TF Handling
Gents,
I have recently started collecting again and tend to
transform some of my favorites when I get stressed or
need a break.
I notice that often the plastic will be scuffed, have
fading or tiny scratches in well handled areas no matter
how clean my hands are. For this reason, I haven't
touched united tracks as I love his retro paintjob and
wet paint look. (definitely transformed the rts boyband
tribal flames tracks alot though lol)
I would like to keep every one as close to perfect as possible
when displaying them.
Is this an unavoidable problem or will they generally have fading
regardless? I saw the review where the person used gloves on the
figure as he was transforming it.
Would some gloves be a good investment? If so what type of gloves
would be best?
I wish I could afford 2 of each (RTS tracks was a gift)
figure I want but just a few figures is a luxury nowdays
(nor would I have the space lol).
Thanks in advance if any replies.

Re: TF Handling
No matter what you do, your figures will wear out even from just standing in a case.
Enjoy them while you can, but don't get yourself paranoid over joints rubbing because that's on every figure.
Enjoy them while you can and don't abuse them. Keep them out of sunlight and they'l last a while.
I've never been one for gloves. When handling my TF's, the only thing I do is make sure that my hands aren't excessively greasy. I also try to not force something to move in a way it's not intended to.

My G1 collection is almost entirely from my childhood and still mintish. I played with them every day and they have withstood that!
If you really want to protect them as much as possible then wear some cotton gloves, like what one might wear for polishing silver.

I don't wear gloves. I just play with my toys. If they get some wear, it doesn't bother me. I am not trying to sell them.

lol, I think we are going a bit far when we start wearing gloves to fiddle with a toy. That's kind of like worshiping them.

I can't say I've ever been too worried about handling my TFs since I don't necessarily play with them the same way I did when I was.... 18
Er, that aside I do mess with them quite a bit Transforming and posing them and all that, and paint chipping has become somewhat of an issue to the point I'm almost paranoid enough to clear coat every decal or painted spot on my TFs.
Otherwise it's just a mild annoyance.

It's FunPub. It's their specialty.
I'm a killjoy, and proud of it!
don't take that to mean I'm a killjoy just because I can be, though...

Re: TF Handling
Very cool thanks for the replies gents.
Seems like they will wear regardsless...
Misb (tried and failed... miserably lol)
Clearcoating sounds like a good idea I'm just
not sure what type of paint they use and any
adverse reactions... definitely would like to
hear from those who have.
Don't plan on selling them, but if I do they
definitely will be of better quality than some
of the auctions out there currently and what I've
recieved from ebay...
I wouldn't call it worship; I just don't like my stuff
looking like crap. Definitely more power to you if you
do and hopefully I will never see/buy any of your items on
the bay lol.
I'd much rather spend a few seconds slipping on some gloves
rather than a few hours dealing with a certain part that may
have been avoided easily.(ie: MP-05s feet... worried about
that chrome on MP-09...)
I have a pair of leather shoes I'd had forever until the
soles went out and it'd cost too much to repair. Did I
worship them? No. I just kept them in good shape so they'd
last which hopefully is the same idea here.
I'm pretty sure in paying 200+ for a "toy" most of us have gone
past whatever point you've think you haven't passed lol.
The original toys definitely were meant to last. Nowadays not
so much... None of the toys I had back then as a kid were so
easily stressed/broken etc.

If handled and stored properly your figures will probably outlast you.

Same here. Some I have had for a while now and they still look good. It's about once a month now that I will go in my room and rearrange everything. And with all these new add ons like FP's Munitioner and Explorer, there's all these different modes, so I can't keep them on the shelves.......

Yes, but those are different. Boots are items relatively necessary. Toys are just toys. Going to such extents to keep them looking good just seems like worship to me.
