Sure they do. But you see, I actually dont like this Skylynx. I feel kind of jipped that instead of giving us his gimmick of being 2 animals that can combine, they instead take that away and give him one robot mode that can then combine with others.

While I agree, I like the new style of making it a combining gimmick, it works for me

Looking at the design for the new toy, I wonder if it was possible to make two animals. It still looks like a Space Shuttle on top of a blue walker. They probably could've made it able to separate, but the budget would have to allow for extra animal parts for each component.

That kind of Budget would have been allotted for a leader class version. But this being a voyager, I can see why there is only so much they could do.

Still leaves a good first impression. And the IDW character hasn't split like that in a while, so it works

But enough ranting, here's my list:
5. The Classics Seeker mold, which while one size class too small to properly match many of its fellow Classics molds is nevertheless a fine update of the G1 design, and goes nicely with G1 toys.
4. Universe Cyclonus. Pretty much retains the original jet mode while more neatly dealing with the forward fuselage in robot mode, looks like the show in robot mode, and even has his Targetmaster partner. A pity the updates of the other two members of the unholy trinity (Especially Galvatron) did not do quite so well; they might have done better to stick closer to their original toys' designs as Cyclonus did. Plus since they were given Earth modes while he kept his original mode, they don't match.
3. Generations Jazz. Manages to mostly capture the elegant curves of his original altmode (much better call than Prowl, Bluestreak, and Smokescreen being given the Fairlady's ugly modern counterpart), has plenty of appropriate accessories, well-articulated, and unlike the Alternators version he has that lovely splash of color
2. Masterpiece Grimlock. Thanks to Dery basically not messing the Dinobots up at all, the designer did not hit that stumbling block. Well-articulated, accurate, and basically only held back by the electronics gimmick. Plus, gotta love the cartoon accessories.
1. Takara Masterpiece Rodimus Prime. Despite the QC issues, I consider him the superior figure to the Hasbro "We're not even going to provide a cardboard press-out of the Rodebago shell" release. Beyond the trailer, the size granted to Masterpiece figures means he's not dwarfed compared to the G1 Galvatron mold, which remains the most-show accurate transforming mold of G1 Galvatron.
* Cyb. Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Leader Sentinel Prime sword, shield
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* Leader Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* Cyb. Wing Saber left chestplate (argh)

Ahahahahaha- *GAME SHOW ERROR BUZZER* WRONG!!!

Look and compare, buddy! It's the one on the right, the final design, that's more accurate to the toy! Just check out those details!!

The front mouth guard is flat in the right anime image. The G1 toy had the mouth guard sloping. The head is more oblate spheroid (G1 toy). The picture on the left is more G1 toy accurate. The one on the right is 20 years advance style of the MP. If you can't see that you need some laser eye surgery.
Anddddddd. You mentioned F.Dery not mucking up the dinobot designs "at all". As my statement posted, there were some transitional designs. Bzzzzzzzzzzzt

Something tells me you've got the wrong Jazz. This below is generations Jazz, one of the worst toys ever:

Also, when you say the seekers are one class lower than they should be, does that mean they should be the same size as classics Megatron and Optimus?

You know, that picture on the left makes me think that this is what the energon to was going for. Maybe I was a little too hard on the guy.

Yeah I picked him up on impulse keeping it MISP hoping we see something soon by Takara. This guy is just too small and the pics posted in the Seibertron gallery with his G1 counterpart show just how dwarfed he gets.
I feel we do get some what duped in the end despite the whole CW gimiick. I was bummed that they didn't even give this Sky Lynx his mouth cannon...wtf?

I'd like to suggest RTS Jazz and Universe 2.0 Hound while I'm at it...neither of which I own, admittedly, but as far as I know they're both universally well liked. I'd also like to suggest the Takara decos of Classics Megatron (AKA the only gun-Megatron I have ever been tempted by) and Legends class Shrapnel and Optimus Prime (both of whom are awesome considering their tiny size).

But even then, aside from Kup in 5th place, I dont think anything came out which dethrones the rest. What do you guys think?
If the list were to be redone today, what would be diffferent?

Removing the MPs since its their shtick to be better than anything else, I'd say the Prime Wars Trilogy gave us at least Triggerhappy, and Blurr Updates that are worth mentioning.
There's also the very good Jumpstarter updates.
And I would argue Siege Magnus is going to want a word with you about being one of the better updates to G1 Magnus in a while that is not an MP.

Yeah I think its best we wait. OR we could leave this list be and then make eventually 2 new ones:
Best Updates from Prime Wars Trilogy and Best Updates from WFC trilogy.
We could start working on that first one now. I have a question for you D-Max, what do we do with Abominus. I agree he's awesome but he is also several toys in one so maybe not as fair when compairing to Trigerhappy. We could instead say Blot (since he is the best) and the terrorcons. Like that evn though we mention them all, at least we declare a winner that can stand to par with anyone else on the list alone.
So Blot and the terrorcons, the jumpstarters, Blurr (Legends version), Trigerhappy and... Sky Shadow? Or Trypticon? Or Battletrap? Anyways whoever gets left out of those last 3 I mentioned become the honourable mentions.
And Overcracker, for lists looking at things in general, I do include MPs, exactly for the reason you say, that they should be better. But the deal is they are not always better. The best Hot Rod toy out there is not an MP, for instance, and neither is the best Movie Optimus toy. There are some toys out there which equal MPs in ingenuity of design at a fraction of the cost (Prime line and Animated line are good examples), making consumers get more bang for their buck. By putting MPs on its own standard, we lose track of how good other toys can measure up to them and how much some MPs have simply not cut it. So for all these reasons, I feel MPs should never be ignored.
