Oh, they will, no doubt. And a Nemezis Prime will most likely be among the first, but he may not be as expensive because like for MP-10, he'll be a regular (albeit Japan exclusive) release and may most likely come without trailer and extras. Making his price ironically less expensive.

I'm asking more about the very premium and very limited BAPE and oddball repaints like 7-11 and Evangelions. Those also came without trailers and those sell for a hefty premium. So will MP-44 get at least the BAPE treatment? Will he come with the trailer and extra bits? And most importantly, what will be his price and how well will he sell? I'm morbidly curious.

For those who have no idea what the BAPE repaints sell for from Mandrake, the place with the most fair prices.

EDIT: Dat 85000JPY Bape green MP-10 that is SOLD OUT.

See I think the Bape will be dependent on sales, if they sell then we will see the £1000 mp 44, which they will play up as a super luxurious item that will be worth more then some Lucky Draws.

Pre orders are all soldout, but they are all unpaid. I'll be very interested to see how many people actually shell out the money come next fall. It won't be me, as I'm waiting for the KO and/or a super hot discount sale.

Still, I'm very curious to see how well this does, as like you say, its probably going to determine the fate of official masterpiece figures.

Seems like this and bb2.0 is already setting the precedent for the new direction and price bump

I would love to see a breakdown of the base price (aka what the retailers are buying it at) and see if there's even any logic behind the price increase (has cost of materials soared? Has wages gone up for the designers? Did hasbro tell them that people would gladly pay more?)

Key part here.
There's a lots of things that I "always wanted" but never bought. So that "always wanted" is really just a "kinda want". The kinda want are always pretty low on any list and it's perfecly fine. Because the things I REALLY want, those are the ones I prioritize.

That's how I roll from now on. I set the "kinda wants" in the "do not want" list. This way I avoid any possible buyer remorse. Not buying the "kindas" save money and space. I now only buy the REALLY WANTS. No matter the price.

That MP-44 Optimus so far is just a "kinda". It's not just a matter of price. I'm plenty satisfied with MP-01 and MP-10. However, I may change my mind if there's a way cheaper version without trailer and frivolous bits that get announced. Will they ever release such a (around 50% or so) cheaper version after the initial release? I certainly hope so. It would be like if MP-01 would have been released after MP-04. They could call it MP-44-Lite or something. This one could even be America and Europe exclusive with Peter Cullen voice clips. But at this point, it's wishful thinking.

Why are you saying pre-orders are sold out? They look to be readily available? Are you talking about a MP-44?

It's not possible to be "anti-consumer" when you're selling to consumers. That's an oxymoron. It's actually the height of capitalism. I'd argue the same thing, but in reverse. Getting more money out of people is capitalism. Perhaps to excess, but hey...that's why we have the ability to choose.

You are basing what you want and not willing pay for as a position that is strictly emotional. That's what's disingenuous. You don't want to spend the money, so blame Takara for you buying a KO. I'm not judging you for the action, just the reasoning behind the action. If "it's just too expensive" is the reason, then so be it. If it's "Takara is making me do this" is the reason, then that is disingenuous. Takara isn't "forcing you" to buy any of these figures. I know you know better. You don't have to have any of these figures. None of us do, despite whatever collector's addictions we may suffer from.

I dont understand that you say it is not possible to be anti consumer.. basically you are implying it is not possible for companies to try to extort money out of people? A successful business typically sells good quality goods that people want at reasonable prices to happy customers.. takara is not doing that by bundling goods together so if you want the lesser good you have to pay for the whole.. its not consumer friendly. Anyway i clearly dont understand or agree with you on this so happy to let it lie.

It is not an emotional decision, it is rational one. Ratbat is rationally not worth £100 (as i assign £0 value to soundblaster) so i decided not to buy it. How is that emotional rather than rational? To be clear as well i am not blaming (in the sense of "oh you've wronged me i am going to do this this and this") them, i am saying they have not provided a product i want to buy at the price they are asking, so ive brought sonething else. Im not angry about it, just stating a factual series of events.

How is a company extorting you to buy a non-essential product? How is this company extorting you? You don't have to buy it just because they sell it. Bottom line.

Buying toys is never a rational decision in the purest sense. You can rationalize the purchase, but that does not make it rational. It's emotional. If it wasn't it would be a weird looking toy in the shape of a bat with no other context. But because it's Ratbat, and you love Transformers (love is an emotion), and you love collecting (also emotional) you want one. You don't want to pay the money for a Soundblaster (emotional), so you'll go for a KO version of Ratbat (rational based on emotional decision).

Im gwtting really tired of you putting words in my mouth.

1) i never said they extorted me. Confused how me not giving them my money is them extorting me?

2) how do you know i "love" collecting? I even said esrlier i dont buy that many.

Honestly you seem to be just coming up with your own perceptions of who i am and my motives are.. so im just going to ignore you.

Uhh...

I dont understand that you say it is not possible to be anti consumer.. basically you are implying it is not possible for companies to try to extort money out of people?

Only using your words, man.

As I said, I don't know you. Some of it is assumption. Okay, you don't "love collecting". Fine. All I'm saying is what is emotional and what's rational, and you are getting angry about that. SOrry. It's not personal, even if I don't agree.

Cobotron, I requested those posters to stop twice as well after they highjacked my post for there own purposes. Was I off topic by about KO’s specifically of MP-44 in this thread? I just thought I’d get buried in a general KO thread (which happened anyway).

This thread is really only for MP-44 and it alone. Talk of kos is frowned upon unless in its relevant part of the forum due to its illegal nature (no matter how you slice if)

A thought occurs, if Hasbro were to make a plus addition of MP-44 somewhat down the line with Cullen voice clips and maybe toy accurate deco (just to annoy people!) would Takara release it in Japan?

Well, you can easily. If you have a job and have the cash for frivolous things that is.
The key is how badly you want this MP. Enough to not buy ANY Transformers for a month or three, avoiding all the new things? If yes, MP-44 is basically yours. By the time the thing come out, you'll have the cash saved.

One thing that can also greatly help is to sell things that you no longer care for. You may have the cash even faster than you have anticipated. I never thought I'd buy a Dollfie Dream yet alone pay her in only 3 weeks!

So, put your heart into it and it will be yours. ;)^

My wife, four kids and dog may have something to say about it (in terms of having the money available), but I'm fairly confident I'll end up with one of these.

Ah life priorities...
But like I said, just not buying the run-of-the-mill toys and saving the cash for a few months (while obviously keeping responsibilities) will be enough.

That Optimus is still a while away though. And for the price he will be, he certainly won't be scalped when it'll come out locally. This give time aplenty to save and avoid a credit card purchase.

It's not a matter of saving, it's a matter of it not being worth the insane price Takara is asking, regardless of how much it's wanted.

I want this very badly. I'm lucky enough to have the money to buy this with no sweat or worry. That doesn't make the price justifiable. 44 is a cash grab, nothing less.
