The Official Transformers: Animated Discussion Thread!
Re: The Official Transformers: Animated Discussion Thread!
I didn't know Telitran 1 moved. The least they could of done was left a link on the old page to the new page like Paragon Wiki did when they moved to the Titan Network.
Anyway I don't like how the new page lists Longarm Prime and Shockwave as if they were actully two different characters. The old page actully had them both listed as the same character under the Decepticon side as they should be.

Well, when the move occured (which was quite a long time ago), the old TFWiki had a link to the new TFWiki, but at the time they were essentially the same wiki. But when they finally split apart from each other, everyone from the old one went to work on the new one, leaving the old one unfinished and less informative.
And what do you mean the new one has Shockwave and Longarm Prime as two separate charatcers? I'm typing in both "Longarm (Animated)" and "Longarm Prime" on both the older and the newer TFWikis and each one redirects me straight to "Shockwave (Animated)".

I mean on the main page where it lists all the characters.
http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Tran ... d_(cartoon)#Cast
Here you can see Longarm/Longarm Prime/Shockwave listed as a single character under multiple names under the Decepticon listing.
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformers_Ani ... on%29#Cast
And on this page Longarm/Longarm Prime is listed as an Autobot while Shockwave is listed seperately on the Decepticon side.
Yes they do all direct you to the same page but I said nothing about the page it takes you to did I.
All I said was that the LISTING of them had them AS IF they were seperate characters.

In any sense, Longarm Prime has an Autobot symbol on his chest. Thus, despite being a double-agent, he is an Autobot. You wouldn't call Punch a Decepticon, would you?

Technically Longarm and Shockwave are two different entities. Much like Cybertron Jetfire and Sky Shadow.

As far as every non-Earth Autobot knows, Longarm Prime is an Elite Guard intelligence officer, and they do not know of Shockwave.
Besides, they list both Elita-1 and Blackarachnia as well.
The way I see it, they can list them both at the same time, so long as the links go to the same character page. If one went to a Shockwave page and the other went to a Longarm page, then there would be a problem as that is just wrong.
And can I just say "HOLY COW!" to that cast list on the older Wiki. They're adding in stuff left and right without thinking. I'm glad I left, cuz it looks like it's gotten a little chaotic over there. I've reverted it back to how it should look, as the hidden text clearly says to not add any characters who have yet to appear in the show.
What? No they're not. They are as much the same guy as Punch and Counterpunch are. It's one guy pretending to be another guy, and doing a darn good job at it too.

Sure it does. Problem is for some reason )#Cast wasn't registered as being part of the link when I posted. If you notice that part is in black and isn't highlighted as a link.
Try this link and if this doesn't work copy and past it into the address bar.

Haveing an Autobot symbol on your chest doesn't make you an Autobot. He allso has a Decepticon symbol and works for Megatron, definatly not an Autobot.
It's not the symbol on your chest that defines you, it's who you work for.
And the problem is not with listing his different names. It's with listing his names as seperate characters. There's a major difference between.
Decepticon
Longarm/Longarm Prime/Shockwave
and
Autobot
Longarm/Longarm Prime
Decepticon
Shockwave
The first one is fine because it shows the truth about who Longarm really is.
The second one looks like Longarm and Shockwave are different characters or that no one knows they're the same character.
Longarm Prime being listed as an Autobot would make sence if we as the Audience didn't know for sure who he really was but we do know who he is and we do know he's not actully an Autobot.

No they're not. That would be like saying Batman and Bruce Wayne are different characters.
Or better yet. That's like saying Kal-el, Clark Kent, and Superman are 3 different characters.
Useing a different name does not in any way make you a different person. It's just a way to hide your real identity. Longarm Prime technically doesn't even exsist he's only a forgery created by Shockwave.

Adopting a new identity is essentially the same as creating a new entity. I'm not following the Animated toy line, but I'm assuming they made a Shockwave figure and a Longarm Prime figure? One is an Autobot and one is a Decepticon. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry.

You're assumeing wrong and you know what they say about people who assume things.

