The colours make a big difference but there isnt that much new in terms of paint apps, just some yellow here and there.

The big difference for me is that I know alpha trion more than minimus ambus. But alpha trion riding magnus isnt anywhere in the fiction, so I am having a hard time coming up with what I want out of this toy.

More blue on the trailer works like a charm and the red looks verrrrrry nice. I'm holding off untill I see some in-hand pics of Takara Magnus. I want to know if he looks just as nice as the official pictures. And since I don't read the IDW comics, Minimus Ambus doesn't mean a single thing to me. There's at least a GEEWUN connection in Takara's version and that (drumroll) I can deal with.

Vehicle mode on the Takara version looks better, but I've always preferred white thighs if you know what I mean. :lol:

Well first it's because that's how Magnus's alt mode looks in the comics, but also it's designed to be gigantic. The windshield slits are meant to be as big as normal windshields, if that puts the rest of the truck in perspective. Note the tiny doors.

Personally I am stoked for this guy. He looks fantastic, and I admire that they put all that detail inside the cab, based on the artwork. I bet it'll look better if someone paints it.

But doesn't that mean he's out of scale with the other toys? The cars he's carrying would have to be tiny in comparison.

Alt mode looks small, but he's definitely growing on me. Still think I might go for the Takara flavor though.

I would think that Legends class would scale very well with the car carrier, but the bot appears to be pretty spot on with Deluxe and Voyager class.

Say for instance the cars being the scale of Minimus Ambus' alt mode?

Minimus would slide right out of that trailer. Magnus needs some cages back there. One sharp turn, and all the Autobot cars go flying.

I meant the Ambus/Trion thing. But my 1986 toy also looks more like what Takara is putting out. Red upper legs, darker blue and, as always, painted details.

Takara beats Hasbro in Alt mode color for sure. The trailer looks far more uniform and it plays with the illusion of the parts making up another form. But dammit, I dont like his red thighs. Hasbro looks more like a smaller version of the MP (which I realize now, also has a ton of paint apps missing):

You're right about the MP lacking in bling, but he makes up for it in so many ways.
I just can't decide what to do about the "Generations Magnus Dilemma". Do I go down and dirty for the quick high of Hasbro's, or do I wait and bide my time for Takara's?

Dude. Reprolabels fix this sheyt.

Also, Takara Leader UM have more than extra yellow paint aps. It have lots of silver bits that Hasbro don't have. Most notably, the tire rims, and also inside the feet joints. Takara is so full of colors, it make the Repros irrelevants for Legend UM.

I think iI actually like the look of the leader class better. I'm sure my wallet appreciats that as well ..

But...

MPs are just so damn satisfying to transform...

Argh, I'm going get in so much trouble with the Mrs. :-x

Earlier today, got my Combiners wars G1 Megatron toy delivered to me from Walmart.com. Think it's a nice looking toy. Can't wait to get the DX9 add ons and apply them to this toy.

X2 is stupid. What's the point of hiding the whole figure?
DX9, on the other end, I may buy. But I'll need more info, especially for the tank mode.

Also, what's up with 3rd party companies and all those X everywhere?
