The new head looks much better. The smaller head gives more apparent mass to the figure, and makes him look larger than life. The larger the head in proportion to the body, the smaller the character appears to be. Conversly, the smaller the head in relation to the body, the larger, more massive he appears.

Just looks pinheaded, to me.
agreed, a major bo problem since the beginning of time. or at least since 1985

Mike's head is gigantic because he is meant to be viewed from his feet and things appear to become smaller as they go away from you. The same with the parthenon in greece, the pillars are actually bent off true in order to appear perfectly straight. Its called forced perspective. Not something that at all effect the viewing of a toy.

If you look at pictures of it where the camera was eye level you can see that the head is a little large, but if you actually see the statue in real life and look up at it then it seems to be perfect proportions.
He's about six and a half to seven heads high if you judge by photos.
exactly, david has an enormous head. forced perspective. I do not argue that mike exagerated his proportion, but in teh chappel seen on a curved surface from many feet below, and david also viewed from below the heads are exageratedly large because of the point of view. while all his religious works are intended to apear larger than life the heads were made larger to keep them from begoming pinheads when viewed by his audience.

Other then that... Looks amazing!
Yes, I know, which is why I put "concept art style" on the thread title to differentiate it from the style they used in the comics (which is the space gun). I like this design alot though so chose to scratchbuild it.
Lobo wrote:Also VP, Shockwave is supposed to be PURPLE. Even though the concept drawing shows him as WHITE, he's PURPLE! Just thought I'd clarify that for you!
would defeat the whole point of the character if he wasn't purple.Asphalt wrote:Lobo wrote:Man! You guys know how to derail a thread!
yeah you would think Shade was in here or something.choo choo back on track. Regardless of the head, he i still an amazing job. Too bad he has to be purple.
