Decepticons
Megatronus: Bugly
Liege Maximo: Skullgrin
Onyx Prime: Iguanus
Quintus Prime: Sub-Marauder
Alchemist Prime: Bomb-Burst
Amalgamous Prime: Finback

Autobots
Prima: Landmine
Alpha Trion: Cloudburst
Solus Prime: Sky High
Vector Prime: Waverider
Nexus Prime: Splashdown
Micronus: Groundbreaker

These are my predictions. Though it's worth noting that of those aligned with factions; I'm only confident in Megatronus, Liege Maximo (duh), Onyx Prime and Quintus Prime being Decepticons (due to either fitting a beastial shell more or their general in-fiction alignment); and Prima, Alpha Trion, Solus Prime and Vector Prime being Autobots. The other four were hard to decide and I ended up just chucking Micronus and Nexus into the Autobots due to their sparse fictional appearances. Plus Micronus has been on RiD 2015, and I don't think they'd want to confuse the kiddies by having Optimus' spiritual guide be a Decepticon.

I'm also only confident in directly linking Megatronus, Liege Maximo (again, duh), Onyx Prime and Quintus Prime to those specific shells; the rest were chosen randomly. Megatronus is Bugly because War Within, Quintus Prime is Sub-Marauder because tentacles = sea creature, and Onyx Prime is Iguanus because of the beasts left, that one seemed the most beastly. These could all be completely wrong and it's entirely possible Hasbro is just selecting them at random too, but it's fun to speculate :)

Given what a mess Starscream looks to be I think I'm going to go ahead, buy the necessary Shapeways parts and do that custom of CW Skydive into Starscream I'd been planning.

THAT SAID, if they did a retool of POTP Starscream into Skyquake I'd buy that.

Masterforce went in a much different direction to previous Transformers series, so to that end Takara gave the Pretenders different names and personalities to their American counterparts. There's no molding or even deco differences; just names and personalities.

Its all fan speculation. I still think it will be scorponok since they arent abandoning the titanmaster port in this line.

To Address the Unicron issue - I'm OK with him being a tail dragger on the end of an 18 month line with Scorponok out in middle 2018 and Unicron out in early 2019.

But I don't want Unicron instead of Scorponok - it makes sense to do Unicron in 2019 to tie into the 6th Live Action Movie too.

Also Unicron is only tangentally related to Prime Wars where as Scorponok is an intrinsic part of the established theme.

Omega Supreme can be release in 2020 as he doesn't need to be "Master" Compatible he can be a normal Titan like Metroplex was.

Though if they have any sense they will bring back Micromasters and tie some of the bases to that - which then begs the question if Countdown might be a better choice - but there is a space for Omega somewhere - he's just not a real priority - Heck he might even make more sense as a $200 Masterpiece toy

It's a shame they wasted a slot on an un-needed out of scale Devastator - which might have been a reasonable toy if it had been a lot smaller. all it did was make me fearful that if they did the Predacons as a Titan class they'd be - junk basically.

But yeah Unicron isn't needed in 2018 unless they plan to make Prime Wars 3.0 a short line and not a 6 wave line.

They have some cartoon on the boil (supposedly) so that may mean a return to a main line kids line that replaces both RID & Prime Wars - with some flanking support from Movie toys through to 2020.

Here is a irksome thought for you folks.

What is they make Scorponok and he comes with either a Full Tilt Titanmaster or a The Fallen (Megatronus) Primemaster and the only way you get a Zarak/Scoponok head is in a boxed set.

I don't mind if Full-Tilt turns into his head - though heck I'd welcome that as a 3rd party addition for the G1 toy too.

Weapon: Dark Saber Sword
As far as Unicron goes, maybe we'll just get the 10th billion incarnation of the supreme class, that's just a minor repaint :HEADHURTS:

Nah, but if he does go titan, I just hope that they try to do some different engineering on him. I get that a ball can only turn into a robot in so many ways, it would just be a little tiresome to have another of the same transformation. I do hope that we do still get more city bots and Scorponok to go with Fort Max next), but the titan change could be nice.

