While we have had one or two before, there hasn't been a Transformers themed monopoly game available at retail for a while now. Hasbro is of course rectifying that. Fellow Seibertronian JTPrime17 has found a listing with image for a new Monopoly: Transformers Edition on the mobile Walmart site. We learn that the is UPC: 630509993444 and that it will feature the evergreen designs, which makes sense given the name of these designs. You can see the small image below. No idea on price or release date. If you ever see it in stores, let us know!

The G1 one I have, had some really unrelated cards/imagery and didn't put much effort into the community chest/chance cards:

examples:

image: autobot symbol: recieve $25 christmas gift to put in your piggy bank

image: Frenzy: you have won second prize in a car race

mixed bag cards:
image: monopoly go to jail (no energon cell or movie prison): you break your brst friends optimus/megatron toy go directly to jail (surely that's an intstantly fed to the sharkticons and not go to jail?)

some good cards:

image: starscream: you assume control of your forces by destroying your injured leader collect $10 from every player

Safe to bet I won't be needing another transformers version of monopoly though.

I have the IDW version and we're actually in the middle of a game right now. We especially like the different doubles rules; double sixes lets you fight someone for a property and double threes lets you destroy someone's house.

Greetings Seibertronians! In news from the more general licensing side of the Transformers franchise, the new Transformers Monopoly game (reported here), has had it's Walmart.com listing updated with new stock images, showing off what you get in this version of the beloved game.













As said before, the game's artwork features more the evergreen style.

In this exciting twist on the Monopoly game, players enter the world of Transformers and imagine traveling between Earth and Cybertron as a heroic Autobot or evil Decepticon. Choose to play as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Grimlock, Megatron, Starscream, or Soundwave in a race to take control of energy-rich locations. Buy, sell, or swap properties, build up a supply of Energon cubes, and construct Energon bunkers.

This is what, the 4rth transformers monopoly set? There the officially licenced usaopoly set from 2007, the super mega deluxe version that was a couple hundred dollars, and then there's the retro g1 toy version. Well, 5 if you count monopoly empire which came with Optimus prime a head.

I have gotten none of these. But I have kinda wanted all of them so maybe this will be the one that finally breaks me.

I'm glad I have the first version which came out in 2007. I also recently got the Godzilla Monopoly. While it retains the original 40 sided board (as opposed to the newer modified 32 sided one... ). It does have newer changes I'm not fond of like making the properties directly after GO Brown, and the title deeds themselves rectangular instead of square (not earth shaking, but still...why mess with the classics?)

I feel complete however. I have a Decent Original Monopoly. I have the 1st Star Wars Monopoly (1997), 1st Transformers Monopoly (2007), and now Godzilla Monopoly (2020). I think I have all my major hobbies covered, unless they come out with a Super Robot Anime Monopoly, which I highly doubt.

All the variants for whatever interest you have are nice, but when they start changing the board itself, the speed die (I hate that stupid thing), and some of the other more traditional facets of the game, it just becomes far less special IMHO.

If it's the one that came out on 2007, or 2009, those are DW designs, not IDW, which I very much appreciate.

Okay, so when did Monopoly get hit by Hasbro's parts count limits? The board is missing 2 spaces on each side from the standard board. Looks like 6 properties were cut along with some of the random tax spaces, but Metroplex and Trypticon appear to be sort of like properties now.

I was kind of excited about this, until you mentioned the missing spaces. I wonder if it was just them being too lazy to come up with them.

There's been a few newer versions of Monopoly which have shortened the board, including a standard version. Not sure why it's being changed, but yeah, it's not as fun. I'm glad all my versions are the full board

No they were Dark Purple for the longest time. The Godzilla 2020 version is the first time I've ever seen them Brown, (I see it on other more recent additions as well), not sure when the change happened

Hasbro commissioned a major graphic redesign to the U.S. Standard Edition of the game in 2008 along with some minor revisions. Among the changes: the colors of Mediterranean and Baltic Avenues changed from purple to brown, and the colors of the GO square changed from red to black. A flat $200 Income Tax was imposed (formerly the player's choice of $200 or 10% of their total holdings, which they could not calculate until after making their final decision). Originally the amount was $300 but was changed a year after the game's debut,[33] and the Luxury Tax amount increased to $100 from $75. There were also changes to the Chance and Community Chest cards; for example, the "poor tax", "receive for services", "Xmas fund matures", and "grand opera opening" cards became "speeding fine", "receive $25 consultancy fee", "holiday fund matures", and "it is your birthday", respectively; though their effects remained the same; the player must pay only $50 instead of $150 for the school tax. In addition, a player now gets $50 instead of $45 for sale of stock, and the Advance to Illinois Avenue card now has the added text indicating a player collects $200 if they pass Go on the way there.[34]

What's cool is sometimes we use Micromasters, Titan Masters, or other small PVC toys. Last time my son was TR Overboard, my daughter was TR Leinad, and I was a small PVC Omega Supreme figure

Maybe because the original board is rigged. It remains a game of chance but there is 1 strategy using that board which will make someone win everytime.

Maybe the new board makes things more fair for a diverse game.

The Board not so much, I'd say the Speed die is the the thing which has changed the game the most, which I am not a fan of. Besides, I just recently watched a documentary on Amazon about Monopoly. Sure there are strategies, but as you said it is still a game of chance. There's serious tournaments, and while some of the same people get far, there's always new people in the finals and championships.

As a person who has won very few if any games in my life, the negotiating skills of others working against one can often negate sure-win strategies.

See, up to this point, I didn't realise there were different versions. Yeah, years ago they released an "Australian" version of Monopoly, made a big song and dance about it because it featured Australian icons, otherwise we've always had the UK version.

I think the one I have is over 20 years old now (and no missing pieces as far as I know) plus the original Star Wars one, so I wouldn't mind picking this one up. Not that I have more than one other person to play it with though.

My son takes Grimlock every time and I always take Shockwave (because it's only logical that he should win). But somehow Grimlock fumbles his way to victory nearly every time!

On the one hand, I like the use of the original artwork. The pewter mini-figures look nice (although I haven't found a bigger picture to get a better look yet). But everything else about it, I don't like.