Why would they make two seperate toys of the same character? And no creating a new identity is nothing like creating a new entity. Maybe if you went insaine and even you didn't know the two of you were the same person but that's not the case here. Shockwave knows who he is.
http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/anim ... t_id=23037
BTW the robot mode on that page is misstransformed as it has Longarm's face showing on what is otherwise Shockwave's robot mode. The picture on his box is the same way. It shows all 4 modes on the back of the box and the robot faces are reversed.
One toy, 4 modes. The toy is sold as Shockwave and the name Longarm is mentioned on the packageing as just being a desguise and nothing more. Two robot modes, Shockwave and Longarm. And two Vehicle modes, a cybertronian tank (verry simular in desing to Armada Megatron/Galvatron, we haven't seen it on the show yet.) and a Cybertronian Crane (which we seen in "Boot Camp".)
The two vehicle modes actully aren't much different. You take the treds from their arched position and make them level and you fold out the cannon section covering the crane hook.

Actully I could make a pretty good argument that states that they are different characters [in a real world sence] while still being the same person.
But that would turn this into a physiology debate.

Why must you allways take things out of context?
He was talking about relising Longarm and Shockwave as seperate toys not about just makeing different size molds of Longarm/Shockwave.
BTW there were only two Armada Primes sence you're not counting repaints. And if you were counting repaints that's 3 Armada Primes. If you're counting how many times that mold was repainted as Optimus Prime well I lost count there.
Yeah the 2 Armada molds were repainted several times but only 3 of them were actully in the Armada toy line. 1 Delux and 2 Supremes. And that's not counting Nemesis Prime.
At any rate that still doesn't justify any reasoning for thinking they'd make two toys of Longarm/Shockwave when one is supose to Transform into the other. It would be absolutly retarded for Hasbro to relise them seperately. They wanna repant him, remold him, make different sizes of him, that's fine. That's not in any way what I ment when I said 2 different toys. I was refering to idea of reliceing Longarm as one toy without it Transforming into Shockwave and Shockwave as a seperate toy that doesn't transform into Longarm.
By any and all reasoning. Longarm Prime and Shockwave are in face the same person. Longarm Prime is not a seperate character, it's Shockwave with a mask on and nothing more.
Did they relice Punch and Counter Punch as seperate toys? No.
Did they relice Savage and Noble as seperate toys? No. And thoughs two actully could be considered seperate characters because they had verry different personalitys. It was one character but it wasn't a character useing a fake name, it was 1 character with a split personality dissorder.
Did they sell two different toys of Autobot Sideways and Decepticon Sideways? No.
So why in the world would they sell Longarm and Shockwave seperatly?

As part of the hoax yes. But he's not doing anything that would hurt the Decepticons and as a comunications Officer he has access to a great deal of information that would be usefull to Megatron.
Lets put it this way. Saying Longarm Prime and Shockwave are different characters is like saying that even if the Autobots know who he really was they'd still let Longarm keep his rank but wait that doesn't make any sence. Why or better yet how can they let someone who doesn't really exsist keep their rank?
Long story short. Longarm is not an Autobot. Longarm is Shockwave is desguise. Shockwave is a Decepticon so therefore Longarm is allso a Decepticon.
Why must you complicate things by saying Longarm is an Autobot. There is no Longarm. There is only Shockwave wearing a mask.

Really I'm with Saber Prime on this one.
But what if... there was a real Longarm somewhere along the line? And Shockwave disposed of him to take his place.

As far as I know Sky Shadow was a toy only figure. I don't recall him ever appearing on the Cartoon under that name. So technically Sky Shadow is nothing more than a repaint.

Guys, I've got some bad news (if it's true, that is). A new rumor regarding Season 3 has been posted, but this time it's different.
Before, there have been two kinds of rumors posted regarding season 3. The first kind are the ones that sound cool and real, which turn out to be real in the end. Then there are those that sound obviously fake, and turn out to be fake after all.
But this rumor does not fall into either category, as it neither sounds obviously true, nor obviously false.
See what you make of it. Here it is.

See what you make of it. Here it is.

Well, he didn't confirm it or deny it. So really, how you see it depends on how pessimistic or optimistic you are.

So, with the recent mention of the German dub of season 3 happening, I guess that that a pretty solid confirmation on Season 3's existence.

Yes, I've seen that thread, and it's not at all relevant to this conversation.
The pessimist takes what was said as if the series really is ending. The optimist takes what was said as if it hasn't been decided yet.
