The nostalgia factor is somethign hasbro wants to keep. sure we may not be their "target" audiences, but they sure as hell want us to buy their product.

Why do you think they have homages and even redone versions of some of our favorite g1 characters in almost every line since g1? To sell the toy to not only kids, but to another group that collects these things like its a religious practice. They appreciate our business to them, because we in a sense help Transformers be such a strong brand even since it was created in 1984. I think many of us here can agree that there are those of us here who grew up in g1 or g2, and have been collecting (on and off) since, not only do we keep doing business with them, but down the road you'll probably have kids, and guess what toys you'll want to get him? TRANSFORMERS. you're doing hasbro's adverstising jobs partially for them by introducing your own kids into the brand. Which brings me to my next point...

I think it would be very wrong for someone to think Hasbro doesn't care about us, because quite honestly they do, but they also care about $$$, and will make decisions that sometimes the fans will have a hard time understanding (in some over-zealous cases, the person will never understand).

Sure I'm not all that thrilled with some of the stuff they do, but thats not to say it isn't obvious they want our business and want to keep us happy.

my examples:
-The classics line and Alternators line

-Botcon/Otfcc

-Homages in other tf lines (hell look at how well beast wars took off with the fan base! It only got better when they started referencing g1, as far as $$$sales$$$ goes.)

-The Live action film (some decisions were made to tailor to the fan such as casting cullen and welker, despite welker only getting megatron's part in the game)

-The live action movie's game. Seriously... Activision is truly tailoring to the fans, having cullen and wlker reprise their famous roles, doing away with the emphasis on the humans in the movie, etc.

-the current generation 1 inspired comics (although this would be a no brainer, as comics on old series are alot of the times easy to sell.)

Now I realize i might sound like a Hasbro suck up, but honestly, looking at all they've done, its quite difficult to say that generation 1 will ever disapeer, its been 25 years, and chances are if Transformers is still around in another 25, G1 will not have been forgotten.

{end rant/speech}

My comments weren't directed at the G-1 line dissolving on a whole massive scale, i was referencing Takara and their Masterpiece collection line.. not HASBRO.. I agree with you

After seeing these Kitbash pictures, I think that even though we have several figures in the Alternator line they would be worth doing again in the Masterpiece line.

The guy explained that he changed the "Citanes" back to the real world sponsor "Gitanes". Apparently this kitbash was created from a Tamiya Ford F1 racing kit, styrene, metal, and the following Alternator figures; Optimus Prime, Skids, and Sideswipe. He did say that the figure was suprisingly durable. I thought it looked not too bad, although if you look closely, you can see some minor flaws. I think it definitely shows the possibilities for other figures. If you noticed in the last picture, you can see all his other custom Masterpieces. I wish I could find some more pictures of that Wheeljack which looks really good.

Since the announcement of Skywarp I think Thundercracker is pretty much a guarantee. Before I thought Starscream is iconic enough the rest of the posy wouldn't make the grade. But now why not do it. It is almost a must in order for me to purchase Skywarp. So far as new molds, I think Grimlock, Skyfire, and Soundwave are all very real possibilities. No rights to any real world companies would be needed and all three would fit with their level of popularity. As for the Grimlock nay-sayers I think every thread I see like this has half of the opinion that they must and will do it and the other half saying it won't happen because of a lack of popularity in japan, with only a few scattered "but I would only want all the Dinobots". That being said I would love a perfect Ultra Magnus. I avoided the original because as far as I'm concerned white Prime is not Ultra Magnus and white prime is a rather lackluster addition to my shelf. I'm hoping they shy away from '86 movie bots since for me the movie was really the end of the series. Like Rodimus leading under the shadow of Optimus, so too were the post-movie series a shadow of pre-movie greatness. I tried to keep my predictions realistic. Though if we want to make crass statements about who should be next: ALL Dinobots, Constructicons (fully combinable), and Instecticons.

wow nice customs.. and cecil I feel your pain, i disagree about the 2nd generation to take up the battle though...I think Rodimus prime has the best chance to become a MP, popularity and the similarity with the movie prime live action will be a no brainer...in terms of sales...

Masterpiece Wheelie :P since Dai Atusori is not here

Really, I too believe that Rodimus will be the next new Autobot. The Masterpiece Autobots are like leaders and large special warriors for the Binaltech cars. The Decepticons vary a bit, but the jets were always bigger than the G1 cars anyway. According to the Cybertronian Index size scale, deluxe cars become ultra binaltechs. Masterpiece (presumed super) are so far all from mega-sized toys. As the scale goes deluxe, mega, ultra, super, the size seems to increase two steps with the BT/Masterpiece upgrades. Other mega G1 toys include Soundwave (who I think will be the next new Decepticon), Rodimus, the Dinobots, Perceptor, Scourge, Cyclonus, the Predacons, and Wreck-Gar.

