With that Botcon reveal of Gigatron/Overlord I thought to myself: 'Gee, having Overlord as a first name sucks.' I mean, having your name correspond with your job is one thing... But overstating it as you go? This guy never was Decepticon overlord, there was always one guy higher up. And if you're familiar with the Masterforce cartoon, Japanese cartoons in general, you know they pronounce his name like Overlordo, which sounds like a breakfast cereal. A mass-murdering breakast cereal.

Overlord, IMO, makes a quick bid for having the worst name. And before you think about giving that title to Erector, consider the fact that he actually does erect something and therefore has a usefull name. He's not the only guy that could erect building materials, but at least his name implies that he does what he actually does.

i always though kup was a awful name. it was only 3 letters & it was a horrible way to abbreviate the word "pick up". kup sounded more like a drinking cup.

other worst names are a few of those beastwars names that added a "or" at the end of a real animal species. like CheetOR or WaspinatOR. TankOR was another horrible beastmachines name.

RhinOX made no sense. as he was a rhino. not a fuzor rhino+ox hybrid.

Sticking with Japan and their often odd names, Victory brought us the Multiforce: Dash, Tacker, Mach, Tackle, Wing and Waver. Each pair combined in a way similar to Powerlinking in Energon (in fact Powerlinking was based on it), with the two names combined, the name of the bot on top coming first. There are 30 possible combinations (31 if you count Landcross), and one particular combo has a rather interesting meaning:

Yeah, when my Generations Kup arrived in the post, my dad asked me what it was. When I said "Transformers Kup", he assumed it was a mug. He was really confused when I pulled a toy out of the box.

Anyway, my worst name would be Rodimus Prime. Because it sound like someone accidentally left the Matrix on a fence-post.

I never liked "Kup" either. I saw a char named Deceptica online once, may have been a fan art char not sure.

Starscream. Really. It doesn't fit hit personality, has nothing to do with a "screaming star." I never got where they came up with that. I understood Megatron, Shockwave, Soundwave, and others. Starscream? WTF? Just because he's a very popular character, doesn't make his name common sense or acceptable.

only one i can think of (off the top of my rather scrambled brain) is vehicon - its far too generic to be used as a singular soldier in an army

yeah it sounded cool in Beast Machines because it was a faction type - but in Prime its so generic....like a half-arsed attempt because someone couldn't think up a decent or semi-decent name for a trooper

With a name like Heinlad you better have some serious power to bring to the table. In his case, time manipulation. Which trumps everything in my opinion.

RipperSnapper is another doozy. Are you kidding me? That name just lends itself to stories you tell to your buddies at the pub drinkin some beers reminiscing over past sexual conquests and that "grenade" you took that one time (or two,i'm being conservative in that estimation, in my case) for the greater good, or that it was just there for the taking.
