I went as much G1 as possible. Then, I did the most ancient construction vehicles after that that were the most appropriate.
So, here are the characters that I wanted to turn into a "Devastator."

Armada Hoist, G1 Grapple, RiD Wedge, G1 Scoop, G1 Landfill, and G1 Quickmix.
As a base, I used the oversized KO of the Gravity Builder "Devastator". So, I used a double-fake.
No way am I going to use something like the official CW Devastator for that project. Plus, that K.O is different enough from the official Devastator so that the Constructibots can be more unique.

That big knock-off have a plastic quality that is pretty fine, but still a bit brittle in parts. Overall, it is still solid. Plus, the thing is a pleasure to disassemble for painting. No pins anywhere, 99% of the screws are the exact same, and the rest can snap-off and on like a model kit.
For most of the custom, I used standard spray paints that you can get at the hardware store. I did my best to achieve a "bought in store" look, with as little as possible in dirtying and "battle damages." Most of the clear blue remained as-is. Some parts were also left in the yellow original for looks and functions. The only serious modding that I really did was for the hands and the bot heads.
Also, I didn't made any minicon nor targetmasters.
Now, on to
THE CONSTRUCTIBOTS!
Beginning with ARMADA HOIST the excavator. The overall shape of the vehicle is very different from the original, but I painted it so that is can fetch all the main cues.

Beside the Armada original:

Bot mode:
Hoist have a very different arm, but I painted orange it as a reference to the original.

With the Armada original:

Comparison with the heads. By some miracle, I found some Star Wars X-Over head that was a perfect fit! Just some modding and painting had to be done.

EDIT:
By popular demand, I did a mod to Armada Hoist to be much closer to the original. The excavator arm could snap on and off from the start. I can partsform it. By some miracle, I found the right part for the job. Now, he have a digger arm in bot mode!

NOW we're talking!¸

END OF EDIT.
At first, I planned to leave Grapple the crane in the original yellow, but it didn't work at all. I didn't had the perfect orange so I made do with a strong golden yellow base, and a mist of bright orange. The overall effects are pretty good IMO.

With the G1 original (Or rather, the Commemorative, but it was the only way to be sure not to have a knock-off.)

As a compromise for the chest being so different from the G1 original, I mostly used silver to reference the chest windows and the truck grill belly.

With the G1:

I had a scrap G1 Inferno on hand so I used his head. Ideally, I would have repainted the eyes, but I was too afraid to mess-up. But eh, yellow eyes work.

On to RiD 2002 Wedge the bulldozer!

Compared to the 2002 original. They are pretty much the exact same vehicle!

Now, the bot mode:

Both my Wedge and the 2002 original have the same kibbles on their arms!

I used the head of a cheap-ass KO of a 2007 Movie voyager Ratchet. A scrap that I knew would be useful one day.

Time for Scoop, the loader!
I had fun with so many different oranges!

Pretty much the same vehicle as the original too.

Bot mode!

With the G1 original. Both have their bucket that the same place. Nice.

A scrap Animated Blurr donated his head for the cause.

Next is Landfill the dump truck. First picture with the "hat", the rest without.

Mine is pretty close to the original:

Bot mode!

Compared to the G1:

I went full Bayverse Optimus on a scrap Cybertron Vector Prime to make the perfect head:

Final member, Quickmix the mixer:

With the G1.

Bot mode! And of course, the first picture is a blurry mess.

With the G1 original. The G1 have the mixer tank as his chest. So I homaged the look.

This is the only head I just had to repaint (appart the giant combiner head.)

A group shot of the vehicles:

Of the bots:

Of the combiner parts:

And now, the combined form,
SALVATIOR!

A close up of the modded right hand to allow him to carry a gun:

A comparison with the SS86 Devastator and the G1 Devastator as Tonkanator:

I'm pretty proud of the overall result and I think the colors work well together.

So, what do you guys think about that epic project of mine?