My picks: Rodimus Prime, Soundwave, repaints, and hopefully Cyclonus and/or Scourge.

I have been saying this since day 1.

It could be done in an affordable way too. Just release one Con at a time for a tad less than a seeker would be, since it would be smaller.

About 500-600 bux later, Devastator! Totally worth the dough imo.

Perceptor might be a fun one. A working mircoscope for my place. Fun AND functional ;-)

I would also like to see them do mp constructicons, although our luck would be they would get about 4 of them released and then cancel the line.

What I would be most thrilled by would be MP Constructicons, he 3 insecticons, a perfect Magnus and Screamer, Thundercracker, Soundwave with Rumble, Laserbeak and Ravage, Astrotrain, Blitzwing, Shockwave and Reflector. Boom that all the MPs that I would want over the next few years.

Do you think music label might hurt the chances of seeing a MP Soundwave? There is a lot of debate over whether he should get the MP treatment, how to handle scale, and the relevance of tapes. I also think that with them having retooled and remolded Soundwave for music label, does Takara want to try and remold him again in a larger scale for MP? I personally want to see him, I just wonder about the validity of these arguments delaying or preventing him from getting made.

While the mp3 player is a great idea...I just can't consider him a masterpiece without the tape portion. Although i suppose thats similar to how some feel about magnus.

Weapon: Double-Barreled Plasma Shell Shotgun
It all depends really if Takara see MP as part of their Kiss and BT line. If they are connected, then there'll be a load of Transformers we won't see getting an MP treatment.

Which does kinda eliminate guys like Jazz, Prowl and Hot Rod, since they've already been released as BTs. I personally would love to see Jetfire or Blitzwing given the MP treatment

my comments weren't strictly for the g1 line either. g1 as a whole influences every new series of transformers since g1 ended. If you look in every line from that point on, there are hints of g1 here and there, some more obvious than others. What I'm trying to say is, even if the movie does become super popular, g1's style, characters, stories and influences will never go away. We will keep seeing g1 based masterpieces, I will guaruntee you that as long as the transformers brand is around.
(the hasbro comments are merely examples proving my point that g1 will never stop influencing other series, as well as never lose popularity. I could have said the same things about takara, but thats even more obvious how important the g1 line is in japan.)

IMO I think the following MP's will be released as follows:

(Autobot) Rodimus Prime - although he has a niche market, I believe an MP treatment will give him more of a mass appeal.

Also, we've had a jet recently (MP Starscream) so I don't think we'll see another jet (Jetfire) for a while.

(Decepticon) Soundwave (can't wait!)
(Autobot) Grimlock
(Decepticon) Shockwave
(Autobot) Sideswipe w/ a Sunstreaker repaint after that

Then move on to:

Astrotrain
Combiners
Incecticons
More Triple Changers
Cityformers... etc etc...

Hmm you made an interesting point, but why would they have to release each constructicon seperatly.. if they did them in BT size and format, it would cost only 50 to 60 bucks a piece.. if they did a 2 pack of each bot and the final had the devestator parts that would be more viable and easier caost wise.. because they could consolidate 2 bots in one packaging ..I would love to see them release a fully masterpiece version of Devestator.. next to soundwave, the seekers and shockwave, he's like the baddest one of the decepticons..

Until someone starts bitching about there not being a Predaking MP.

I personally would rather have a Devestator because he is my favorite combiner, but Predaking seems to have a much bigger following. Sure he may not be as great with the ladies as Devestator. I mean, I've never seen a section called "The Girls who loved Predaking" nor a faithfull large scale receration of his likeness but whatever.

Predaking imo, is not in the same leagure as Devastator. That would be like calling Bonds the homerun king when he breaks Aaron's record. Aaron will always be the home run king, just as Devatator will always be the ultimate original Combiner.

I don't see MP Constructicons for quite some time. For the Decepticons, it could very well be Shockwave, Soundwave, or Galvatron. An Autobot would be Grimlock, Rodimus, or Perfect Magnus. I would very much like to see MP Gestalts, but I jsut can't. Triple Changers are another story. I could see Blitzwing or Astrotrain. It would take a bit longer I assume, giving them one more alt. mode than the others already produced. Cities such as Trypticon, Metroplex, Scorponok, & Fort Max will most likely never happen. I could see them in a smaller scale, only w/the exception that Fort Max & Scoponok are still Headmasters. Cities are way to big, and the MP line so far continues to be in scale. If the cities were made, that's at least $400+ each one. I could probably buy 2 MIB Scorponok's w/all that $$$$$!! But whatever, we'll see what happens after Skywarp...............
