Having now read through the new stuff regarding weapon storage and new color changes, Takara really did go ham on this didn't they? This guy looks so amazing and has so many paint apps and features. The guns all seem to store nicely and the shifting visor is very appealing. Plus that boxart is just badass and the new paint to Mixmaster definitely looks very awesome.

Really digging the guy, and his box. and his everything.

While I do agree he has less paint, and in some areas it is not as good as the Hasbro one, some of his paint is better places, such as in the treads of his arm components. Overall, he still is good though. With some of the hasbro paint he would have been irresistible

He's as painted as the Hasbro version at least.

Sorry, I think that this is just another case of 'TT Defensor Syndrome' where it's 'properly painted' but since it looks like the lazily drawn/colored cartoon, it doesn't say much for it.

I like a healthy amount of paint apps/painted details on the tf's that I buy (especially if they are gonna be that large)

Come on you guys, he doesnt have less paint. All his wheels are painted, like in the G1 cartoon, plus he has that added silver on the left foot which works wonders, and he has Bonecrisher's inner threads painted to match the other side. And finally, while it isnt paint, they use an extra plastic colour to give him the correct purple hands AND they paint both the inside missiles of the transformed inner hands plus give a nice grey painted line in the forearm to breakup all that black.

This is such a welcome change to the drab looking Hasbro one. Look at the colours from the begining of his forearm to the end of his fingers, its just all boring black plastic.

Takara improves this more than people are letting on. Hasbro's is the one whose combined mode looks like unpainted ass:

He may not have more paint apps, but it's the placement of the apps he does have that I find appealing. As minute as it may seem, Bonecrusher's unpainted treads on Hasbro's has always bothered me and it sticks out like a sore thumb.

WJ - I keep meaning to tell you this, but it's "treads" not "threads". Like the bottom of your shoes not the string by which they are sewn together.

Ho down there Willie-J! I'm not trying to slam him here! I'm actually agreeing with the placement of the paint! I like some of the hasbro details better, but this guy is no slouch by any mean!

To me,that is the most noticeable difference and one that adds some extra POP! to it.

Yeah, the hands/arms are great, but the green on the legs goes on forever, it's all I can see when I look at it, it draws my eyes to it, like a black hole of neon green plastic. It would've been cool if they put some insignia's on mixy a'la rotf mixy; or colored the hydraulics on scrappers lift-arm; just something to interrupt the huge patches of green or purple.

I feel like the optimum deco for this set is somewhere in between what Hasbro and Takara are offering. When I eventually get my Takara Devy, I'll have to do some detailing on the ladders and stuff. I'm a little paranoid since I've never customized a toy like that before....
Anyway, looking at those comparison shots, it's true that the Devastator deco is pretty similar between the two, it's the individual constructicons that are pretty different. And I don't give a crap about purple hands, personally.

If they're simple repaints or minor remolds, they'll be easy passes. Really....the only way I'd be interested in this set is if they're completely different characters that haven't had a toy in a while.

If you are in to upgrading the details, Ocean Designs and it's doppleganger Eness are sure to come up with a remedy for the plain"ness"

Though, what's the point of releasing the mold, if people in japan wanted the character? For rook, it works, b/c they haven't gotten the mold at all, but without ruckus' head, offroad is really no different than the ironhide they're getting...

Would like to a see is they handle the deco on Galvatronus before I make a definite decision. If they're all Decepticons and they somehow establish the torso as someone that's not Cyclonus (doubtful), then I'll most likely bite. If not this and what Hasbro's going for, then it'll be a pass.
