I think there's a MIB Fort Max going for well over $3000 on eBay right now.

And to think people would be better off robbing a vintage TF shop then try stealing an iPad for example XD MISB G1s are worth loads! But the kid who bought them must have been smart to realise his action figures would be worth more if they stayed IN the box.

I'm paying well over 2,000 for one. But it's a custom, and it's going to be awesome!

Here is a story of an old EBAY auction that went for over 1million. but it was the entire collection.
http://gizmodo.com/279598/original-tran ... or-1000000
Original Transformers Boxed Collection Sold for $1,000,000
Count them. 275 Tranformers from the '80s. 101 Autobots, 81 Decepticons, 92 licensed products, some never removed from box, some mint-in-box, all ready for the mother of all battles. Sold for $1,000,000 at eBay in a story full of drama, love and cartoon passion that started out of pity for Starscream.
Like all good stories, this one starts small and by accident.
Back in 1984, my husband, Anthony, was recovering from a serious motorcycle accident, which mostly meant spending his days in front of the television. Being like most 26-year-old men I know, cartoons were among his favorite form of television entertainment, so when Transformers was introduced that year it instantly became his favorite show.
It just so happened we were walking around the La Mesa, California Toys r Us one fine day that year, shopping for a gift, when, lo and behold, we ended up in the action figure aisle, right smack in front of the Transformers section (which didn't take up an entire aisle back in the day.)
"I promise, I just want one," Anthony pleaded, as he slipped Starscream into the shopping cart. (He knew I felt sympathy for Starscream because Megatron was always picking on him.)
He got his one. And those trips to the Toys r Us kept on going until Anthony got his 275 Transformers. Sadly, he died of AIDS in 1988. He was infected with HIV during an anti-hemophilia treatment, while hospitalized for the bike accident in 1983.
But fear not, dear reader, because also like all good stories this one has a happy ending after the tears: thanks to his just-one-Starscream his widow is now getting just-one-million-dollars. And the lucky man with the Optimus Prime helmet in the third row is also getting two guns as a gift: two Megatrons that transform into gun replicas. Apparently, US law says "it is illegal for any business or individual to import or sell the MP-05 Megatron as it does not display a blaze orange safety tip on the end of the barrel," so she's giving them away to the buyer.
Ah, I just love it when a story comes together. [eBay

dirk2243: That collection did not sell for 1 million. It sold for $50,000. She tried to post it several times for a million, but no takers. It wasn't until she opened it at 50K that she got 1 bid.
She also had complete sets for pretty much every 80's toyline that she eventually sold.

I just re-looked it up on several sites and the only thing I see is bidding was at $85k at time of this story.
But still....50k for a collection that when all originally bought wasn't anywhere near that. nice haul for some toys sitting in there boxes.

Just to be clear... do you mean the priciest single TF period, or does it have to be a regular run toy? Because some of those Lucky Draws got RIDICULOUSLY expensive.

What I find puzzling, amazing, funny is how some TF's become the "hot comodity"
I can understand the Optimus Primes, Megatrons, and a few others. But some going for what they do....... Crazy.

Re: The priciest transformer...
I remember when that big ol yella unicron was released about five or so yrs ago. I really wanted to buy it but he was like 100 bucks and I was already collecting the new motu line at the time so I didnt buy it. I wish I had now. I wouldnt sell him I would have him be the center piece of a huge honkin battle scene!!
I remember thinking how great he looked. I believe it wasnt too long after that or perhaps a bit before that I saw the masterpiece optimus and was blown away by the articulation. I wanted to start collecting them back then but ol prime had a price tag damn near that of unicron so I figured I lacked the funds to support a transformers addiction.
I wish Id picked up a few of the ones Im having to pay so much for now though. All well.

It is hard to believe that this person was able to walk into TRU back in 1984 and find every G1 TF. These things were selling like hotcakes back then and were disappearing from the shelves quickly.
