Was still a surprise, and something I apparently didn't realize (or quickly forgot) about the purchase.

You shouldn't pass, it's a great figure. If you have Unicron, the fallen goes perfectly with him, all demonic and evil, and scultped beautifully. Due to limited funds, I cancelled my Hextatron for this, and I am sure it was the right decision as even though Sixshot has six modes and is probably fun that way, the design is aaalllrright, not bad. Doesn't compare to how good this looks imo.

I do like that, especially when you place Brawl's or Top Spin's handgun in the center. Fills out the cannon a little bit. I do prefer Bruticus and Ruination as "suicide kings", though this is a nice way to mix it up.
I never realized Beast Machines Cheetor could stand unassisted. I gave up years ago but my wife and I tag-teamed the toy this afternoon and got him to stand awkwardly.
Really, he's about to pounce and not poop in this picture. Maybe.

What annoys me is that his jetpack is more accurate than the character than actually has it in the cartoon.

I also just messed with Blot's connection a bit and found a way to hide the hammer handles better. Stands even on each leg, and each arm is decently close to the same length, as well as hangs clear of the body in neutral poses. Abominus rules.

Thanks dude!I was not going to stand for the crappy hasbro setup. When I first put it together and saw how the knees were, I was very dissapointed. But thanks to those extra weapons, you can actually get some sick poseability, propotions, and stability. It holds together quite well, and any lose joints can be fixed with a lil super glue.

And as an added bonus, that's my ideal G1 Abominus configuration.

I am astounded by how optimistically disappointed you can be about a figure set!
I respect your will to love Abominus (I love the G1 version far more), but I'm still completely shocked by your enthusiasm for what many would consider a "bad" product. Me? I hate this Abominus and expect Hasbro to do better. GLUE may "fix" the problems, but I don't spend $25 on something, just to have to glue it properly (unless it's a model kit, obviously).

You simultaneously lament the set, while also downplaying the flaws and talking about how awesome it is.

Uhm... okay. Well, I liked the concept of a cheaper, quick/easy to transform gestalt that happens to be monsters, and therefore had lee way for being crazy looking. After actually putting it together, I was dissapointed at the fact that the knees don't swivel, each leg stands akwardly due to different heights, making it all look gimpy once I could hold it in hand and can actually tell it was gimpy, rather than see photos of it taken to make it look better than it really was. The arms were always okay to me, and the rest was okay too, considering the other stuff i said I already liked.
Then, after I had modified it to have giant arms with conceivable fingers, and legs that were quite poseable, I now love it coz it takes 5 surprisingly cool looking, albeit rigid robots (if you like G1, then this shouldn't really bother you), and gives them a combiner mode that has better poseability than any G1 combiner.
Didn't think I had to spell it all out, but thats why I appear to dislike the figure, in its hasbro suggested configuration, but love it once I was able to fix my issues myself. It doesn't need glue to hold together, but the weight of each arm tends to draw each one down on the balljoint shoulder of Hun-grr. That is where you add glue for friction, not to have it actually stick in a permanent place. Hope that clears it all up. $25 isn't that much for this novelty. It's the only legends combiner that doesn't blow once I make it work for me, and each figure itself warrants it's purchase, and I usually don't even like legends/cyberverse/smaller and less poseable figures.
BTW, if you've been collecting long enough, you come to realize that even after spending a decent wad of cash on a bot you like, your going to get factory issues or whatever, and you either lump it, or spend the time to fix it and make it reach the potential it has. Just how Transformers are sometimes, especially with hasbro.

Yes, exactly, so why all the positive accolades for something that's admittedly flawed? Some people react with disappointment and frustration, I mean.

Disagree completely. The five bits fall apart mind of easy, and are NOT G1 quality. I don't have a G1 Rippersnapper who's head pops off constantly. The G1 limbs held in place, these do not (the connections are undeniably cheap and inedficient).
He's cheap, if you don't mind lousy construction and durability - chinese KOs? You have to wonder how close in quality they could reproduce this tiny Abominus (the KO might even improve on the durability).

Well thanks for the thoughtful response. I think I understood your point. I was only lamenting the lack of collector unity on these issues: seems we CANNOT agree that Hasbro did a lousy job. And if we can't agree, we are not sending the message. I love some Hasbro releases (i.e. Junkheap), but the quality is horribly inconsistent between releases and I want some support on how bad Abominus turned out. I kind of hope they lose their shirt and consider doing a better job next time (i.e. how the free market is supposed to work! Before government bailouts and blind collector support).[/quote]

Yes, this. But if you've been collecting as long as I have, you realize you are not locked into Hasbro's crap, like a poor slave. Playmates, Mattel, Jakks Pacific, and 3rd Parties (if you are stuck on just TFs). My point is that an abusive bf doesn't get better over time. You either demand better or just date other people!
