Unfortunately Hasbro, to the best of my knowledge, have little control about which Masterpieces will be made. It's mostly a Takara initiative.

We can at least try petitioning Hasbro. So you're saying that all Transformers Masterpiece figures made by Hasbro only exsist because Takara Tomy made them first?

Well then I'll make the petition to Takara instead.

We're not meaning to be cynical botdude, but in instances like this petitioning has no effect. It costs more than you imagine to produce any figure, let alone a Masterpiece. They have to pay the designers for the figure and the packaging, pay licensing costs etc. (probably the biggest reason there's no Masterpiece Jazz is that Porsche are not on friendly terms with the franchise), go through the development process, test audiences, produce it, market it and much, much more.
It may seem like a simple idea to write to Takara and say "Masterpiece Soundwave, amiright?" but there are far more considerations that a company like HasTak has to take into consideration.
That's not to say that fans have no impact. A lot of figures in the Classics/Universe/Generation line seem to have been inspired by fan demand and events like the hall of fame helped.
EDIT: That said, petitioning a company like FansProject who are more oriented toward adult fan appeal than mass-market appeal would probably be more productive.

Could Fansproject make Transformers Masterpiece figures of other Generation 1 characters?

As for Hasbro's version of Rodimus: Yes, he is coming. No, he will not have his trailer. Yes, he will have his other accessories and a new one made to help make up for the lack of a trailer. (It's speculated that the new accessory will be Firebolt, The Targetmaster.)
Now, to be fair...I'd love to see something akin to a petition that tells Hasbro that we do want the trailer, and we'd be willing to buy it as an accessory if no other option presents itself, and that we'd be willing to order it from HTS or TFCC, something like that.
Put the figure out at retail, find out how many people want the trailer, make them pay up front, and buy the necessary level of stock from Takara, to make it happen, and that way everyone's happy.
The people who don't want the trailer will get their Masterpiece Hot Rod. Those of us who want the whole shootin' match will get their trailer, if Hasbro would be willing to entertain such an idea.
And, if we pay up front, I don't see how Hasbro's going to lose any money in the deal, really.
Will it happen? No. But it is nice to dream.
Oh, and the release dates? January 31st for TakaraTomy's. No official release date for Hasbro's, but if you follow their track record, I'd say we should expect to see him in the late Summer/early Fall period, supposedly in 2011. They could release him in early Summer with Dark Of The Moon's toyline to help push it. Bottom line, we just don't know when for sure, but he is coming.

I think you're probably right. You know what I see in store for the domestic release with those extra accessories? A lot of repackaged MP Rodimus' minus their extra accessories. People will buy them, take out the extra goodies, return them, and the store employees won't be the wiser.

I mostly want Tracks. I also would like a combiners set, like the Protectabots/Defensor or Technobots/Computron.
