So. Superion. He's made of jets, which is awesome. However, I am faced with something of an issue as to how to represent him in my collection.
I was kinda disappointed with CW Superion. Between distribution woes leaving me with an incomplete combiner, the difficulty of sourcing Slingshot (sorry Alpha Bravo) and the need to spend extra dough on non-awful hands and feet, he really bummed me out. Also, whilst Silverbolt is a fantastic toy, I'm actually a little disappointed with the individual Aerialbots (though I will say I'm planning on grabbing two extra Skydives and making them into Seekers with some Shapeways magic).
Now I could buy the UW set and some PE white hands and feet, but then I'm left with a spare Silverbolt, which isn't ideal. Also I still need to get the hands and feet, which kinda sucks.
I hear Maketoys is doing a Superion, but that's just rumours at the moment, so we'll have to wait and see with regards to that. If they do I might go all-in...but again I then have a spare Silverbolt.
Now Uranos is 4/5ths of a great set. The individual limb-bots are superb (from what I've seen anyway) with great jet modes, nice robot modes and solid limb modes. However, their Silverbolt is an unholy mess, and the combined mode is a tad...sucky.
However, I may have worked out the solution. My good friend GlauG is planning on making some TFC-to-CW adapters- a combination of TFC limb-bots with CW Silverbolt could make for a very good looking Superion, and a damn fine set of Aerialbots. Also it would give Superion a height boost compared to his fellow Combiners, and would make the Aerialbots a little bit more in scale with deluxe cars.
So anyway, enough waffling. What do I do?
1: Break down and buy the UW set + PE parts?
2: Wait for Maketoys to make theirs?
3: Wait for GlauG to make his adapters, track down some TFC Aerialbots and make a hybrid Superion?

The cost of UW/upgrades is something you can't get past, but you're considering 3P stuff that will end up being 3 times the price? Gotta say, that don't make any dang sense
Here's my advise: buy a UW Superion from here, and a set of KO hands/feet from here. IMO, that package right there is the best bang/buck there is.

Yeah, now I look back at it I can see what you mean. I suppose I should clarify that my motivations towards crazy hybrid Superion aren't entirely cost based- My thoughts were that the TFC Aerialbot limbs were better toys than the CW ones (at least from what I've seen) and also come with decent hands and feet, whilst the CW Silverbolt is better than TFC Silverbolt- thus, combining the 3P limbs with the CW torso would make for a better Superion than either pure TFC or pure CW/UW, whilst also increasing "mold diversity". That said, GlauG hasn't made the adapters yet, and the TFC limbs are pretty expensive on the aftermarket (though I know they pop up on Mandarake separately for fairly sensible prices) so unless I can find 'em for fairly cheap I might not bother.
Thanks, I might do that.

I'm also having an ongoing Aerialbot dilemma like yourself. Mine's further complicated by my novice-level interest in all things that fly and fire, but this isn't a competition and you don't need me to potentially add to your dilemma.
The MakeToys rumour has been around for a while now I think with little evidence. Plus I read a comment on facebook from someone who claimed to have spoken to their representative at a convention who said they were going to focus on their Cross Dimension and Re:Master lines for the foreseeable future, so breath holding probably isn't advisable.
I agree with your comment that Superion should have a height advantage, but I wouldn't say using the TFC fast jets with Combiner Wars Silverbolt is the way to go. In addition to the aesthetic differences, you'd also have a difference in scale. I don't own the TFC figures, but photos suggest CW Silverbolt might only be a head taller. Lacking the bulk of TFC's Blackbird, I'm not sure the resulting Superion would look particularly awesome. Think FoC Bruticus. As shajaki pointed out, this is currently your most expensive option, and the end product is theoretical at this point.
I'd also say an upgraded Unite Warriors set is the best option at the moment. It's the one I went for. It's not my ideal solution but, as it appears neither of us are entirely sold on the options available, it's a decent, coherent set that doesn't cost the world, and so won't come as much of a blow if something does eventually outshine it.

I'm not sure. He's not technically compatible but adapters would be very easy to make.
