Imagine Shockwave throwing down some mad rhymes while Soundwave lays down some sick beats. (I'm a white boy from the country. I felt really stupid typing that. Is it even accurate?)

Shockwave would consider it a waste of valuable time.

Since I got him and currently display on my desk now, MP29 Shockwave is my most favorite MP Con figure. To me, I would rank him the top MP Con mold that had been released so far. I am very happy with his appearance, chest size, and height. If his purple color was darker, he would've been perfect.
In regard to nitpicking or maybe I'm overreacting, areas that concern me. The ledge/nub where you pull down the panel to hide his gun trigger. I see at the center and the edge of that ledge/nub, I notice a stress mark. I don't know if this was cause by my finger when I pull down the piece down during transformation for the robot mode. All in all, if that thin ledge/nub break off, I'm not sure how I will pull down that panel. Okay maybe with a tweezer, lol. I wish they made that ledge/nub thicker. The 2nd one, is his shoulder ratchet down. Seeing the gap of the ratchet joint teeth whenever you move his arm make me nervous somehow. I hope that teeth plastic is strong. A third one maybe his ratchet feet joint...flashback to MP9 pic.

I don't think he can, check optibotimus' review to be sure though

Here's the pic I took with MP and the G1 Shocky mold, showing the max bend in the knees of both:

As long as he's shooting Autobots while doing it, it's logical

Since you pointed out some good nitpicks, heres a quandary.
Can anyone seat the collar bone area into the upper chest correctly?
I got the head lock with the indent on the back of the neck but the collar itself will not slide in anywhere.
Any suggestions or does it legitimately float between the chest and back?
Thanks in advance.

I haven't watched any video reviews yet. Question is, aside from the light show, does he also have the "pew pew pew" sound effects?

Yes, it snaps up into position. I had this issue initially as well. If you put consistent, but moderate pressure on Shocky's "face," it should pop into place. I was afraid to break things, so I was careful. I think pressing on his face might help the whole panel shift slightly back to allow the front to snap more easily into place. Does this make sense?

Mine has a tendency to rise on its own from time to time. Also, there's a reverse stomach crunch (hips tip backward) that could create a gap. Do you have a pic of what it looks like? This is what mine looks like:

HaHaaaa, got it!

Thanks for the info; just needed a bit more pressure.
Although there is a lil nub at the apex of the collar piece, which if the head mount comes up at an angle, will stop it from being flush.
Thanks again, it was just the finagle i needed to get it done.

Using the reverse ab crunch did the trick. Bend Shockwave backwards and the cover moves all the way down easily. Good call.

So ... time I talked about Shockwave.
When I initially got him, I transformed him into robot mode, and that was it. Tonight, I sat down to watch The Force Awakens and decided it would be a good time to play with him again.
Short version ... good figure, but not fantastic.
The original G1 Shockwave was a pretty good figure for it's time. It just lacked articulation in the legs and hips, and also weak shoulder joints.
Thirty years later, we have a figure that is virtually identical, it just corrects all the issues of the G1 version. I have to therefore wonder, does it deserve the label of "Masterpiece"?
What bugs me though, is that while it wasn't much of a re-engineering compared to other Masterpiece releases, it's that some of it seems overly complicated for no particular reason. Maybe I'm being far too critical here but the legs could have been simpler.
Where did they go right? For starters, the trigger. No longer does he have trigger crotch but it tucks away nicely ... yeah, I make no apologies for any mental image I may have just given you.
The shoulders ... the G1 version had a major problem because of how the transformation worked, it put an incredible amount of pressure on the shoulder joints. I personally had a problem with the joints snapping and I know others did. Masterpiece? Not a problem. That pressure is gone. And I do like how it the arms work in with the barrel.
Which brings up the barrel cover. The first time I went to put it on him in robot mode I had to read the instructions and it took forever. The second time I did it I didn't use the instructions, and it still took me a fair while. What's annoying is that when I did get it to work, I saw how stupidly simple it was.
And then ... then there's the colour. Not the colour I'm accustomed to, but it is what it is.
Overall, it's a good figure, a bit of a simple update to a G1 classic, not the greatest MP figure, but far from the worst.

Nice write up Burn, valid points!
I never had G1, but found the transformation back and forth quick and satisfying on the MP. The legs BACK to laser vulcan mode always stump me for 30 seconds, but then it became "oh yeah, duh" after it happens. As of right now, he's my favorite Decepticon MP, (as far as transformations/playability goes) followed by Soundwave, the cassettes, the seekers, then Apollyon, then MP05

Oh I'm sure if I transformed him a few more times it would get easier.
Compared to other Decepticons ... hmmm ... haven't transformed them lately so can't say how they'd compare.
In terms of transformation, my opinion is most likely skewed because of Ironhide. To take a box and unwrap it into that bot mode was damn impressive. Shockwave? mmmm ... not an overly complicated figure to begin with and it seems certain aspects were done just to make it a little more complicated.

Just picked up Laserwave today.
Thoughts? (Btw, I avoided youtube vids of him)
Colors? In person, the light purple isn't all that light. More like Encore Galvatron. Only this phenomena when images on LED monitors look either too light or dark than in reality. So maybe we should call him "anime" Laserwave. Didn't have trouble with his neck and no more rubber rot!
TT used a very tightly wound up slinky.
What others have already posted I might be repeating.
Body more proportional
Minimal partsforming. I really am impressed how the the detachable gun muzzle is now incorporated to the back pack.
And the shins/feet. Amazing.
No pew pew sound effects. Light? LED delivers.
Lighter in weight than the G1 version.
Bio card is as hard as a brick
Made in Vietnam
Am very satisfied (cross fingers no issue crops up later).
I get the hives thinking what MP Megatron ver.2 will look like.
