My grandfather had 4 daughters, my Mom being the youngest. He made it out just fine. The man's 78 but looks 50. Dunno how he did it, but maybe you'll handle it well like he did.

I really didn't know what to expect from this set but this wasn't it. Not that it's bad in any way, it's just as many others said, unexpected.

I'll be switching some of the names around though. For me, Mega Empress just fits better as the combined form's name while Megatronia fits better as the name for the wife of Megatron even if it is cliched. That might just be because I think the combined name of Megatronia comes from too similar a place as Galvatronus. That and Mega Empress/Megaempress (is it pronounced as one word or two or do we even know yet?) sounds better as a combined mode name rather than a singular robot's name.

Trickdiamond and Flowspade will be switching names as well. This is mainly due to the wasted pun in Trickdiamond's weapon. It's essentially a spade. Yeah, I could just trade the weapons but I like which weapon "belongs" to which figure. Maybe I can just switch their suits. Trickspade and Flowdiamond?

Regardless, let's just hope that the legs on Megaempress will be assembled correctly like they were for United Onslaught. Not that it's a big hassle to "fix" (aka cut off the protrusions on the misassembled pieces), it's just that it's annoying.

Speaking of which, I'd love to see a really unconventional looking combiner rather than the usual G1 blockfests. I mean I love a good G1 blockfest as much as the next guy, but what I'd really like is some of the classic combiners with aesthetics homaging some of the other more unusual designs from the Transformers franchise. So for example, an Animated-styled Defensor with Derek J Wyatt's cartoony, dynamic aesthetic, or a Computron done to resemble the elegant technorganic designs of Beast Machines/TransTech (so effectively some of the better BM Maximal design cues but applied to vehicles instead of beasts). Likewise, imagine an Abominus done like a Transmetal II, with grotesque biomechanical detailing, chrome, asymmetry and cloven hooves instead of regular feet!

How about Velocitron-style Stunticons?

For Hasbro, their releasing Computron is a huge deal. For Takara, their releasing Computron is just standard procedure.

What baffles me is why Afterbreaker has the retooled head and cockpit, but NOT the retooled guns

I may be going out on a limb here, but I suspect registering the patents for the parts new to the U.S. has thrown a wrench into directly importing UW Computron, among other things. Aside from Afterbreaker, the only figure with new parts is Strafe, the rest have all been registered (and approved) before (don't know if Scrounge is a pretool). Plus, the hands and feet are static pieces with less restrictions I'd assume. In contrast, UW Computron has:

- new parts for Scattershot, Nosecone and Lightspeed
- new parts for Strafe, who is based on a not-yet-registered toy (Blast Off)
- new accessories

Getting all that legalised may have taken too much time, so with a few short cuts the US got a "redeco Computron", more or less.

I understand with Scattershot as he appears to have been retooled by Hasbro and then further retooled by Takara, but Afterburner appears to have been retooled first by Takara, so, were the guns on a separate mold sprue? That's the only reason I can think of for them not including the new guns on Afterbreaker.
This of course asuming the molds were retooled in the order I suggest

I think I read somewhere that Afterbreaker was actually all Hasbro, with only the guns by TakaraTomy.

Since the "Girls" already look quite G2 it would have been fun if they'd had tail fin or hood tampos showing off their powers or their card themed suit in their name Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs & Spades. With Mrs. Megatron being the "Queen" perhaps with all 4 suits on her like Optimus used to have multiple cyber planet key logos tampographed on him.

Thats because the exchange rate changed too. It was always around the 4500 yen mark for UW sets but sicne the last combiner release, the yen has caught up to the US$ and is now on par. So whil the shipping might have increased a tiny bit (only 500 yen), the fact that its added to the on par exchang makes it look super steep.

Also, I didnt get my notification from anime export yet, should be soon if you got it from amiami. Cant wait to ship both him and blurr.

Back to Megatronia for a bit, I think its a good case of Takara being different from hasbro and not better. Hasbro's deco is pretty good and highlights just as much detail if not more (plus you get Dust Up and dont need to import if you are in the west).



I will admit though that Megaempress looks sublime,but thats because she goes against the highlighter with black blotches theme of the rest.
