So, if there's a better and official Alpha Trion toy on the market, what need is there for this teeny tiny pipsqueak Alpha Trion that doesn't fit into any existing collection beyond the Smallest Transformers?

What, it transforms? Alpha Trion never transformed in the cartoon. He predates transformation.

He can interact with all the micromasters and minicons. This below is the only G1 toy I ever had as a kid and he now has a friend.

Truth is, I like Alpha Trion so getting anything official is a fun bonus. But the real big difference is the blue trailer. It sells the illusion better instead of making it look half assed. I wish he had white legs instead of red though even though it still works:

It actually makes the aesthetic of the design consistent with the color scheme and yet I don't feel constrained to also accept the fiction it's representing. And in this case it clearly does not represent the fiction which I feel no attachment to. Sounds like the best of both worlds to me.

In the end, I get a kickass transforming robot with great paint apps, a color that matches the source's aesthetic, for Hasbro prices and Alpha freaken Trion as a bonus.

What I need is that super sweet version of Ultra Magnus. The mini fig is just a technicality.

WJ nailed it. It's a fun little bonus. I'm buying TT's UM and could do without the little guy, but I ain't exactly gonna throw him away y'know?

Alpha Trion is not the selling point of the figure, and everybody knows Transformers scale is so ridiculous that it's not even worth getting worked up over. Takara purchasers get a sweet Ultra Magnus toy and a small bonus Alpha Trion to go with it, not the other way around.

Anyone got an official height on this one? Or a picture with mixed with a few masterpieces like Prowl or Prime?

Never been a huge Magnus fan (though I LOVE that IDW spotlight issue making him basically a bounty hunter/Marshall...)

I hate the idea of Masterpiece prices... and I like the sculpt (and price) on this guy. My collection is a mix of classics and MP... but if he just looks ridiculous I'll probably have to wait...

Though I do like the mini guy wearing the suit...

Sabre, there's still always BotCon 2007 Alpha Trion, if you want an official toy for your collection. Or perhaps Million Publishing will make their next exclusive that retool/repaint of Generations Scourge as A3. It DID get second place to Goshooter in their poll last year, after all.

I'm just going to pretend that Takara's Ultra Magnus comes with the "Alpha Trion Cosplay" version of Minimus Ambus. He wants to be able to mingle with the organics at the next BotCon AND have the best costume at the show!

I recently got ROTF Scout Depthcharge. A nice figure with a neat transformation, despite his ridiculous "boots".

I like his altmode, but he can't be displayed with any TF of my collection scalewise:

He's a freaking WARSHIP! In scale with a deluxe car, the thing would even dwarf the infamous GI Joe Aircraft Carrier!
So, on a scale of 1 to 10, how upset should I be?

Honestly, I don't give a flying feather about TF scale overall. I only care about scale for my epic and messy Cyberverse Battle display.

My posts were in response to those on the previous page that made Alpha Trion, rather than Magnus's sweet deco, out to the be the incentive of getting the Takara set over the Hasbro set. They weren't aimed at those who want Magnus for Magnus, rather, at those who were sounding like they wanted Magnus for A3.

I do still preffer alpha trion as a bonus rather than minimus ambus. Even if it might not make any sense. And he totally caught my eye towards Takara's UM, which then made me see how UM's deco looked like.
