Transformers Fabric Found at Wal Mart

If you're not wearing some form of Transformers apparel while playing with your Transformers, you might be doing something wrong. But don't fear, there's help! Located by fellow Seibertronian the Elite Elitabeth-1 at her local Wal-Mart is yardage of Transformers fabric featuring Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, and Starscream.

From Elitabeth-1: "I was out one day and chanced upon an item that might be worth reporting. I don't think anyone else has reported this yet, but while searching for sewing items at Walmart, I found 1yd. pre-cut Transformers fabric that was pretty cool. It sports the Generation 1 theme and it looked pretty awesome with pictures of the popular characters (Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, etc.). I did not get the chance to pick any up and hopefully will soon. I have pictures if you would like them. I don't know if anyone will care per se, but I thought it might be a fun thing to throw into the daily news."

Click on any of the images to order from Wal-Mart on line or head to your local store to pick up everything you need to get your proper Transformer threads on. As always let us know your thoughts in the forums and stay tuned to Seibertron for the latest and greatest in Transformer news!

Neither, go with a kilt.

I get it's supposed to be marvel colors, but Megatron could pass for his Shattered Glass self

Just picked up a couple of yards. The question is now, whether to make a baby blanket for the SIL, or find a fun project for myself... :-?
You know, as a kid I never made the connection between the G1 Sideswipe toy my brother passed down to me and the characters in the Beast Wars show on TV, until Michael Bay had Sideswipe as a Corvette.

Well, this seems kind of useless. Someone else asked jammies or curtains? Good luck making either decently if they're only selling it in one yard pre-cut pieces.

As a layman this seemed silly to me. I asked my wife who is a serious fiber & fabric artist, and while she thought the pattern was awesome, her reply to "one yard pre-cut" was that it is the dumbest thing ever and severely limits the projects one can do with this fabric. You can only either make smaller items, or obviously pieced together items with unnecessary extra seems.

Wish they instead had this at like Michael's or Jo Anne's in huge rolls you can get custom sized bolts cut from. Then you could do some awesome things with it! Heck, the wife thinks it would be an awesome dress, and is kind of pissed that's not a realistic option.

The question is, who here knows someone who can make bedding out of it.

The question is what kind of bedding do you want?

Pillowcases: Buy two yards, put the side you want on display facing outwards in the middle of the two pcs, and stitch one short side and both long sides together. I would recommend doing a fold over at the three edges you need to stitch just to give the stitches some extra fabric to hold, and it encourages straight line stitches. Although if you want a nicer pillowcase you'd fold a chunk of the end for the pillow to go into and stitch that first before assembling the entire piece burrito. :-D

Baby/small dog blanket: Buy a yard of this, and either a second yard and prepare for a lot of decorative stitching to hold the fluff in or find a soft fleece and buy a little over a yard. Start like the pillowcases, and definitely do the fold overs on the edges as blankets get some rough treatment. Once you have the three sides stitched go ahead and turn it right side out and stuff the open end. If you did two pcs of the transformers fabric, you won't get as much insulation/fluff inside and it will need to be smoothed out once you fill it. Now the fleece will be really mobile in this blanket sack so you'll need to give it some basic stitching to help hold it in place, or when the kid or whatever eventually opens up a corner you don't want them able to pull ALL of the stuffing out. You can do a decorative pattern if you want and have the time otherwise just a basic system of lines, diamonds, or squares will do. Fold the open end like the rest of the ends, but stitch it from the outside through, and call it done. :-D If you did an oversized fleece then fill that sucker up. Give it some stitches dividing it into thirds or quarters to hold the stuffing, and stitch up the end like I mentioned in the fabric blanket and it is done. :-D

If you want traditional sheets or bed skirts, I wouldn't recommend this fabric for it as there would then be seams everywhere. Occasionally, you can find at Jo Ann's or Michael's a regular yard roll of fabric that has, usually only Bumblebee, Transformers on it and that is what I'd recommend for sheets if you can find it and afford it.
