1. The purple comes from the Marvel comics. It may have looked maroon on some copies depending on print quality (especially in US prints because the US comics were relegated to the low-end printing equipment) or age of the paper, but purple is the correct color.
2. What makes the desaturated presentation from the IDW comics not look Decepticon to you?

This is correct, the same source described the Rainmakers three pack as the following.

Ion storm has lighter and more saturated blue than Thundercracker.
Unlike the animation model , all 3 have white paint at the front waist piece
Has Gunmetal chest thruster and black thruster feet as usual
Not as much diverse paint as redwing but all the mold detail still pops

I just want a Commander-class Tidal Wave in animation accurate colors, is that too much to ask for?

Leader class armored car? Could be another Sentinel Prime maybe? Otherwise I’ve no idea.

This is all great news! Because as everyone knows - if there's anything Transformers needs, it's more repaints!

The Galactic Man news took me on a mini emotional roller-coaster. I was massively excited about it until I realized it's not MP scale.

The Siege voyager+kibble=leader scale one is fine, it's just not the one I've wanted since MP Shockwave came out. Also, I doubt I'm going to be willing to shell out the premium version of leader class price for what I regard as a voyager class toy.

It's a repaint line, what do you expect? Its no different than the TFCC, aside from this being cheaper and more accessible.

An armored car Leader-class... Roadblock? Another try at Quickswitch (although technically his ground mode is a drill tank)?

A Commander Class complementary to Omega Supreme.... Smaller version in Guardian Robot colors? New Devy? Sky Lynx? Or maybe someone misinterpreting a description that could apply to Jetfire as being a new figure?

We know that. This is just a list that includes him as well and further gives credence to the fact that we are getting him. As opposed to it just being art of a design we would never get (like the monstructor and dinoking).

As for the leader figure my mind immediately went to Cybertron Defense Red Alert, to go with the rumored Hot Shot.

Hmm, maybe we're all approaching this from the wrong angle. Instead of thinking about Omega from the fictional standpoint, maybe it's to do with him as a toy.

He's a rocket base, so maybe it's a Commander class figure with a spaceship altmode that can connect to Omega's base mode launchpad, like a new Sky Lynx or Galaxy Shuttle.

Considering Omega comes with Countdown, you could also consider that a fiction based connection, albeit it's a bit of a stretch. Hey, I'd get it if they did it.

What do people think of the possibilities I suggested for the alleged new Commander?

EDIT: The wishful thinking in my head pointed out that that vague description could be construed to apply to Overlord, if one can consider a Decepticon with some similar functionality to be a complementary figure.
