Wonder where they are building it. Think this is going to be like the last scene or something, kind of like the whole Death Star construction thing with Vader?
I'm hopping that's ether a scene of a refit or a repair because if thats a scene of the ship being built then there changing history again.
Why, did they do that in the Enterprise show? See, I don't consider that Star Trek. So it wouldn't bother me. It looks like it's being built, man.
No it's not a Enterprise show thing but Kirk's Enterprise had 2 captains before him, Apirl and then Pike, and the ship was in service for about 40 years before Kirk took command.

Ditto.
The building in it on the ground better be for the teaser only though. Most/all ST ships are built in orbital drydocks (in space)....
This could be footage shot only for the trailer.

That's what I'm thinking/hoping....
It could also be a scene from the past.Kind of a look back trew history type of thing.

Some are - they have many shipyards I believe. But the Defiant and Enerprise D were built there.

It is not a solid argument since it comes from one of the books and it is about the refit that was done between TOS and TMP, but...
A Flag Full of Stars details some of the refit done to the Enterprise in Earth orbit. The Saucer Section was removed from the ship and landed on earth for the refit. It was then launched back into orbit to be reconnected to the Engineering Section.
Again, it is from one of the books so it is not "canon". But I have always maintained that Star Trek continuity got thrown out the window as soon as the second episode of TOS aired. And they haven't looked back since.

EDIT: There is also this image from the TNG Episode "Parallels" that shows a Galaxy Class Starship being assembled on the surface of Mars (Utopia Planitia).

Is your argument based on the James T Kirk rather then James R kirk issue???

Not really. I know that with anything that is aired on TV of Film they try to make things as consistent as possible, despite Enterprise.
My main beef about Star Trek continuity is the books. Some of the best Trek out there has been in the books. But they don't count... AT ALL!

It is a shame. But there is a reason for the policy.Durring the early years of Star Trek novels and other writtings, between the end of the series and the first movie, a good number of stories were written and published that Geene Rodenberry felt were not in the sperit of his dream.
A good number of them featured stories that revolved around a homo erotic relationship between Kirk,Spock and Bones.
Also many of the novels or comic stories would contradict what we've seen in both episodes and the movies if they were all allowed to be part of the offical canon.
And for those of you that havent seen the new trailer....its at the bottom of the page from yaho movie news

True they have different ship yards but what we saw could have been the Utopia Planitia yards on Mars.I saw no reason to think it's not Mars.
I believe that official documentation for the 1701, including it's dedication plaque, lists its construction site as San Francisco, CA. It's possible that, like the International Space Station, it's parts are built on Earth, than shipped or transported to an orbital "drydock" to be put together.

I always thought the dedication plaque's only listed where the ships were launched into service from. But it looks like I was wrong because I looked up many of the others and the info coorelaties with other info givven as to which ships were built where.
