Without the show, I can see where you are coming from, but Prime Starscream is my favorite Starscream of all time. You can't help but smile at his. He is cunning, coward, and betrayer all wrapped up into one. Like take the best attributes of most Starscreams in recent times and wrap them up and you have Prime Screamer. Just a great character, and his voice acting is superb.
I will buy both version of Starscream. I couldn't wait until next spring to finally have a version of this guy, so I will get the Deluxe in anticipation of the Voyager.

G1 Legacy wrote::BANG_HEAD: All I can say is disappointing. Peter Cullen peaked my curiosity at Botcon last year when he first announced his and Welker's involvment in Transformers Prime. After getting over the title of the series I gave it a decent shot last fall and unfortunatley I just can not get into this series, and this figure is a case in point.
I'm not going to blame HASBRO on this one, afterall they simply had to meet the demand of the shows character designers/creators. It's those creators that I hold responsible. They had an opportunity here to create a completely new look for all of our favorite G1 icons and THIS is what they came up with? I know highschool kids and Graphic Arts freshman who could have come up with a better design. I might have been able to swallow this better if this mold had been introdced as a completely new character, but as Starscream?
His alt mode is awful...I'm sure somebody is gonna try to correct me but he doesn't seem to look like any actual existing Military aircraft, kind of a mixed jumble actually, and shaped a little like a Harrier jump jet. And the missiles on his arms look like old fashioned blunt instruments that can only be fired once (rocket propulsion etc). Shouldn't he have some type of gnarly energized or ballistic repeater of some kind (similar to his G1 nullray)? I feel like they missed the chance to update him by blending the original Seeker design along with a touch of Bayformer (that all the kids have come to expect) to create a really new and dangerous F-35 look. This figure doesn't look dangerous at all LOL. Theres no room in my collection for this kind of presentation. However I'm not worried about HASBRO stock dropping anytime soon b/c I'm sure plenty of you out there will disagree and buy this.![]()
*And this is off topic, but why do we have yet another re-boot that doesn't seem to be taking advantage of the mulitple Seeker Jet characters? I mean, it would be the same toy mold for HASBRO $$$ and would provide expendable cannon fodder for the show plot. Ughhh

Lord Onixprime wrote:The Vehicons provide enough fodder. As for Starscream's missiles, in the show he is made out to be outdated in many ways when in one episode he looses an arm and Knockout tries to get him to upgrade to new and more advanced weaponry. Starscream refuses. So yes he has outdated, fire once type missiles, but that is true to his character, and in all honesty, a much better re-imagining of Starscream than has ever been in other series.

I'll likely go for Deluxe. That Voyager just doesn't look quite as good as his smaller counterpart.
Hate to say it, bud, but we'll (w/ a 99% probability) never see any newly animated version of Starscream as an F-15 Eagle ever again. Lord OnixPrime's explanation for why he's a F-16 instead of something much newer (like a Raptor or JSF) is dead-on.

Really? I like SQ being a voyager. It kind of adds to the "scare" factor if he towers over the deluxes. It looks like Hasbro is investing quite a bit into this Prime line. I wish the cast was a little bigger. Any pictures shown of Wheeljack?

I want to make sure to clarify that I wasn't suggesting that they should have designed him as an F-15. But I do wish it could have been something closer to a Joint Strike Fighter, but then again one of the themes I've noticed about TF:P is it's lack of specifics when it comes to alt mode brands and logos. Which I'm sure is chalked up to legal reasons. I'm trying to keep this thread related to the toy pictured above but I would like to comment further on some of the good points brought up in conversation. As for the vehicons as cannon fodder, why would you limit the majority of your combat force to just ground based vehicle alt modes. Yes I know the Autobots are always guilty of this too but it seems particularly un-decepticon like to me. My biggest issues with alot of the newer TF stuff is the veering off of the original characterizations and behaviors. I agree that cannon fodder is currently present and I've accepted that this is the format and backstory that the producers have decided to run with (although how many times must we re-create Unicron, if that is indeed him in the recent leaked promos).

Smaller version of Skyquake?
