I really think that hasbro is reluctant to release similar toys with the same colour scheme. This would affect Predacons, Dinobots, Insecticons, and the Constructicons. I've noticed that even the Animated Dinos don't all have exactly the same colours and it goes a long way to explain Fruticus.
I mean, think about it. In the old days we had a lot of teams with the same colour schemes, but now? The Animated Dinos are the closest I think we've gotten in a long time.

rpetras wrote:But, that said, I'd rather pay more for a figure I actually want than less for something I really don't. But because of the price differences I try to be more selective about the 3P stuff I buy. Before I drop 3P $$$ on a figure, I try to be damn sure it is a figure I really, really want.

I find it strange saying that on a Third party forum where I spend most of my time, but I find it to be true... Not really interested in anything coming out.. all these third-party "Masterpiece" figures does not interest me one bit. They all seem pretty good, but all have their issues, besides Quakewave I will not buy another third party masterpiece figure. Everyone leaves me kind of Meh..

If I make a bad purchasing decision at retail, it's a $10-$20 blunder. If I buy a 3rd Party figure online, it's more like a $75-$100 blunder. Plus, it's nice to get to know the folks in our little corner of Seibertron.![]()

See, I think if it wasn't for the 3P action, I would have dropped out of TF collecting a while ago. It is because of the various discussions and activity on the 3P threads that I still find collecting TFs interesting.
Which Predaking is best? Is Maniaking worth it, even with those weird wrists? What 3P combiner scale do you like? 3P MPs, good idea or bad? Is there too much focus on combiners? All good discussions.

Yotsuyasan wrote:The only time I feel comfortable getting a third party figure when there is an official option also available is if the official offering is fairly universally recognized as an epic fail. I'm looking at you, Classics Devastator. But heck, I saw no need for Mania King, as while it isn't my favorite figure, I was content with Hasbro's Galvatron.
