The Planet Iacon Facebook page has shared some in-hand images of the Takara Transformers Legends LG-02 Optimus Primal, a reissue of the Beast Wars Reborn figure. Check them out mirrored below.

- In the Latin alphabet we have "Optimus Primal"
- In Japanese kana, we have コンボイ (konboi), or "Convoy"

Same goes for Rattrap: "Rattrap" in English, but ラットル (rattoru) or Rattle in Japanese. The next one will be Sky-Byte vs. ゲルシャーク (gerushāku) or Gelshark.

I don't think so, this is fairly unique. Even back in G1/G2, each region (UK, France, Italy, Spain, Benelux) had their own names, but also their own packaging.

I countered this problem for now by formatting the release names as "JP Name" / "US Name" if they're different. Thankfully, it only applies to the three I already mentioned: Jetfire is still "Jetfire" in Japanese.

Unfortunately, no battle mask gimmick.

Ya I never liked the mouth hole, even in the show, and the weird demon mask thing was so strange and cool. Mine fell off and was never heard from again.
I was hoping this release would be the original so I could get a fresh one with the mask. My old one is getting a bit rickety, due to the fact that I love him so.

I get why they're releasing this one though, show accurate and all.
Just glad folks will have the chance to get him if they haven't all ready.
He is one bot everyone should have in their stash.

oh man. legends rattrap is full of win. i cant believe they actually painted his robot teeth white! thats great. he would be perfect if his brain dome was chromed, and his bronze was a little darker. but easily legends is easily the winner, and easily bought

Only in the eyes and mouth. The rest of him looks more like he's been yellowed.

Hasbro's copper is a bit closer to the cartoon colors than Takara's yellow tan.

Ugh. Could we get a new mold, please? The 10th anniversary one didn't cut it, either. A brand new, freshly designed mold would be really nice right about now.

You know, this is impossible, right? Beast wars figures can't be remade in a superior way using modern engeneering. Just imagine if they'd remade, let's say, Rhinox, Rattrap, and Waspinator. How would they manage that?

You know I'm divide on the separate mold thing because optimus primal was a pretty great troy and he stands out even today. But I also believe that Hasbro and Takara do a half assed job appealing to collectors and enthusiast. Maybe a thrid Party will come along and honor him the right way.
