Things your Transformers can do that you never realised
Re: Things your Transformers can do that you never realised
Well, until a few years ago, I had no idea why so many of my G1’s (Prime, Trailblazer, Grimlock, Kickback, etc) had seats for little action figures, though I DID always have my suspicions...

DOTM Ultimate Optimus Prime's feet (lower legs, technically) can rotate outwards, not just flex sideways at the ankle. There's a little bit of interference from the leg panels, but a little trimming makes it smooth. Now he has more articulation! Which still isn't saying much.

Two things i didn't realize about my Battle Blades Optimus Prime figure.
I was trying to use the Seibertron gallery to get a better look at how to stow away his cannons on his back and found out 2 aspects about him which the instructions didn't mention... and i didn't even do any tries myself for all those fifteen weeks i've had him.
1- I wondered if his fists were meant to be sunk in behind the arm plates but i found out the said plates were movable.
2- Didn't know the wheel fenders on his shins could be rotated upward by 90°, now he has better ankle movement.
And i found about these problems because the instructions specifically didn't mention how to fix him and i thought the robot mode in the box was correctly transformed.

Good ol' BB Prime eh?
Yeah, you can also de-tatch the side wheels on his lehs from the leg pegs their on to allow better leg posability.

Oh, and there's another little feature on this guy that goes undocumented in the instructions. He has a joint that allows you to flip out the head much easier. His back (the blue plastic) can be detached from his chest (the grey plastic) during transformation. It pivots along the pin at the bottom of the blue plastic. You need to apply quite a bit of force, feels like you're about to break him, but it's completely intentional and helps A LOT and can save you some potential paint chipping on the nice silver apps on his head.
Here's some (very cruddy) photos.
PLEASE NOTE: the side panels DO have to be pulled out from were they sit in vehicle mode and the abs/windshield sections will probably pop off (though they're on ball joints so can easily be popped back on!)

You can also extend his feet (In the instructions, but often overlooked by some {Like me}) Giving him a better range of posability, but I didn't know that cab piece popped loose! Awesome!
Another thing I noticed. DOTM Shockwave. Every photo I see of him has his pipe connected to his shoulder...That's not right people!
You know those two fork things that fold down on his back and connect to that third peg/thruster/tower thing? Well, connected lower on that thing is ANOTHER moveable mechtach port, you rotate it down, and the pipe connects to his lower back, NOT his shoulder. I cannot provide pictures, but test it, you'll see what I mean....

Already figured that out before you guys posted it. Man BB-Prime sure has a lot of tweakable attributes.

Well, silly me. I never realised the RotF Cannon Bumblebee mold has a set of hinges in the hips. Never really found their purpose tho.

The targetmaster pinpointer can make a front gun for Skyhammer. Thats somthing that fits this thread.
Then I just showed off how Tailpipe can sorta take gun placement position behind Landsharks tow arm...

It's been years but I always wondered why Fort Max's head tended to flop about once connected to his main body. His instruction manual never quite dealt with this.
But I recently fiddled with him and left Spike connected to Cerebros and transformed him to Fort Max head mode and stuck him to the main body. Well, the head stopped flopping.
I've always wondered why there was an empty compartment underneath (so that's what it's for?)it served like a peg hole for his "neck" aka Spike.
That feature was absent/not mentioned in his manual( you were supposed to keep Spike in the left chest compartment of Fort Max, though in Headmasters anime, it was more or less implied.

I was playing with Soundwave and realized I could stuff his gun into his back compartment. Then a few years later they were supposed to mimic AA batteries.
I also just learned that the G1 gesalt bosses could attach to Metroplex. I always thought that Silverbolt had a wierd ramp-like look mid-transformation. Now I finally know!

Not all of them, actually! It's just Silverbolt, Motormaster, Onslaught and Hotspot, so Strafe, Hun-grr and Snaptrap will have to sit this one out. Although all of the limbs from each of these teams CAN interact with Metroplex due to them all using the same peg to combine!
