batts for my digi cam sadly. I also pushed the head upward or toward the top of the plane rather hard to get the shoulders to slip under it, I applied quite excessive force to it and I am fearful that if I push it any harder it will break. Is it possible that Takara/Tomy altered the internals of the torso to fit a different speaker box PCB for the sound, and this alteration is preventing the head from sliding down the fuselage or off to the side or something, This truly is driving me bonkers.

I have asked here seen the pics here and trawled the internet for an answer, at time of writing I am unable to source an answer, so I have just Reluctantly emailed Hasbro via website transformers.com (URL was on the takara/tomy box these guys came in) I will wait and see what they say. If somebody comes across this and knows the answer please post it up here, I will return and I will read it.

OK it seems my email to hasbro has bounced and is undeliverable wow how helpful so I am back to trying to sort this out still. I managed to get jetfire attached to the prime from the pkg and it looks badass

Have you tried looking up a video review on youtube? I wish I could help you but I haven't transformed Jetfire into alt mode since the day I got him. He has just been combined with prime ever since.

Maybe this can help although Jetfire is being transformed from alt mode to robot model

I just transformed mine to be sure.

It looks like you have the head in the proper spot, but at that stage the arms are very fiddly and have to be rotated just right to get them to stay together.

Jetfire has such a poorly executed altmode, especially considering his pricepoint

EDIT: also, those instructions lie. Jetfire's shoulders do NOT touch, there is a good bit of space left.
