Based on your recent mention of price I say go with OP. Maybe when/if Soundwave reaches us you'll have the money for him or get a similar discount opportunity again.

You know what I love about this figure (apart from *everything*)?

The instruction booklet uses stills from the original cartoon to show off the accessories and features!

It doesn't matter which one you choose. You can't go wrong with either of them. Both are outstanding and are the definitive versions of the characters. The only thing with Soundwave is that you get 5 extra decepticons (his cassettes)

Btw, MP Grimlock is a great MP and probably one of the more stable as far as transformation, durability, and posability. I got mine through TRU when he first came to the states ($60). I know he's outrageous right now on ebay, BBTS, and what not. But if Takara is doing a rerelease of him, it wouldn't surprise me if he got a rerelease here in the states.

Considering that all the G1 characters are supposedly getting their MP figures, are you absolutely sure your choice is between these 2? I mean, I am AMPED to see a MP G1 Jetfire/Skyfire. Also, I had this problem, sort of, where I only wanted 1 figure, but it was solved rather quickly, because, you know, Grimlock. IMO the best MP to this day, including Prime and Soundwave.

Neither of these characters are my absolute favorites on either side, so personally I wouldn't pick either. (You asked.

) But if it's a must have, I say go with Optimus. I considered getting a Soundwave, but his feet just put me off They just seem too big. Even though I prefer MP-01 over MP-10 in robot mode (which is how I assume you will be displaying him), the MP-10 truck mode is perfect. The robot mode looks good enough (to me) so if I had a gun to my head to choose, I'd go with Prime. He also seems to have more upper body bulk, which makes for a better presence among the other figures.
