Addressing the former, since die-casting is too expensive (and as the Titanium line proved, not popular enough to sell anymore) all toys are made out of plastic, obviously innately more brittle. With the rise in popularity of the movies and the demand skyrocketting, QC issues have also become more prevalent. It's entirely possible that you got a bad copy or that the mold is just terrible (I've yet to hear good things about either of those toys), but I also don't know how roughly you handle your toys. I mean heck, there isn't a toy on my shelf I couldn't snap in half if I wanted to, and there were a few on that list...
Heh, anyway, as for the latter, toys nowadays are designed specifically for that to happen. With the older toys, if you pulled on an arm too hard and it snapped off, you were stuck with a broken toy. They make most of the connection points and all of the ball joints easily detachable so instead of having a broken toy, little Johnny Badhands can just pop it back together and get to destroy it all over again. The sad thing is that it makes for weaker joints, but the amount of posability and overall durability they offer make up for it.
On a side note, I do have the HTS Exclusive Megatron, being a grey/black/red G1-esque repaint of that mold, and the gun arm/claw thing falls off all the time. I've just taken to ripping it off, posing him how I want and popping it back on at the end.

So these three dyslexic men walk into a bra... oh HAHAHA I am so funny

In reference to your post, most modern toys are made to break and reattach as Hoitytoity already mentioned. Sometimes, it's just bad luck though, that you get a limb that's ridiculously loose or is missing a peg or piece that fastens two parts together. That said, I think most transformers these days (at least the ones I own) are well built and don't permanently break easy unless you are really rough on them.

I personally like it, I used it to set up battle scenes. Currently I've got Primus posed like he just ripped the "wings" of of Unicron.
My current Primary Want: Universe 2.0/Henkei Rachet

noodles2go wrote:Forgive me for being the grammar police, but the word you mean to say is "break". "Brake" is what you do to slow or stop, "break" is where something comes apart. However, you did use "broke" correctly, as the past tense for "brake" is "braked" while the past tense for "break" is "broke". "Optimus" has a "p" in it and "goodly" is not a word. Just in case you didn't know... if you already did, sorry, but I always appreciate when people correct my bad grammar. I used to say "spatular" instead of "spatula" thanks to my Asian mother.
Actually, 'goodly' is a word but he was using it incorrrectly. 'Goodly' is old fashioned English and you're likely to find it in things like Pride and Prejudice in a phrase like 'a goodly long time'. It has nothing to do with quality!
Back on topic: DARKTHUNDER, you haven't got faulty Transformers. Hasbro considers it better to make limbs come off in such as way as to be easily reattached rather than merely breaking and being useless. The figures you've mentioned are examples of this. Banzaitron/Bludgeon's legs do pop off but they can be pushed right back on. On mine the right leg pops off easily and is a bugger to reattach. The other leg stays on without problem!

Interesting! Now I know! *cue G.I. Joe cliche* "And knowing is half the battle!"
