I have no comment on the color differences, but I gotta be honest, this figure doesn't impress me much. I'm not saying it's bad, because it's not. But I'm looking at this and I'm looking at my 10th anniversary Primal standing on my desk, and I don't see a lot of improvement design-wise. Perhaps once I see the MP figure in a video being transformed it will change my opinion, but so far the differences between the MP and the '06 figure don't justify spending the money on the MP. Like I said, once the final product is available, it may change, but I doubt it.

The problem here might simply be that the Beast Wars figures were at the beginnings of modern Transformers articulation. Most of the figures were very poseable with good articulation. Optimus Primal was a great figure to begin with, especially with the mold changes made 10 (yikes) years ago. I think I'll have a great appreciation of this new Beast Convoy IF they do a Masterpiece Beast Megatron who had a cool toy originally but could use some improvements to get him closer to his animation model.

I agree. I think Beast Megatron is more appreciated and perhaps loved than Primal is. Due to characterization and David Kaye's voice work. That's not to say Garry Chalk didn't do well or Primal isn't likable, but I think most fans would like a MP Beast Megatron over a MP Optimus Primal, especially if the details and articulation is superior to the previously released figure as you mentioned. And I also have high hopes for a MP Beast Megatron as well. I kinda figured they would just get a release in the Generations line like Rhinox, Rattrap, and Waspinator, but a MP upgrade doesn't hurt. The only question (to me anyway) is if the upgrade is worth the asking price.

Japanese ToyMaker Tomy is holding a corporate event from match 24-25 where it is showing a few of it's upcoming products from it's many brands. One of the main toys being showcased is Takara's Transformers Beast Convoy, aka Optimus Primal.

What is new here is that we finally have a indicaton of the price and the release date. The price is 12000 Yen, which is around $106 USD at the moment. This is the MSRP, which means the actual price sold at retail in Japan and in Japanese online stores will be around 8500 Yen, or $75 USD.

The release date will be in October 2016 (end of the month, typically).

Aother great tidbit is that we finally have the actualy MP numbering. MP Beast Convoy is officially MP-32.

Robot mode, I understand, but you dont see this as a major improvement over the beast mode?

As for me, I am a bit upset that after all this time and all the advances, we still cant have this shoulder actualyl cover all the robot mode detail on his shoulder. Why not cover up all that white on the beast shoulders?!

Gorilla mode isn't the top priority for me, I am considering robot mode mainly. Ape mode I can take or leave, as my Primal is never ever in gorilla mode, because I really like the robot mode. Ironically, Beast Megatron is the opposite for me. He's always in T-Rex mode, because I love that much better than his robot mode.

Thats not saving 50$ off this toy though. The new one has double the parts count, and is not a 20 year old mold. If you buy that toy on amazon and then eventually buy the MP after the rave reviews come through, then all you do is end up losing 62$ by not having bought the right toy and instead compromised.

This is like when they did MP 10 and some thought they could just stick to MP01. And then a few years later MP10 was selling routinely for 400$ and people were sad they hadnt bought it for cheaper when they could.

I am not trying to tell you what to do, I just dont want you to regret things later. Sometimes paying more now means we dont have to pay even more later. Ask ayone who paid the money to get to the 2011 Botcon Custom Class.