As far as the SDCC showcasing though:

Prime Master: Could be interesting, I think Matrix integration with leader(s) is really cool.
Beachcomber: Looks good, but not much interest.
Deluxes: All three look ok, they don't really wow me personally as I don't have much of a connection to them.
Starscream: Depending on his compatibility with other gimmicks, I think he could be really cool. Not necessarily cool enough for me to get him, but cool.
Hot Rod/ Rodimus Prime: I think it's really cool that he goes from voyager to leader, and has a matrix compartment (I'm a sucker for matrix integration). I think what'll determine if I get him or not will be based on whether or not other figures come with their own matrix, which I'm sure they will, and whether or not the Rod-Rodimus transformation is really cool or kind of bland.

Also, I'm just realizing this now, with Primal winning, the chance for beast combiners (i.e Abominus, Predaking, Dinonicousaking?, and Pirhanacon) are all the more likely. Maybe that's why they chose primal to win, or so people seem to think.

I had a cool thought about potential leader class figures. If they do a Thunderclash it would be the perfect way for them to finally make a toy of Hyperdrive. They basically have the same alt mode as is so the cab would be a deluxe Thunderclash and then the trailer armor turns him into Hyperdrive.

Any new Galaxy Shuttle toy ought to be made from a new Armada Jetfire toy, since Armada Jetfire's appearance and transformation were an homage to Galaxy Shuttle.

I think "Main Robot plus small figure representing the human/monster disguise", which we have at least half of here, is a better way of implementing the Pretenders than the shells of old. The shells were perforce bricks and limited the size and functionality of the robots that went in them, and lead to the goofy depiction of Pretenders seen in the Marvel comics.

I don't see the Prime Masters as glorified Energon Chips. I see them as a way of continuing the "Little guys who can sit in the cockpits and man the battlestations" gimmick that Diaclone started, the Headmasters and Powermasters of old revived for a spell, and the modern Titan Masters revived again.

I like the Combiner Jazz. I still want RTS Jazz as a "main" CHUG Jazz (I don't mind the door wings. Jazz's original toy had them, his animation model just doesn't because Floro Dery's bastardizations of Kohara's designs are stupid that way. Same for Optimus' bumper magically becoming a speedo), but we did need a Combiner Jazz (we should have had him all along instead of Prowl and Smokescreen, but Hasbro was being stupid). Still need Sideswipe and Windcharger.
I would have preferred a Dead End retool for Jazz since it was he that Jazz impersonated, but a probable Braver pretool (Likely, given the accessories he's said to be coming with) isn't bad.

Rodimus Prime seems cool on his own, despite basically being a Hasbro version of the Fansproject Protector armor (the fact that unlike Fansproject Hasbro has a grasp of something called aesthetics might have something to do with it). But that's on his own. Within the larger context, he seems a mis-step. That "Evolved" robot mode is almost certainly too large in comparison to Voyagers, so we basically end up with a reversal of the problem '86 Roddy and Galvatron had. Hopefully they at least worked in a base mode. Probably still gonna get him.

I don't mind that the Dreadwing Duo are Deluxes. With the Headmasters shrunken down since HasTak can make the head figures smaller, remakes of the Powermasters don't need to be as big to match them for size.

Regarding that "Who's your Prime" poster and what it might mean, I'm optimistic about that (I'm also laughing at Deathsaurus being "Unknown evil" because what that really means is "We haven't figured out a better replacement name for him yet").
Ultra Magnus could be a proper upsized update to his original toy (As opposed to the Combiner Wars toy, which is about the same size and trades features of the original for articulation and a hammer). That would fit with the evolution gimmick, the helmet+chestplate minijet would go perfectly with Titan Masters/Prime Masters, and give us a modern G1 Magnus that can carry 3-4 Deluxes.
Megatron could evolve into either Super Megatron (where Animated Megatron got most of his design influence from. Including his in-show Cybertronian altmode) from the Return of Convoy manga, or a Leader-class Galvatron (which would mitigate Rodimus Prime's size problem).
Star Saber and Thunderwing, well.. The Brainmaster Leader and Mega Pretender gimmicks tie in perfectly with the "evolution" toy concept much as a straight remake of Ultra Magnus' original toy would.
Hound: Jeep to SUV or big rig.
Arcee: Regular car to car that rivals Cybertron Megsatron's car mode
Shockwave: Gun to big tank or spaceship? Maser tank to bigger tank or spaceship?
Deathsaurus: Small jet or something, to his main form. Yeah, it'd kinda be shoehorning, but he's here because Star Saber is.

