Wouldn't it be totally rad of Hasbro to bring this to the West, retaining all of the paint apps at the $50-60 price point as a huge thank you for having bought him three times already over the years?

Anybody want an Armada Unicron? Looking for a good home. Tore every toy store appart 3 times a week for several months looking for him and I couldn't bear to see him ripped to pieces to make some kibble based combiner! As a bonus, he's Reprolabel pimped out!

Well, as awesome as it looks, it's not $135 awesome. Not in the least. So I do believe Armada Unicron will do the trick for me, unless Hasbro is feeling especially charitable this year....

I'm with you in that boat. I really like it, but 135 after botcon and after all of the FP upgrade sets, I have to cut something out. I perfer him in planet mode anyway, so the new head won't do as much for me.

Well... It is. Although the only reason I mention it is because the legs and shell are painted black instead of gray. And because the red eyes bug me.

The only downsides are the retention of the clear hand and the price tag. Given that I'm going to have to move house later in the year this is a reluctant pass at the moment. If Hasbro pull the same magic that they have with their MP Grimlock (based on last week's pictures) that situation could find itself changing in a hurry. Otherwise it's in the 'someday' pile, which really is a shame as I really, really want this.

I actually kinda prefer the original head. Sure, the new one is way more G1 accurate, but the Armada one is kinda more badass looking, IMO. It's mostly the colors that do it for me, mainly the removal of most of the transparent plastic. But I kinda like the purple on the Armada one, and the grey planet rings/wings, regardlessof G1 accuracy. So yeah, when I compare those aspects, and think $50 versus $135...I think I can easily say which I'd rather have. Maybe for $80 I'd consider it, but not the current price.

Though I'm happy for the folks who are excited about this release, I'm gonna emphatically pass. Having the Armada and Energon versions already, the ONLY way I would invest in a 3rd iteration of this mold is if they filled that cavernous space in his abdomen with some decent sound producing electronics. The blinky-blink stuff alone just doesn't cut it on a figure of this magnitude.
Picture it...a apocalyptic blasting sound for his chest cannon and a "I am UNICRON" voice sample in an Orsonesque voice....that would be wicked.

Looks great...I hope it gets released in the USA !!! Thats the way unicron should look. I have the Armada (Classics) version. But of course you gotta remember the mold is an exact copy of the Armada Unicron and all the features including the extra set of horns on his shoulders, blaster coming out of his chest, 2 instead of 3 tentacles on each wing, and missle blasters on legs are all accurate to the Armada cartoon.

I too think the orange is a bit too orange. He's more yellow-y orange (and grey, rather than black) in the film. That said, this still looks great. Won't get it myself, for the monies, but I do like it.

Dear Hasbro,

Please, please, please put this in the Generations line. :PRAY:

We know that you already rereleased the Armada color-schemed figure in the Universe 2008 line, but this is a pure money-maker and will sell like hotcakes! Fans LOVE this kind of stuff and will buy it. Seeing as how much of a winner the Animated Arcee figure was, then this would undoubtly be a gold mine!

After seeing this pic, I had to watch the ending of the 86 movie. Now I must have this figure. The Armada was weak because of the clear parts, but this looks perfect.

I can only hope they change the planet-mouth too to be show-accurate.
