You'd think after AoE a giant robo Dinosaur like Trypticon would be popular....

Well according to rumours, we might be getting a G1 rerelease this year...

The only way I could see them doing the Dinobots is if they went the AOE route and made them all different colors so as not to have too much similar looking toys on the shelves. G1 accurate colors would be an exclusive (and probably more expensive)

But Hasbro is issuing 3 similar looking jets this year for Superion. If color was the big deal, they would have sold them in vehicle mode, where they are easier to distinguish, but they didnt. I think as long as they rest of the dinobots get released not more than 2 at a time, there is no need for such drastic changes.

The three Superion jets were all different colors. White, Red, Grey&Black. The forth black jet was released in the next wave. Besides, I though that was the reason Hasbro gave for coloring the AOE Dinobots all different colors so that they all don't look the same to kids. I could be wrong.

Firstly, the different coloured Dinobot hypothesis was never confirmed (though it makes sense).
Also, as I stated, the Superion jets were shown in robot mode, where a significant color difference was NOT in effect. The jets are different colours, big time, but if Hasbro clearly did not bring the colours into evidence since, and I repeat, THEY WERE IN ROBOT MODE WHERE WE DO NOT SEE THOSE DIFFERENT JET COLOURS.
Heres the example using Takra (since they are all jets here). The Jet mode is clearly the one with the colour differentiation and Hasbro did not capitalize on it, since they werent on the shelves in vehicle mode.

Hence, this is proof that colour coding is not guaranteed to be a tactic from hasbro and thus we cannot automatically assume that any further dinobot toys will not follow the G1 colours.

I'd like to see Elita-one...
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.
TFCon List: Classics Skywarp, General Optimus, BW Airrazor, Transmetal Tarantulus, Alternity Prime, Fire Convoy

Re: Top 5 Transformers Generations Figures not made yet
PowerMaster Optimus has been mentioned a couple of times, but I bet they'd also do an Armada retool like with Megatron. Seems like a no-brainer: both have trailers that turn into battle stations or legs to combine with the cab. I just hope it would be more than the head swap Megatron got, but I'd probably buy both again
As for Trypticon, what I'd hope for is some way for him to interact with other CW figures as a callback to how G1 Motormaster and Onslaught could be added on to the city mode.

Huh... Just had a thought. What if they do a chromia style retool on CW Ultra Magnus into power master Prime? The engineering is there to kinda fudge it.

I honestly don't think it would take them too much to change it. It would be a worthwhile investment given the repaints PMOP had, plus they might be able to develop God Bomber.

Make them imposing figures that transform topped off with the "Man-E-Faces" treatment.
What would you like them to transform into? Just curious.

Good point. I felt pretty much the same. Beautiful paint job, nice colors. Still just looked like Springer in a Rodimus disguise.

I definitely agree with these K. I want Deluxe Sharkticons though.
WJ, you may have addressed Tryppy before, and I totally understand how those are two different categories, and thanks for the link as it is cool to see again, but for one who is reading and responding, the categories are not as strong in one's mind and either forgotten or the difference doesn't matter, and all we hear is "who needs a new figure," total respect to you, your work, and the divisions, (I love categories and organized divisions) just different focus for those who aren't directly involved.
I am looking forward to reading the rest of these pages, I've just been busy. I'm only on page one right now.

The Armada line was pretty hit and miss with some figures who felt like a major step back from RID line so updating some of those Characters would be cool.Generations has already given us Armada Megatron, Hotshot and Starscream so I wouldn't mind seeing some more redoes of Armada figures. A new Leader Class Armada Optimus Prime would be pretty cool with a Jetfire and maybe Overload to combine with him. I wouldn't mind seeing Red Alert, Demolisher and Cyclonus getting new figures either.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't consider Energon redecos to count as Generations figures. I also don't particularly like Energon OS. Not as G1 OS anyway, on his own he's probably fine, not that I have that mold anyway. Not saying people can't use it as a stand in if they want, but that shouldn't keep the big guy off a list of Gen figures not made yet. Because a Gen Omega Supreme hasn't been made yet.
I thought along those lines and so did others, hence why I made sure to mention him at the end of my article
Although, here's a question for you all: what would a Generations Titan Class Omega Supreme look like?
Would he turns into a rocketship base with a tank on rails? If so how could Hasbro and Takara pull it off without it being a partformer like G1?
I would be fine with a part former for Omega Supreme, if it were done well. I would like it if it were done like Tidal Wave. Separate little modes that can work individually, that can also fully combine with the rocket for takeoff.
It would be cool to make Omega Supreme and then retool it (as much as they did for Sandstorm and Chromia) into Tidal Wave. You could totally make a combined rocket ship flat on top to be an air craft carrier. Giant Omega, Giant Tidal Wave. Awesome!
Or a re-imagined not-partformer, but just a transformer Omega Supreme like Animated would be very cool.

Re: Top 5 Transformers Generations Figures not made yet
Pretty much every G1 character from 1986 to 1993 deserves another crack at the whip. Let's see; every Headmaster whose name isn't Brainstorm (Gen. Nightbeat and TFCC Chromedome ain't up to it), every Targetmaster whose name isn't Cyclonus or Scoop, all the Throttlebots, Clones, Terrorcons, a non-pinheaded Punch, Sixshot, Quickswitch, Triggerbots, Triggercons, Powermasters (the Movieverse Getaway was okay, but not quite right), all Turbomasters whose name isn't Scorch (especially Rotorstorm), Predators, all Axelerators not named Rapido or Carzap, all Skyscorchers, all Aquaspeeders, Stormtroopers, Trakkons and Lightformers (ABSOLUTELY NOT THE CRAPPY TFCC IRONFIST)
Is that list too long? Ah well, time to get on it Hasbro.

Hey R,
Good thinking, it is logical. But I think the movie toys were aimed primarily at younger fans, and parents buying the toys, thus odd color changes would not be a significant draw back. With Generations their aim would be adults and 1984 accurate colors would be more appealing to the people actually making the purchases.

Dude, thank you. Well said. I get tired of people arguing if FOC fits with Classics or Generations etc. By all means, make your case and explain it, I like hearing different peoples' thoughts, I like perspectives and theories, just don't get all worked up about it. People try to argue that Hasbro intends this or that, or that this counts or not. I want to hear what works for you and what doesn't, just in a cool positive way. Hasbro is just trying to make money and crank out toys. If it makes them money by making us happy then they want to make us happy. They have their priorities and they go the extra mile sometimes. If cost weren't an issue I am sure they would put out:
- a classic of everyone,
- a modern update of everyone,
- a Cybertronian mode of everyone,
- alternatives for everyone.
- In varying sizes as well. (They already are to an extent)
I guess we are completionists and they are capitalists. I'm not bagging on them, I love the services they provide, just ruminating on intentions, reasons, and perspectives.
If it makes us happy and it makes them money then it is a win-win. The more they mix and match the more it keeps people collecting (buying) longer.
You said it just right and people need to remember that. I didn't mean to write so much on this topic. I was seriously going to write one sentence. Good discussion WJ, PR, and others.
They are just putting out a buffet and we can pick and choose what we like. They pay attention and change their selection from time to time.
