WJ, It is a great list even if Tidalwave doesn't make no. 1. A lot of cool bots on there.

Very good list, I must say. Though I'd have liked Energon Mirage/Dreadwing to at least get an honourable mention, along with, of course, the Seacons (though that's already been mentioned).
Cybershark seems a bit of an odd choice for number 1 though. Now granted I don't own him, but he seems a bit...pedestrian? I would have gone with TM2 Cybershark/RID Skybyte, or even Beast Wars II Hellscream. BW Rampage would have been a good mention...but I might just be saying that because of my unhealthy obsession with BW Rampage, and crab-bots in general (Nautilator, BW Razorclaw, Octopunch etc...).

That's fine, it's what I've come to expect from his Stalker hatred. But now it's clearly obvious that his hatred towards G1.5 figures extends to G2 figures.
Manta Ray. Making speed boats cool way before that PCC loser Undertow.

I do love that Energon Sharkticon made the list, I love that figure for some reason. I would have probably put him and TW as the top two, then Seaspray. I honestly don't know where I'd go after that.

I did mention that one.. at least.
Rodimus Prime wrote:5. Voyager Seaspray

3. Galaxy Force Thunderblast (and BotCon Elita)
2. G1 Seacons
1. Armada Tidal Wave (and repaints)
Honorable mention: RiD Sky-Byte for the shark mode. Robot mode and transformation are subpar, but water-themed alt mode is top notch
Gorgeous list, thanks! By the way, while her name is Thunderblast in the Cybertron line, she is Galaxy Force Chromia. And the reason I didnt put her on my list is because I greatly dislike that mold (she made honourable mention here) and think it's one of the most overrated toys ever. That list will be up someday too, looking forward to the comments
But really, thanks for the list, I wish more people wrote their top 5 too so that we can get a sense of everyone's taste.
Also, why would you pick RID Sky-Byte over TM2 Cybershark, do you preffer the deco on Sky-Byte? I had that mold and much preffered the update Takara did with Gelshark, who is in my honourable mentions. They found an awesome way to take care of his big shell and have both robot and shark mode looking like sleek deadly killers. Plus, the update makes his chest actually be the shark head, I found that pretty incredible.

Thanks man! And I did mention Energon Mirage, I too think he is awesome. That headsculpt is killer!
And yeah aside from Octopunch, I did exclude a lot of G1. Thats because I do compare all toys being equal, which I get might not be fair to some. But by doing that, a lot of G1 usually seems dated in comparison. These lists are meant to help show different parts of this hobby to those that might not be aware of it all. And I find it hard to recomend G1 outright to people starting since its very much a world of its own. Some lists will have G1 when its appropriate and when a G1 toy does rise above the rest (like when looking at best car alt modes for instance, or G1 scattershot being a really cool looking cybertronian ship). But for the most part, G1 usually gets its own lists because it is so hard to compare with toys that have more articulation and that arent as dated (like the Sharkticon I mention which might be almost 15 years old but whos articulation, deco and playability is as good if not better than today's toys).
As for BW Rampage, thats very interesting, because I considered him more land, especially with those treads. But yeah, he is water themed, as crabs are (though I associate them more to the shore than outright being in the water, unlike a shark or a boat, but thats just me).
You know, this is making me think that this water theme is far greater than some may have thought. And while some people have now learnt of Undertow, I have now learnt of Manta. So thanks Burn. He does look terrible though
If anyone can name more water themed TFs not covered yet, don't be shy.
Here's a few more although they wouldnt make the list:

Transformers Beast Machines Hammerstrike Gallery

BW Razorclaw

Transformers Beast Wars Sea Clamp (Gimlet) Gallery

Yeah, that one actually looked the best of the lot lol
If we include 3P, MMC's Hearts of Steel Shockwave is pretty neat, and the new TFC Seacons combiner set looks to be shaping up nicely.

That's Revenge of the Fallen Depthcharge. He's a fun toy but his legs aren't the best, I would of preferred if more of the boats hull folded away but I guess that would be too much for scout class.

Yeah, I hear ya. Would a top 5 aquatic G1/G1.5/G2 TF toys be overkill?

That's fair enough. To the best of my knowledge, crabs (or at least some crabs) do spend a lot of time actually underwater on the sea floor. IIRC Rampage is styled after a king crab, which is definitely an undersea/bottom feeder crab.
(Actually...a TF that turns into a Japanese giant spider crab would be both awesome and terrifying.)
If anyone can name more water themed TFs not covered yet, don't be shy.
I can think of a few, though they're more amphibious than strictly water-based. Beast Wars Basics Snapper...

Beast Wars Fuzors Terragator (who isn't going to win any awards for being a good toy but has an awesome beast mode, which sort of makes up for his atrocious robot mode. A bit.)...

And of course, the Tako Tank!

Ah, poor Shortround. One of the few Transformers to have a fairly convincing toilet mode.
Hammerstrike! If only his robot mode wasn't so terrible, 'cause that shark mode is great!
BW Razorclaw
I'd love to get this guy one day. He has a really simple transformation that still works well, and the sculpted detailing on his is killer. Gotta love Kenner and their sculpting work.
Y'know, speaking of Sea Clamp and Tripredacus in general, I'd love to see a proper update for ol' Trippy (that BotCon abomination doesn't count). 2 of his components are great but Ramhorn kinda sucks (at least from what I've seen). Third parties take note!

Just making sure though, thats a shark head he has right? Reminds me of a street shark:

And you can take my word for it, Beast Wars Ramhorn is a terrible toy when he is not a limb. Especially the robot mode. But his transformation into the 2 arms is pretty cool and very well done.

He's in the honourable mentions since I do love that toy (Legends Gelshark). I wasnt gonna have 2 sharks on the list (that gives me an idea for a top 5 sharks list) and I do feel Cybershark is better for how much he accomplishes. He also has better hands

Did you know he was initially made by Takara to be a Microman Playset? Thats why he is so different from everything else.
Other problem I had with depthcharge was I got him the same time as skystalker, so he just paled in comparison
Seems to be you only have limited choices with boat hulls and transformations
