Magnus is looking fantastic. I'm probably going to go for Hasbro's version though for Minimus Ambus and Hope Reprolabels release something to spruce him up a bit It's funny I'm going for the version with Ambus and I'm not even up to date with the Comics so I'm not even sure who he is besides he 's the guy inside Magnus.

Where in the nine hells do you take your prices from? BBTS? If that's the case, it dosent count because BBTS must recoup an extra shipping cost from Asia because the Takara one don't come from the Hasbro warehouse. (Don't argue that point, please)
Based on BBTS, UM cost 47$US+10$US shipping. So, 57$ total. I dunno about taxes, but you may have to pay some, being online or retail.
From Amiami, never mind the suggested retail price, it cost 5650JPY, meaning 47.37US. At worst, add 15 or 20$ of shipping.
So. basic price:
Hasbro: 47$.
Takara: 47$.
EXACT SAME FAWKING PRICE.

SO! which 3rd party is going to make a a replacement cab for good old UM here that can still transform in to UM but is slightly bigger, can detach and transform into a white Optimus while still being able to house minimums in all 3 modes?

Why does everyone hate on the leader Thundercracker and Starscream just because they share a mold with Jetfire? Jetfire was one of the greatest Transformers I've ever had.

Re: Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Leader Class Figures Thread
Read that quick write up toy review of CW Ultra Magnus. That is posted on the front new page here.
Was a little disappointed to read that the fist don't rotate. Think it's odd since the fingers have some articulation.
Wondering is HasTak is trying to design their newer TF toys to make it harder for Third parties to create replacements parts for. Had CW Jetfire and CW Ultra Magnus had rotate fist. It would have been easier to replace them with hands with articulated fingers.
Days ago, Saw the hollow back of CW Ultra Magnus. Was sad to see that.
Think Takara's version looks nicer with the better darker colors and more paint applications.
With all the problems this toy has, Don't think it's woth my money buying the Takara version. Only have enough love for the toy to buy the Hasbro American version.
Can accept that not everything needs to be perfect.
Already got the Two perfect G1 Ultra Magnus toys. MP-22 and that KFC Citizen Stacks toys.
Still find it funny that CW Ultra Magnus has more range of movement in the walking hips than MP-22 does.

THAT... seems like a pretty tall order. I love my Jetfire, but the hollowness of the underwings is pretty obvious for the seeker versions. It's a bit unsightly. Still, this will not stop this here Starscream fanboy to buy Screamer-sama once he's out. I wonder if some sort of 3rd party upgrade could fill out the underwings? Like tiny panels that would just snap in every slots? Then, some labels on top to cover the lines.

The thing I'm honestly most concerned about w/ U Magnus at this point is the blasters not fitting in the hands well, hopefully that's not widespread. Also, Burn, thanks for being the peacemaker of the thread.

I am incredibly tempted to off-load my Jetfire (and stick with the Classics version) because I like the mold for the seekers so much more.
I'm also one of those simple people who doesn't really care about hollowness, but I doubt it would be hard to develop a 3P upgrade. Best part is, they'll have at least four different colours they can sell it in!

Months ago a newer Third party called, Ultimate fans toys. https://www.facebook.com/UltimateFansToys Listed a kit to make the CW Jetfire toy better. The kit had replacement forearms with rotate hands and articulated fingers. Some gap fillers to fill in the hollow areas on the toys. Some extra weapons.
Think the company making the kit. can recolor the parts and also release them for the seekers.

have you seen some of the craziness that come out of the 3rd parties? how much they can make work with so little space. the cab as it is, is probably one of the most hollow pieces on this figure, give it a little bit more mass to work with and then use all of it. I don't think it would be much of a problem. The white Optimus bot wouldn't need to be this super articulate complicated thing with wrist swivels and ankle tilts, combiner wars deluxe engineering at the most with a cavity large enough to house Minimus, I wouldn't even care if Minimus needed to be in vehicle mode to be able to fit, just so long as he was inside it. In fact that's not a bad base line, a transformable cab with engineering/complexity similar to that of a current deluxe, but instead of a combiner port in the chest that space could be reserved for Minimus. Seeing how at the most for Ultra Magnus mode the cab just kind of does nothing aside from fold in half at the truck hitch. Said 3rd mode would hardly make any kind dent in complexity.
EDIT: the more i think about it, it could actually transform alot like energon Optimus Prime. the arms would need to do something new so it could attach to the trailer but it could absolutely work.

I'm in this boat too. The way I see it, this CHUG Magnus is as close as I'll get to the one I grew up with. Some day I hope to catch up with the comics, and when I do I'll be glad to have the Minimus Ambus gimmick as part of the figure.

For such a figure that people have wanted for many years, you'd think Hasbro would go all out engineering him. Guess not. He sure doesn't have the articulation where it counts. Also not being able to hold his weapons is really lousy. I never liked the cab sculpt (too small and oddly shaped) from day one, but the botmode looked so great it grew on me. Now i am back to hating him again. Maybe the spark will re-ignite when i see a video review of him.

I still really like the guy. He looks great and I will be using Minimus, no doubt. His hollowness does not bother me in the slightest, in fact I don't really notice it. As for the problems of security, I've found that by the time I get him at regular retail, those problems that were spoke of are gone. So yes, BRING HIM ON!
