Because they dont scale well with eachother. Just like how 2 MPs can be differently scaled, which is very much the case in that line.
Soundwave isnt supposed to be shorter than BB, but the HA toy is shorter than HA BB

But Human Alliance (discounting the DOTM Basics) was always its own single scale class.william-james88 wrote:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:How can two HA toys be differently scaled?

The way I see it, HA Soundwave isn't out of scale, but instead has awkward proportions that render him more stout and squat than he should be. Compare the proportions of the Deluxe DOTM Soundwave mold that make that figure stand in a more tall and proud stature.

And speaking of PERFECT car mode, the ENTIRE Alternators / Binaltech line just cant be beat. Not only all the interior is there with barely any bots bits visible, all of them barely have panels lines that go outsides the natural ones found on an actual car. The hood can lift to reveal the engine. Rubber tires. Perfectly accurate licenced vehicles. Some even have the opening trunk. Clear headlights. Turning front wheels gimmick for the cars, suspention for the jeeps. Many have panels that HIDE THE UNDERSIDE.
Sure, the consequence for these perfect car modes was ofthen a less than perfect bot with limited articulations. But the real goal of the line was to make those infamous 1:24 "collectible" diecast car models transformable. And they succeeded aplenty.

There's also Universe (2003) Chevy Aveo Swerve with his very nice, realistic altmode and his rather charming robot mode that, while not "AMAZING" and kinda generic overall, gives him the appearance of a young action protagonist ready to take on the world.

You keep using that word, I don't think it means what you think it means.
HA is a unified scale.
While soundwave ends up being a shorter robot mode, he is in scale in vehicle mode, and can in fact accommodate the human alliance humans. Any of them. Including the smaller HA basics humans.
I believe the scale being used is 1:24, like most model cars.
Soundwave is in this scale, his robot mode ends up being a tad shorter than the rest, but that's a byproduct of the transformation and the fact that an actual Mercedes SLS is slightly smaller than a Chevy Camaro and a Ford Mustang. Not a scale difference just a physical mass and size difference.
Scale is not size. Scale determines size, but is not based on the size.

Where's the fallacy in saying that HA Soundwave doesnt scale well with HA BB in robot mode?

Because you didnt specify precisely that it was for the robot mode only.
I consider the most important scale to be the vehicle. Then, the bot mode will come as is. But heh, I'm pretty forgiving because "scale" don't apply to transformers... Ever.
Case in point:
This appen INSIDE Astrotrain. A bot that is supposed to be the same size as the rest of the crew.

It'd be better to say that he doesn't "size" well with Bumblebee in robot mode, as its the toy's stout proportions that throw off his height with Bee. They put too much into the robot mode's width that it neutered his height.william-james88 wrote:Where's the fallacy in saying that HA Soundwave doesnt scale well with HA BB in robot mode?

Exactly.
He is scaled correctly. He does not size well in robot mode at that scale.
The Movie gets around this by changing his actual size in robot mode. He's bigger, and has more leg mass than what the toy presents, and based on the transformation of the toy what he should really have in the movie.

They could have went the extra mile and remake those hands AS PROMISED IN THE OFFICIAL INSTRUCTIONS. Especially for a line that is "premium" and "for collectors".

Yes, a line that it SO "premium" that it consists of nothing but straight redecos and no new tooling on any of its figures whatsoever.-Kanrabat- wrote:They could have went the extra mile and remake those hands AS PROMISED IN THE OFFICIAL INSTRUCTIONS. We still get something we never got before right?
This is the first leader prime to have the retooled abdomen, hands and faceplate right? None of that is new tooling of course, but its a new tooling combo right?

And the abdomen, hands, and face combo was previously released in the 2015 Asia Premium Series APS-01U Optimus Prime Ultimate Edition, and which was certainly more "premium" a release than this one is.

The MB line gives a new combo we never got before. As for APS01U being more premium, well it better be, it costs 2-3 times as much.

I never said the head was retooled, only the abdomen. I specifically said this version had the faceplate.
I was saying how none of the tooling is new but the combination of tooling variance is.

For just shy of $100 bucks shipped, I think its well worth the price.
Faceplated Headsculpt, swords, hooks, knuckle claw, gas tank gun, lots of sounds, and a great paint job to boot.
BBTS still has has the 2015 Asia Premium Series APS-01U Optimus Prime Ultimate Edition available for $269.99.
https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/pro ... ode=retail
And I just don't see the the wings, guns, and stealth parts being worth over 3 times the price of the base figure.

At least, you KNOW what you get with the '07 mold. It's honest and it's flaws are right in your face. Never mind that it's cleverly designed and fun to play with.
ROTF voyager Starscream on the other hand have the elbows that bend the wrong way for starter. Annoying, sure, but forgivable. But when you buy the thing, the jet's butt-hands don't clearly appear on the photo on the box (DOTM version). Then, you transform it for the first time from bot to jet by following the instructions... Right up the step that tell you to fold the hands inside. You try to do it BUT THERE IS NO HINGES! So you are stuck with the most perfect jet ever made in a while BUT WITH BUTT-HANDS. Like a giant F-U zit on top of the belle's nose.
I felt like Simba at that time:

This guy is a dirty liar. I can see not only the Dinobots, but Evasion OP, Megatron, Shockwave, Soundwave, and Ratchet on his table right now! Heard there's even Leader OP on the way. I am glad you found room in your budget for these. I think these are more satisfying than most toys we will be getting from TLK toyline and I found the value really good. The voyagers (and HA soundwave) were the same price as Legends Lio Convoy at my Japanese retailer of choice, which is pretty remarkable when you think of how premium these toys are.
