Sooo instead of assigning some parts of the vehicle mode to the torso area to bulk him up a bit, Hasbro decided to give Soundwave MAJOR back and shoulder kibble?
Seriously, Soundwave has no midsection. He looks like he's missing parts.

I'm sad because this was the only figure I was interested in and was the only one I wanted to buy, guess I get to save that money now. On a positive note, I kind of like how his face was painted.

I like the over-all aesthetics of the robot mode sculpt & car sculpt. .

HOWEVER,The toy is awful & I ain't buying it.

WHY is it awful?
1- the HA soundwave robot mode is short & probably deluxe size like HA Target Leadfoot.
2-It looks like Takara/Hasbro used yet another dull non-shinny grey color for a movie verse toy.
3-the face sculpt visor eyes with the red thing running thru them looks beyond horrible.
4-that laserbeak accessory that transforms into a targetmaster styled weapon looks like garbage & mangled parts.
5-Am I the only one who hates all those round speakers sculpted designs all over these vechicle based soundwave robot toys? animated soundwaves toy had something similar & it also looked like garbage

I do find it funny & hillarious,that HA Dylan gould's human toy is shorter than HA Sam's/shia's human toy. did micheal bay call hasbro & demand shia's toy be taller than dylan's toy?

I agree with a fellow seibertron.com member,that the name "soundwave" on the liscense plate would have been better than the words "superior". my only guesses is the words "superior" was a follow up to the words "Jam" on classics 2.0 Hotshot's liscense plate.

This is really baffling considering HA Jazz is roughly just as small as HA Skids (Or Mudflap if you are lucky) but he is almost as big as Bumblebee. I mean the size was enough to turn me off from DOTM aside from the smaller figures and a few deluxe and Voyagers Class figs and maybe if Hasbro is smart, more Leader Class figures.

In fact this line is designed to clog up the stores, small figures, three Autobot Leader Class figs, the same treatment of Trios (Meaning they release two trios, or in this case release two weaponized versions and the third is always regular vehicles), and now with Soundwave shrinking what should have been a cool figure. I can understand the paint, my HA Jazz is now my Battle Jazz because of scratches, but again if they can pull off HA Jazz being small but just as big as Bumblebee, then how could they not pull that off with Soundwave

These pictures make him look really good, better than I thought... until I saw him standing next to HABB. He's just so small I don't think he'll look right on my shelf. Now I don't know whether or not to buy him. Looking at wheel size it looks as though they've downsized him.

wow im actually realy glad i bought deluxe laserbeak because its 100x better than whatever that piece of **** is no matter what some people think of the deluxe even if the HA is in scale it looks like a fkn fly in red skinny jeans.

UGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!! And i bought into this human alliance line when it first came out thinking it would force the Transformers to be in scale with each other.... how did Hasbro screw this up!!!!! Makes me so mad!!! i should have stayed with the deluxes!! :BOOM:

This is shaping up to be the worst HA figure ever made. he looks horrible...but I will be forced to get him...because I got all the rest of 'em...damn. hopefully I can catch it on clearance in march when the Prime stuff is released to the masses.

I like the vehicle and robot. The fact that Laserbeck turns into a cannon. The paint could be fixed with a "premium" release. But his size?Why is he so small?Why is Dylan Smaller than Sam?Could Sam or the Other human figures fit in? I'm not saying things should 100% accurate and i'm n ot too obsessed with scale, but you'd think he would at least be close to the same height as HA Bumblebee.HA Barricade looked menacing next to the others. HA Leadfoot at least was portraid short and fat so no complaints other than lack of weapons and lack of a HA Topsin, and if a HA Sideways was made like this it would make sense since he's a coward.May wait for a deal.

I can ignore all the flaws until I see the comparison picture with HABB. So this 30 bucks HA class is like a deluxe class height? :sad:

I really want to cry as I want him badly. Now I have to think about.

Too bad they ruined it by leaving it unpainted. Would look pretty badass with HA Sideswipe's paint job.

It's a shame, because the box art looks pretty awesome, but it's just a fail figure. No paint, stupid legs, way too short and top-heavy. Not even Takara could save this, since they seem to be saving money on paint as well.

I thought I'd just quote everything in one go to save some time and answer the same question that is being asked. Here goes...
All of the figures in the DotM line are around 20% smaller than the 2007 or RotF figures due to Hasbro deciding to include the waste of plastic that is their MechTech weapons, saying it was to keep the figures around the same price as all the other shelf warmers.
Dylan's figure is smaller than Sam's because the Sam figure is from HABB. This was prior to the DotM line, there was no meeting forcing Hasbro to make Dylan smaller, like I said all of this line is around 20% smaller than your average figure prior to this line.
This one may still be in scale with the other HA figures from the DotM line only, but I don't know at all since I do not collect these figures. $30 is far too much for a toy to me.
As for how tall Soundwave is now, if I were to guess that the HA line was around Voyager class prior to this, then I would venture as far as to say this is slightly over deluxe size when compared to a figure that came out before DotM.
There was never any plan to make all of these figures in scale with each other, at least, from my memory there isn't. By the way, when in any series has there been a consistent size? Its like the mass shifting, its a part of the series no matter which one you like.

The top part of his body isn't that bad - like everyone says, the legs doom this figure. Laserbeak also has that problem, as his legs make him look like a Happy Meal toy.
