Don't forget about the gold bullion and perhaps the marriage of one's first born daughter as acceptable forms of payment.

But hey, at least he's offering free shipping.

Sadly I doubt he'll get any takers.

Mostly because of the other stuff there. Whoever wants the Macross stuff. will likely not want every single piece of the TF stuff, and whoever wants the female action figures there probably won't like macross and TF's, and viceversa.

I think if he at least splits them into lots by category, or even by line he'd be able to sell them off, and make more than the quarter million he's asking.

What he wants is to basically just win the lottery by selling this as a lot. And honestly he should have know when he needed to rent an apartment only for them that it was starting to become a sickness, and not a hobby.

True. Though I wonder exactly how much money this guy makes that he can 1) afford all this stuff, since there's recent product there too and several multiples and 2) the apartment itself. Maybe the 225,000 is just pocket change to him? I'm kind of tempted to message him and say that if he wanted to sell all that stuff individually, or even in lots like you said, he'd probably make well over what he's hoping for in the lot. I'm surprised to see that for such an avid collector he has no BotCon/TFCC or even Japanese exclusive stuff though...

Personally, I say he should've bought a boat to display them all on instead. It'd be a lot cooler.

True too...

He redefines the phrase "Disposable Income". He really has many duplicates. Seems like he just picks up everything he sees. Heck he might just order cases of them avoid the hassle of actually going out to stores.

TF's on a boat = Coool. Heck he could probably commission a hovercraft that looks like SeaSpray and display them on there.

You wouldn't say that if it was your collection on a boat the day after a hurricane!

My initial thought was also "there's no way he'll sell this lot in one lump". What collectors have 1/4 million to drop on TFs?

The display looks interesting with the choices he/she made with groupings, etc. I also liked the use of VHS tapes to help level the shelves, so figures are on different levels. Now that's creative.

I think one can certainly start questioning this person as to 'why', when you see the pics of the several dozen TFA Target exclusives, and Voyager Classics Prime as well (two examples) MISB... huh?

He definitely has some Beast Wars Neo toys in the mix. And as far as TFCC/Botcon stuff goes, I recall seeing the Astrotrain exclusive and an Onyx Primal (remember him!?) in there, just off the top of my head. But, he certainly doesn't have the quantity of duplicates that he does with the American releases. It seems like he must have had a significant bump in income around 2003 or so, because the collection seems heavily weighted towards Armada and beyond, although nearly every line and sub-line is represented to some extent or another.

Whoever ends up getting this lot...if anyone ends up getting this lot...will be able to make a bit back by selling off all the duplicates in that set. Or, if they're so inclined, someone could probably make most of that back and break up the lot into two or three-figure sets. Lump the clearly-unpopular figures with the popular ones and sell as a set (for example, it'd likely be hard to get rid of a Universe Galvatron...until you pair him with a Classics Rodimus).

There's money to be made here. I just wonder if he's going to be able to make any and sell it as a lot at this price.

If I were a NBA all star player and just started collecting toys now, I will certainly help him to buy them all with no problem. And I even will pay the rent for him to save his money on packing and shipping. But I am not a NBA player. Thanks.

I'm on a boat mother f*, take a look at me, I'll be playing with my Tfs on the deep blue sea. Lol, sorry, I just couldn't resist that one.

Anywho, this really reminds me of that show a while back with the pawn shop guys. Guy had 6 of everything and even he didn't ask that much. Just plain ridiculous to me. He's got a snowball's chance in hell of selling it for that price. Then again, a fool and his money will soon part...

Edit: did anyone notice that in one of the pics he has over 10 Animated Sunstorms? What the hell...

Unbelievable. I repeat, UNBELIEVABLE

I couldn't agree more with those of you who have stated that for this TF fan, it has gone beyond being a hobby and is now truly a sickness.

If you really love Transformers and have a big collection and it makes you happy then great. But wow, I think he has just lost all willpower to say 'I don't need that one, I already have it.' or 'That figure is on sale but I don't really like it so I'll leave it.'

I fear becoming like this. I never want to have a collection even 10% as big as this. I love collecting Transformers but have strict rules: G1 reissue/homage ONLY. That means Encore/whatever the G1 reissue line is called at the time, Generations/Classics and Masterpiece and i only buy about 25% of what gets released in the latter 2 (I don't have space for/want to spend cash on repaints like Sleep Prime, cool though he was or any figure that isn't G1 accurate like Generations 'Blurr').

I also am constantly updating my collection. To hell with buying complete lines, if I bought any figures for this purpose, even if I don't really like the figure/character then it's getting sold and the money can be used to buy a figure that i really want. That means that my hobby whilst not being self financing, doesn't eat up all my cash.

For me it's the only way to avoid getting into a similar, albeit on a smaller scale, situation to this guy.

Good luck selling your collection my friend, keep a few of your favourites for old times sake and try splitting it up into separate lots - you've already got all the pictures, just do it - you have a much better chance of selling everything!!

I wonder if I had to display my entire collection how big of a place I would need. At last count I had 3000+ TFs (I lost count a while ago). But I could only display about 20% of that in my little apt, the rest are in storage. The thought of having to go thru and organize all my TFs into different lots for sale scares me. When the time comes for me to let go of the collection, I just might do what this guy is doing set a high price and hope someone with the wealth just wants to acquire a decent collection without the stress of tracking individual figures down.

Forget selling them: Put out advertisements, print up little "information cards", and open the apartment as a museum, with paid admission of course.

But no, I will NEVER be like that.
