I watched a review of Trypticon by one of your competitors, Peaugh, last night. He mentioned something about janky hip joints being isolated to a certain batch number. Does anyone here know anything about that?

I have seen that mentioned around the interwebs as well, there were even batch numbers given, but I have no idea where I read it or what they were.

My Trypticon's code is 71461. It seems to be OK, except for a floppy door issue which was easily fixed by tightening one screw.

Working on the gallery of him. I even came up with little base modes for Combiner Wars Motormaster and Onslaught to go with ol' Trypticon.

Next issue I noticed with mine, floppy tail ramp. Does anyone elses ramp have this issue. I think there were supposed to tabs to keep it attached to the main tail section, but they were never there for me.

Perhaps it's the same issue as the floppy chest door to which Full-Tilt attaches, which is easily fixed by tightening some screws. Have you tried tightening any of the screws in the tail section to put more pressure on the ramp?

Did you have any problems with the front of the spaceship mode flopping? Mine doesn't want to lock in and only looks to be in place when it's actually sitting.

Nope didn't have that problem either. Mine locks into place.

I can try that, but I definitely think a tab got sheered off at some point pre-packaging. I think Burn's picture shows a very small tab in the tail. If I can, I will share a picture with you guys.

Oh wow. Seeing those two side by side, the Titan class toy is way more detailed than the original. Look at all those smooth surfaces on the G1 toy by comparison.

After looking at your picture several times, I can definitely say my Trypticon definitely has tabs that sheered (or broke) off. This would have definitely happened prior to my opening the box too.
If you look at the ramp on your picture, there look to be 2 tabs near the end of the ramp on either side, designed to hold it in place in robot or spacecraft mode.

Here is my ramp, notice it looks like a piece has broken off. Curiously, the other side doesn't appear to have a breakage at all, but it is flat as though it was molded without the tab.

Unless I'm missing something, it appears your ramp has at least one tab, I can't tell if the other side has a tab from the pic you provided. However, the tab that is present on your ramp is located at a different position than the tabs on my Trypticon's ramp. Not sure how that comes into play.

Sorry, I'm still confused. Is there a corresponding tab on the other side or does yours only have 1 tab? The tab that the arrow is pointing at looks the same as my tabs but in a different position.

What you are pointing to in that picture is where I believe a tab should be, but it is sheered totally flat, like a tab broke off of it.

It looks as the the there are 2 different tail ramp molds too. Here are 2 different views to help clarify:

Yah there should be two distinct small tabs on the ramp. Next time you see a Trypticon, I'd buy one, swap the ramp out, put a note on the box that there is a defective ramp on that Trypticon, and then return it! Problem solved.

Or you could deal with calling Hasbro's customer service.

I may end up doing that. For now, I am fine with it as is. The way the ramp is designed, it stays tucked when in T-Rex mode anyway, because the tail touches the ground. Although it is definitely weird that there are 2 distinct molds for that part, one with the dual tabs near the edge, and one without. Because, if you notice, where your tabs are, mine are totally smooth without any indication there should have even been tabs there.

That may not actually be a tab. Is there a corresponding slot on Trip for such a tab to go into?

To me, mordhelm's pic looks like a sprue trim mark. Yet, I also do not see a corresponding tab or stress marks nearer the end of the ramp as on Seib's Trypt. It could be a "short shot" where not enough plastic was crammed into the mold (or the plastic temp was too low when flowing) and the tabs didn't form.

I'm getting my Trypt next week. When I get him, I'll look at that area and compare it with my plastics molding experience...
