Reading all the love in this thread is such a stark contrast to the Ironhide and Hot Rod threads.

And I was playing the staunch defender of Ironhide. But I'm still not 100% sold on this one. Still have some issues with it, I just don't like poop in my parades, so I won't on this one.

We're used to G1 Masterpiece perfection, but the problem is those are turning a static blocky altmode into a blocky robot. The Beast Wars designs are fundamentally different.

The biggest, biggest difference is that there are no hidden sides of a Beast Mode. A car or truckformer can stuff loads of junk on its underside, but what can an apeformer do?

That and panel lines + joints are always going to look awkward on a beastmode (well, maybe it can be circumvented on those w/ plated bodies, but an Ape ain't one of those).

Optimus Primal has the same amount of care and engineering in his design as every other Masterpiece; it's just that he's a tougher subject to portray.

I would love an Optimal Optimus, but to so many, this is the original Primal, kinda like how the original Optimus Prime is the one so many recognize instantly, not one of his upgraded forms

Do we know how popular Ginrai is in Japan? Same toy, different character, but if we do ever see an MP Powermaster Prime, the most likely route I can imagine is through another "Japanese Autobot Leader" Masterpiece.

Ok... there was a LOT I did NOT like about the Powermaster prime concept... but if they actually went and did this... about 90% of them would be erased. I would sincerely LOVE a powermaster Optimus around ultra magnus size and articulation... and if it could hit ALL the modes, even better!!!

Oh trust me, if they finish MP'ing G1, then BW, even if it's 20 years from now, I can wait for MP Beast Machines figures. But even then, I'd be just as happy with some Generations updates.

It doesn't. The robot chest is now formed from the gorilla's tummy.

That's the problem with most beast wars figures. Most of them are already pretty great. Anything past the first year like Transmetals and fuzors and after are already close to their cartoon models. Looks amazing though and by it's not a licensed vehicle so we should get him in the states
