Another amazing figure, another amazing figure that 90% of people can't get due to exclusivity, high price or lack of availability.

I'm really not sure what the problem is with them.

Granted, I don't like the Skids mold from G1, but don't those molds use the Cross-cut head and come with the Diaclone scooter?

Really now, price aside, what was so wrong with them?

I've actually been wanting the skids and Mudflap repaints from this group.

I want Stepper bad. Hopefully I'll start working soon because this is going to be a expensize summer.

I've already had to decided that I won't be able to go as crazy as I wanted on DOTM with my current project of completeing my AEC and finishing off my missing classics stuff.

Character profile, P.R. etc. Remember that even in Japan, despite being massively improved over the original, Steeper was a shelf warmer? It looks like no one even cared for him. Back story not withstanding. He was billed as a separate entity. If he was an upgrade of the Jazzmeister then that might be another thing.

So this offering is a big risk to even manufacture.

Yeah, I've got some G1. But regardless of that, I just don't feel it with them. And to an extent ... Animated Elite Guard Optimus Prime isn't even 'that' great either. It's color scheme is nasty, and the placement of it's Elite Guard symbol is just odd. So yeah, I don't think Million Publishings' record is that great, sans Mirage, Screamer and now this beauty.

Yep. Sounds like a winning combination to me.

Modestly on-topic:

Counterpunch wrote:At any rate, harping on Skids and Mudflap is so passe.

Wholeheartedly disagree. No matter how exhausted that discussion became in the media and the forums back in '09, harping on Skids and Mudflap is completely relevant as long as Hasbro and TT continue to release toys of these characters.

Off-topic: I tip my hat to Michael Bay for claiming the Twins are not in Dark of the Moon.

Completely off-topic: Remember when Ebert visited our discussion forums? That was fun.

And I'd disagree about those two as well. We already had a blue transparent Mirage so a black transparent Mirage wasn't really an original idea, nor was it really a desirable toy. Transparent ghost Starscreams are desirable to me but not necessarily original. Neither figure brings a whole lot to the table unless you are into the whole transparent toy craze.

Original characters or mold repaints into new characters are something desirable to a much wider audience, much moreso than than the 5th or 6th repaint of a mold the majority of us already own. I'd say Stepper is the first hit out of the ballpark for them.

This was on the cards from day dot IMO but I never thought it would look so rad. I need this!

So will you have to pre-order the book from them for this?

Yes, or via an online store if you live outside of Japan, since you can only buy the toy with a coupon that comes with the book.

Also, it's actually pretty hilarious that this thing is so highly demanded, the original was considered super duper rare and was one of the more expensive toys to get, then the reissue (which is superior to the original due to the high amount of accessories) came out and had to be sold off for a tenner each due to it being the biggest shelf warmer. And now the demand is supper duper high again.

Interesting post here.

I thought the ED Ligier figure was a much better looking figure than the blue one. It might not have been original, but that black and clear is awesome.

I like the idea of making new characters from old molds, but do they appeal to a wider audience? Do you think more people would want a new version of an obscure character or a different (possibly cooler) repaint of a popular character?

Only being familiar with the G1 US cartoon, I am not interested in Stepper at all.