Kurona wrote:Unicron's getting his own IDW solo comic in 2018, and POTP is supposed to be the final part of a trilogy. If there was any time for the chaos-bringer to make his Titan debut, it's now.

No. Just, no. :-x
We do not need a Titan-class Unicron. :BANG_HEAD:
We need a Titan-class Scorponok. We have needed one since 1987.
There are no ifs, ands, or buts, about it.
Titan-class Scorponok: Completes the main 4 G1 citybots, fixes the size difference between him and his rival Fortress Maximus that's been an issue ever since their original toys.
Titan-class Unicron: Could kinda maybe eat smaller toys I guess? Also, creates another loose end since we'd then need a Titan-class Primus to go with him, instead of tying up a loose end like Scorponok would.
As far as potential Titan-class toys, Unicron belongs at the bottom of the priority list. The cosmic brothers can wait until after we have first Scorponok (to complete the citybots and finally have one the same size as Fort Max) and Omega Supreme (to go with Devastator).

Unicron can wait for the next movie to get a pricy new Titan-class mold. Until then he can have a redeco of his Armada toy to go with the TLK redeco of his brother.

Yeah, I know this part is a heap of slagged-off negativity. But making a Titan Unicron now would be a Titan-class failure of priorities on Hasbro's part that deserves negativity. It frustrates me.

Aside from the Unicron-instead-of-Scorponok thing, I'm overall optimistic about Power of the Primes. Jazz is a pleasant surprise, the who's Your Prime poster (especially Ultra Magnus) excites me, Rodimus is attractive despite the kibble and size issues, and hopefully there will be a Deluxe Springer and Wreck Gar in it.

Man we totally need Megazarak/Scorponok in this series, and i Disagree about being Unicron as a Titan Class here, Scorponok is mostly my taste [-(

Yes im expecting Scorpion to Jet to Base Modes :-P

We'll get Titan Scorponok eventually -- if not next year then the year after that. I just think that with a Unicron solo coming and this being the climax of a trilogy involving the 13 Primes, then there's a lot of hints that Titan Unicron will be happening. Never said I wanted it - Unicron's up there with Star Saber and IDW Arcee as some of my least favourite characters - just that it looks likely. Predicting and wanting something are two very different things.

With Beachcomber revealed, I can definitely see him being repurposed as Joyride. If they aren't willing to make a new mold.

I think redecoing the Armada mold again would be a better Unicron toy to accompany all that. After all, there's that Primus redeco in need of an opposite number out there right now that at the price TRU is asking will still be on the shelves in 2018 :-P

I like Unicron, myself - he's the TF mythos' force-of-nature "End of the world, Ma!" villain, the unholy abomination of unholy abominations, the ultimate threat.

Comments I forgot to make: Starscream is goofily chunky, and I seriously hope the jet mode example here is badly transformed. And that he is a combiner torso as some are suspecting, otherwise that **** is just bad design. Still, it's a Voyager-class Seeker, so Hasbro has at least finally realized that's a good size for making them at.

Beachcomber is awesome and has me optimistic that PotP will continue to fill out the Generations Legends roster.

This appetizer is overall delicious, I can't wait to see the main course.
WANT:
* Cyb. Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Leader Sentinel Prime sword, shield
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* Leader Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* Cyb. Wing Saber left chestplate (argh)

Yeah, with Beachcomber, Seaspray, Wheelie, Brawn and to an extent Bumblebee this team seems committed to giving us a full collection of Minibots. With the Insecticons and Cassettes out the way, they should be coming pretty quickly -- here's hoping for a proper Warpath and Pipes! :D Man, I wouldn't be surprised to see re-issues of T30 Gears and Swerve either...

Man that starscream looks like it was made with prime skyquake/his brother in mind, if it doesn't get released as them with a new head, I will be severely disappointed - again
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.
