It sounds as though we may be getting our first sneak peek at Michael Bay's "Transfomrers 4" next week! nelson, the admin for Bay's official Shoot for the Edit forums, commented "Next week Friday" when another forum member asked when we could expect the first trailer. This would most likely be a 30 teaser, but our first look at the new footage none the less.

I am so totally going to laugh my *** off if they give us a "leaked" photo of TF4 Prime sporting a silver DotM style trailer. Would serve everyone right if they did it! C'mon Nelson, I want to see the whole fandom get punk'd!! :lol:

I understand this was just a joke but It's not un-common to have teaser trailers a year in advance of the movies release. However those trailers never show actual footage from the movie. maybe some background voice over from a character and the movie logo. Anyone remember the first teaser trailer for the 2009 Star Trek? They showed the enterprise being built in a dock with voice over with Spock (among a few other inspirational leaders) and nothing more. No movie footage but it was still enough to get people excited.

If we follow past TF movie teaser trailers, we can expect the first teaser in December.

Totally agree with you and I had this not been a joke (I hadn't bought into it anyways) I would have expected something exactly like what they gave us for the '09 Trek film. It was still a cool teaser and I loved how it was handled but Bay is no Abrams so I doubt the TF4 one would have been quite as good had they actually been serious about doing it. Who knows, Nelson may yet be jerking us around and they might actually have something up their sleeve for the 12th but I'm not holding my breath in anticipation.

Now this may be a crass analogy, but whatever teaser we get in December (provided they follow SOP from the previous films) will just be fore-play compared to the big event: The Super Bowl reveal. Now THAT is what I'm going to consider the official trailer release.

Considering Nelson's past, I doubt he's teasing us. More than likely it will be around late this year. As far as the ST trailer IMO that was epic. It took a completely different direction of what were used to seeing with ST (With the metal factory setting and welders) and all of a sudden we see the saucer and nacells of the Enterprise. Kinda made you wonder what the hell you watching until the good'ol enterprise peeks above staring you down. Very well done.

Yes I do. I remember being excited seeing it, but not thrilled like I was when I saw the first teaser to ST. The difference being (for me at least) that in the ST trailer there was something familiar. At the end you knew it was Star Trek. The enterprise, Spock's Voice, the classic Trasporter beam sound... It got me pumped. Not to say that the teaser for the 07' TF movie didn't. It just lacked that familiarity. Of course that was all made up when the first real trailer came out.

Seeing Prime and Bone Crusher colide.. Seriously gave me goose bumps the first few times i saw it. To this day i can't remember looking forward to another movie as much as i did the 07' TF movie.

It would've been hilarious if they did a fake trailer like the Pineapple Express 2 trailer from April Fools day. They coulda used the toys instead of actual movie scenes :lol:
