This looks superb and I love the white feet and hands as opposed to the black with Hasbro version. I guess I can just buy one Takara bot to give my Hasbro Superion a better look. Like another poster said...Prime can always use Alpha Bravo on his team. Well Played Takara...Very Well Played.

With Superion getting the "missing member" from the get-go, and possibility of the same thing happening with Menasor, how would TakaraTomy handle Guardian (Defensor)? Groove has been repurposed as an Legends if we are to believe the leaked listings, if TakaraTomy is gonna aim for G1 accuracy how would they do it?

I hadn't seen that reference to Grrove, but if Hot Spot is getting a new mold, maybe Groove will too, which could be repurposed if they ever decided to do a Computron down the road. Or the fan picked combiner

I actually prefer the Hasbro version, much more vibrant. Definitely going to get Slingshot though.

I've seen plenty of Windblades, and more than 5 Chromias, never seen an Arcee, though. Not that it matters, like the Aerialbots, that's another one where TT gets my money

Came to post that this Takara version looks gorgeous.

Saw a discussion about later wave 2014 Generations. Have seen them at retail around here but it has been very spotty and only at a couple of the 18 gillion Walmarts in the Raleigh-Durham Metro Area. Window probably over for finding them, may show up at discount later on. HTS and Amazon were the best resource for that wave, good luck to anyone still looking for them!

But yeah, back to the topic, man, this version looks super nice. Going to be tempting to not get it, going to have to keep an eye out for the HLJ preorder.

I'm not sure your window is over yet- a wal mart near me just got Whirl and Roadbuster, and nowhere around here (cleveland) has the CW wave yet. I'd keep looking

I wonder if the original intention was always to use Slingshot (Fireflight remold), but then Hasbo worried about putting two duplicate molds out there so they grabbed the mold meant for Blades/Vortes and hastily made him Alpha Bravo. They could've also requested IDW give him facetime in the comic to legitimize him since IDW usually goes their own way with characters.

So Takara gives us our missing Slingshot and then turns Silverbolt into some hideous lemon yellow atrocity while Hasbro gives us decent colors yet screws us out of a character? **** both of these companies!! That's bull****! If Takara has Slingshot we know Hasbro originally had it in the pipeline first since this series was their making. That means Hasbro intentionally screwed us and gave us a lame excuse as to why. What a complete and total load of crap. I'm not buying either set now just on general principle.

Yeah, it's the Firefly mold I wasn't too happy with. I love the F-4 (Fireflight) design, I was sad to see it go.

I can’t decide if this is totally awesome or totally messed up on Hasbro’s part. I like the idea of mixing and matching, it is more dynamic, frees things up, it is creative and fun. Of course a G1 set up is so fun and exciting as well. Options are good. Change it every few months or never change it. I hope Hasbro releases Slingshot here. It would be messed up to have the figure and to basically withhold it. I know they don’t bother with perfect distribution of figures but to deny fans of 20% of a group is cold.

I'm sure Hasbro doesn't see it that way. They're fully committed to drinking the IDW Kool-Aid and as far as they're concerned, they released a full set.

What's wrong with their approach? As far as their target market is concerned the ariealbots are complete. There is nothing wrong with working with IDW, with this approach it's just like the marvel legends line.

I'm just being bitchy. I know that a lot of people like the IDW stuff, and that it's a core market. I just don't happen to like the designs or what's been done with the characters. From a business standpoint, of course it makes sense

Excellent news. I'm not a stickler for G1 accuracy as far as making sure the alt modes look spot on, but I would prefer to have my combiner formed from the original members. I still like Alpha Bravo as a standalone figure, and I'll probably get Offroad anyway, even if Takara do an accurate Menasor.

Hasbro you cheeky so and sos, youve managed to get a massive chunk of fandom to buy Alpha Bravo, having us think there would be no Slingshot, then BOOM you drop the S-bomb so most fans will buy again! Clever.

I will import a Slingshot for my new Superion and keep Alpha Bravo for Ultra Prime because I could see them doing the same thing for the other three Combiner Wars gestalts too!

Nay! I went grocery shopping one evening and decided to take a peak at the toy section, coming across at least three Arcees and Chromias (only bought Chromia, though).

Arcee & Chromia never hit NYC, that I know of. Got all the CW Wave 1 Legends & Deluxes... no voyagers yet though.

Barring any money issues, I'm all in for the TakTom Aerialbots boxset. I'll still get the Hasbro Slingshot and Wildrider of course, but if Japan is gonna be putting their Combiners out in boxsets, I'm gonna hafta get those as well.
