It feels like more set up. There is an action scene and kind of the conversation we have wanted with Prime and Ironhide, but then there is also a scene involving Sunstreaker which didn't make much sense to me after certain panels in issue 21.

I could just be tired of feeling like nothing big has happened yet after HoD and all the issues of ongoing I have read leading into chaos.

Or I could just be missing the dense, multifaceted world I felt like I was visiting in issues 22 and 23.

Finally, that thing at the end with Kimia was...ugh...

There were other ways that base could have been used to blow a hole to cybertron's core in issue 26 than that.

And as for Galvatron, all hope that he won't be portrayed as nuts and will come full circle to the character Simon wrote is gone now. And it looks like all the "chaos" really is going to occur just because Galvatron won't elaborate with the autobots on the situation with Dvoid. The part when he acts as if the autobots can't be allowed to leave alive when they just want to walk away is SOOOOOOOOoo far off from the way this guy was written in HoD that it will probably raise more than a few BS flags.

And where exactly is that massive, era spanning race of an army he raised in HoD? How much room is left in the next 3 issues for all of this stuff to go down?

At least it won't be crammed into 4 spotlights like Simon's final arch was.

this did kinda upset me a bit. issues #21,#22 & #23 wasted too much time in the past 4+millions years ago. then theirs gonna be 3 issues dedicated to the last story on earth where prowl finds out info about spikes wrong doings.

what upsets me,is where does all this leave story for galvatron & the D-Void story. will the D-void story just be swept under the carpet or played down to not be as major of a story as originally planned.

I'm sorry thus far this CHOAS stories seem to be focusing too much of optimus prime's & megatrons origin stories & weird hate/love relationship.

I honestly wanted a competent galvatron that we saw in HOD as the main star figthing the D-Void.

I really wanted to see the D-Void origins extremly fleshed out. like where the D-Void came from. how were the D-Void was created. what's the relationship between the D-Void & the transformers race. does the D-Void tie into origins with unicron or the sawrm or the Zombie infestation things?

I kinda wanted to see another G-2 similar story. where all the transformers fought on one side against a extremly evil race. looks like this won't happen in the 2011 Chaos story line.

I think it's a bad move wasting 3 more issues on earth. does anyone really care about prowl's detective skills & finding out how spike killed that constructicon?

I also think it's a bad move not involving the Core decepticons in the cybertron D-VOID story line. leaving the core decepticons out of this cybetron/D-Void story just seems lame-o. we've now got all these super powerful core decepticons chilling out on the earth or scattered across the universe that aren't gonna be involved in thev Cybertron/D-Void story events.

HOPEFULLY I'M WRONG IN ALL MY GUESSING ABOVE.

I totally agree about the decepticons. I am elated that Megatron will actually play a big role but it just feels like a slight that every time a new threat emerges the rest of the Decepticon armies get sidelined. I'm sure we would all like to see Shockwave struggle to understand the logic behind Galvatron deciding to murder the Autobots rather than converse with some civility and properly inform them of the problem and give them the opportunity to join him reasonably, like he did the entire lost legion of tfs from HoD.

The character, as he was written in HoD, would not have just started a battle with the aotobots if he truly believed a threat to their entire species was just around the corner. In HoD, you actually got the idea he had regret that so many had died needlessly from the war.

that HOD GALVATRON was very competent & seemed to have a very 3-D fleshed out unique persona.

I honestly hate it,when new writters re-write stuff. having the 3-D Persona competent Galvatron get reduced to a 1-d generic villan CRAZY bot in Choas is just upsetting & awful.

Yeah I know. The sad thing is that I was really excited about this. It was hyped as the end of years of stories. And honestly I still really want to read up to 125, but it just seems like the disjointed and inconsistent elements of the entire concept of Idw Galvatron, along with the HoD, Dvoid, etc is going to be impossible not to notice.

The most obvious evidence is that issue 20 had to be changed to fit HoD #4. Mike was taking G in the psychotic direction already by then but DnA were given the freedom to write him their own way.

The one thing they really got my interest with was the ancient race, but you can tell from issues 3 and 4 of HoD that someone made the decision to not let that cat out of the bag yet. And after waiting this long for the post AHM payoff, it kind of stinks that a lot of what got my attention for all of this is going to be given the "set up for next year treatment".

I actually love Livio Ramondelli's work in this issue. It reminds me a lot of Ben Templesmith. There's a pretty awesome double page spread in this issue.

No, Megatron will probably 'turn the tide' as a last resort in the climax.

I said Xaaron in my post, and it was Chief Justice Tyrest. Ooopsies.

Deathy, there is a spoiler tag you can use instead of having to leave spoiler space.

I will agree to disagree with you Supreme C. The inconsistant artwork in this series has been part of the problem, in my eyes, anyway. I don't mind a new take here or there, I just want things to make sense when they are drawn. For example, Cliffjumper seems to be the only bot that Livio has decided to keep his Don Fig look, and it looks very out of place.

I found the artwork to be terrible, and it really distracted me from the storyline.

With a pair of great comics preceding Transformers: Ongoing #24, it's fair to say that this issue had it's fair share of expectations. Not only that, but the comic was the start of IDW's well-advertised arc, Chaos. The previous issues featured flashbacks and art by Alex Milne. Ongoing #24 deviates from that state, with the artwork being the biggest change many will notice. Livio Ramondelli takes the helm for Ongoing #24, as well as three future issues, #26, #28 and #30. While this review is meant to focus on #24, I feel that it's a good time to look at Ramondelli's art. Many have been rather critical on the change of artwork, as this is a drastic change from what we've seen in the previous 23 issues. However, I feel that the naysayers are a bit overcritical. Ramondelli's covers for Best Of Megatron and Best of Optimus Prime are top class. This is his first Transformers issue. There's also the concept that we're finally back at Cybertron. What better way to set a tone than to use Ramondelli's art, which I think conveys the oppressed feelings and melancholy the Autobots would have if Galvatron were in control of their home planet.

Image

Chaos. We're in it. How did we get here? The matrix was given back to Optimus Prime on Prime, who immediately set course for Cybertron. He explained to his troops that Galvatron was still alive and has been amassing an army on Cybertron. Cut to #24. Galvatron and his brethren show up on one of the Autobot's most important facilities, Kimia. By the time the Autobots show up, it's no longer under their control.... the consequences of the capture will be known once you read the issue.

Image

They're scared. Who you might ask? The Autobots. It's been a very long time since the Autobots have been outnumbered. In fact, in the entire Ongoing session, there really hasn't been a massive army versus a massive army. That's seemingly going to change.

Image

What's rather odd about the Autobots first arrival on their birthplace is the selection of Transformers accompanying Optimus Prime. Or to me, maybe it's just one. Yes, Ironhide and Sideswipe were the last Autobots to be on Cybertron. But Drift? I know he's the IDW posterboy, and perhaps it's so that we won't forget that Drift exists, but I think there were much better candidates on the Autobot ship.

Image

It's hard to be highly critical of Transformers #24. Yes, Chaos does look promising, but this issue isn't much of a standalone piece, but more of a setup for hopefully greater things to come.
