Pessimistic, aggressive and abrasive, Spikestrip's sarcastic wisecracking and irreverent ranting gives even the most even-tempered of his Autobot comrades a headache.
His adamant refusal to adopt a lower-profile alt mode, even when threatened with punishment for insubordination, has also infuriated Optimus on more than one occasion, despite his effective use of the reinforced armor to run Vehicons off the roads.
Still, his skill set is indispensable - his speed makes him perfect for hit-and-run missions, his self-made grenades and mines and his micro-mortar cannon are legendary amongst the Wreckers, and his blast-shield adapts harmonic frequencies that render most energy weapons useless against him, short of a direct blast from Megatron's fusion cannon... which has tempted the others to intentionally throw him into harm's way more than once.

this guy came about, ironically, from a rescue - the solvent used to strip the paint off the clear plastic kibble on his arms caused them to fragment and shatter, which made him... unsuitable for the custom I WAS planning to do. /sighz...
after piecing him back together, I figured I'd use the Shadow Quill armor for once, since it DOES look rather pretty in alt mode... and since my favourite Maximal on Beast Wars/Machines was Rattrap... this guy was born.
Hey, who doesn't love a wisecracking demolitions guy? XD
