Having popped pieces on and off some Titans Return figures, I can safely say that Quake and Misfire (yes, I'm going to cut apart a jet to make cybertronian submarine, shut up, it's going to work! Just look up Submarauder's alt mode) won't suffer too much from the paint. The one which will be a pain is going to be Triggerhappy-turned-Bomb Burst. Fortunately he's the one that come out last.

Does Triggerhappy have any pins that A. only have an entry hole and B. hold body sections together? That's the case with Blurr's canopy pin.

A modification idea with TR Hot Rod I'm working on is as follows:
* Modifying his chest tuck so that it's only the bumper and edge of the front that get tucked away, the flame decoration is left intact. (done)
* Notching the underside of the bumper the same way the Legends version is notched. This gives clearance for the next step.
* Modifying the exposed engine block to rotate away just like on the Legends version. Also adding a 5mm port.
The Legends version's chest actually seems half-baked. Sure, it gives the engine block a 5mm port and makes it flip away in robot mode to be replaced by the proper orange panel. And it makes it so that the flame decal doesn't get broken up in robot mode. But without the bumper tucking in, the chest can't actually tab into the torso properly. And yet, that bumper has a notch on the bottom (where the TR version has those two small black vents) that's in the right position to give clearance for the engine block if the bumper did tuck away.

If we don't get an official Scorn retool of PotP Grimlock, I''m going to make my own.

Hi so...i have an idea for a simple custom, but i need help finding the right head. I need a head that looks good, matches the color as close as posable, and still funkion for a Combiner Wars Wheeljack body. Any help is appritiated. Thanks

Oh, that's VERY simple. GO NUT! Any head will do because it's not attached to the combiner port. It's fixed on a plate and the head store under the hood of the car. A space with PLENTY of room. If need be, change the head conector.

I did exactly that with the Postapocalicons. Just scroll until you see the VERY heavily modded CW Wheeljack:

Usually, I just look through my big pile-O-scraps and I improvise.

As for you, if you have a CW First Aid on hand, one that is scrapped or broken, his head will do the job. Furthermore, all CW deluxes have the same head size with the same ball joint connector. So all you'll have to do is to paint the head.

Ya i usually dig though my scrap wich i have plenty of (50gal bin 3/4 full). I'm just about out of good heads. No spare First Aid, i haven't even bought a extra one to make Ratchet.

And i hate to disagree , but the Alpha Bravo and Fireflight molds share a large ball joint size. The Frist Aid/Ironhide mold has a medeum. And all the others share a ball joint size (it's the same size as the inside of the Titan Masters, so if you wanted to you could use one as now nontransformable head). So to use First Aid's head on wheeljack's body you would have to make the ball joint larger and i have no clue how to do that

If the size difference is not too big, a couple of layers of Pledge Floor Finish on the ball joint and inside the ball joint socket may do the job. If the size difference is too large, I often change the back of the head, the one that have the socket, with a compatible one and I keep the face.

You know, I realize we mostly have the fitting molds to remake the Triggerbot and Triggercons, either as Legends or Deluxe class, especially with Windsweeper and Ruckus already remade as Deluxe as part of Thunder Mayhem.

Backstreet: Not sure about the Legends class one, but deluxe PotP Jazz.
Dogfight: Either Legends Seeker mold or any Deluxe Aerialbot-related mold.
Override: Legends or Deluxe Groove.

Crankcase: Legends Brawn and either Deluxe Offroad or First Aid with the sirens removed.
Ruckus: Legends Beachcomber.
Windsweeper: Legends seeker.

Ditching the combination gimmick does open up Titans Return molds, with Head Titan Masters being a nice stand-in for the Brainmaster gimmick. The problem is, there's only really a single Titans Return 'car' mold and that's Chromedome.

That custom could be more simple than you think. I would use Energon Prowl and Hotshot as the two main members:

The 3rd member would be a minicon.

You can up the ante by changing the heads. Change them completely or change just the face. The hard mode (but most interesting one) would be to try and figure out how to integrate the TR headmaster gimmick to these two.

Seriously, Energon Prowl and Hotshot are what look the closest to this:





And those are cheap, especially if you don't care about the gun.

I would say that Combiner Wars is your best bet
G2 Dragstrip as Blacker,
G2 Deadend (with a few parts from Smokescreen) as Braver,
G2 Wildrider or Sunstreeker as Laster,
And Fireflight as Saber
,but Kanrabat's idea was not a bad one

The only problem with CW is that we need a core bot. So WHO will fit? That's the trouble when it's based on a non-Scramble City combiner such as duocons or... triocons?

That was the thought that i had. You could just part swap most of it with Silverbolt, G2 Sivlerbolt, and the single release of Scattershot. Maybee someone on Shapeways could make a peace to conect the now Saber(fireflight) to the large the full Starsaber

Hot Rod's a car

I would say Power of the Primes Jazz for Braver. The car mode is right, and the Prime Armor thing kinda reminds me of the Brainmasters' combiner kibble armor.

Laster, the CW Breakdown mold can be made to work, yeah.

Blacker is tricky, but I think you could pull him off by heavily rebuilding someone who uses one of the following molds: Motormaster/Optimus, Silverbolt, Hot Spot/Onslaught . The The Silverbolt mold would take the most rebuilding and you'd probably have to invert the torso configuration, but it does give you a material for a lovely chestplate. Motormaster/Optimus... The hips already position as per Road Caesar's. There's car-type wheels. And honestly, that mold is better suited for Road Caesar's arm style than it is actually supporting CW limb robots as arms XD. Light on chestplate material though. Hot Spot/Onslaught, there's chestplate material and the hips configure as Road Caesar's do, there's wheels...

Although who knows, maybe Jazz's having Braver's altmode or close enough is a prelude to an official Generations Road Caeasar.

Moving on from that:
It occurred to me that Universe Cyclonus could work as a starting point for a more accurate Metalhawk. You might possibly also be able to use Hot Rod with some heavy bashing/re-shelling.

So here's a custom idea which is odd in that I've considered the concept several times, but never quite found the right mold for it. If anything, I'm hoping that the upcoming War for Cybertron trilogy, assuming it doesn't go into a drastically different art direction from the current Generations line, might actually have the mold I want/need. Problem is...I don't know what I need to make a Prima!

Prima is a guy whose had wildly inconsistent appearance, not helpd by the fact the lore on him varies heavily from continuity to continuity. Now, on one hand I'm tempted to grab a potential future Voyager or Leader Class Optimus Prime with a Cybertronian mode, as if the name of the next trilogy is anything to go by, it's we might see for altmodes. However, the weird thing is that I've never seen any actual evidence that any of the known Prima have a defined alternate mode. One could argue he's probably some sort of big land vehicle of some kind due to the whole Primes-are-usually-trucks but...for all I know he could be a space jet.

All I know for sure is that I want to paint him in a color scheme similar to the Aligned Prima:

But he'd probably look a lot less spiky if I used a 'neo G1' mold from Generations, obviously.

If anyone has an idea for a mold I hadn't considered, I'd be interested. I thought briefly of using a modded Titans Return Brainstorm or Scourge for a radically different take on him, but those are too small. I'd need something at least Voyager or Leader sized.

How about you take that iffy AoE / TlK Optimus Prime leader mold? I bet you can find one for dirt cheap or you already have one that you have regretted buying.



Now, TEAR OFF ALL THE TRUCK KIBBLES!

Replace the kibbles with parts of some spaceship, a freaking dragon, or something. Panels and thingamagings that would snap well together. Finally, swap the head or mod it. And there you go, a unique Prima!
