Heh, I went ahead and preordered the Vehicon, anyway. If it does get shipped to them, then I'll have completed F.E. at a reasonable price.

That would be nice. I put in for Cliff myself but Bulkhead is a little to heavy handed for me at the moment... well, to order both anyway. I'd rather have FE Cliff than Bulkhead. Wish I could get both from Takara >__<

Here's to hoping the pre-orders actually come through, unlike Hasbro's...

I can't imagine why anyone would want to pass up FE Voyager Bulkhead if there's any possibility of getting either version for a price they can afford. IMO it's the most brilliant piece of non-Masterpiece HasTak design in the last couple of years.

A number of the other FE's appear to be solid winners, but Bulkhead is just head-and-shoulders above.

easy answer - limited budget - the cost with shipping and taxes would amount to around (maybe a *little* less then) $70 and, personally, I find CJ's FE design far more appealing and I have don't have a big attachment to Bulkhead.

Do I want him? Hell yes. His design is really nice and he's in the top two desires with CJ for FE's I want, but I am not willing (or able) to spend $100+ to get both of them. Not all at once. And, like I said, I like CJ's design more.

What's a "solid win" for you isn't a solid win for everone.

Yea, I had a feeling this was going to happen. Last week, when there was all that news about the UK getting the RID figures early, I knew that Hasbro was going to cancel the rest of the FE figures. The first thing I did upon hearing that news was go to Ebay and find the cheapest listings for Voyager Prime and Bulkhead as well as Deluxe Cliffjumper. I managed to find them for a reasonable price and got them in the mail Wednesday.

Now, if you go on eBay, CJ is approaching 40 bucks, Prime is like 70, and I've seen a few Bulkhead listings for 100 dollars.

I'm surprised no one else came to the conclusion that the FE figures just weren't going to be released when the UK started getting RID figures. Then, when the RID figures started showing up in the U.S., that should have pretty much confirmed that the FE figures were canceled.

It sucks, though. Bulkhead is hands down the best Transformer released in the last few years and Prime and Cliffjumper are also great figures. People keep saying that there's a chance the FE figures will turn up at Ross, TJ Maxx or Marshalls, but I just can't see that happening.

I did. I chose to get the Takara versions (well, I'd already decided to do that with Bulkhead); it appears that this is now the less expensive option, at least for Cliffjumper and Bulkhead.

I have a thought, hopefully someone here will read it and take it seriously;

At the end of the day, are Hasbro and Takara essentially the same company? Like if Hasbro makes good profit on a toy, do takara still financialy benefit, and vice versa? (I may sound thick, but I see this as a valid question ;) )

If so, I have a theory as to a dirty little game they may be playing:

Drum up hype and appetite for FE figures in the west...then cancel them so we all say 'F***k you hasbro, I'm giving Takara my money' For shiny MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE Japanese imports.

Hows that sound? I only think of this because just yesterday I was reading about a problem with anime Blue-Rays. Japan now puts at least a 10 month cap on U.S blue ray releases, because Japanese buyers wised up to how an american release was cheaper for more product. It may be (essentialy) the reverse of what I'm suggesting about the FE figs...but it did give me a new perspective about the games this lot play behind our backs.

I for one, am starting to get concerned about this hobby of mine. Do I really NEED to pay £30-50 for a voyager class toy? IS giving Takara my money showing Hasbro the finger?
Surely I'm only screwing myself over with my own obsessive need to own a toy?
£15-20 from a local toy store peg, sure, why not. I am a collector after all, but this kind of money and insanity for a standard release toy? This isn't the MP line, or a special bot-con set.

I may like the look of the FE figs...but if this is just some ugly trap concocted by the 2 companies, then I think I'll save my money and secure a small victory...

Collector's aren't the main market as a whole. While as individuals one would be spending more money on Takara FE's, if Hasbro FE's were fully released in the US they'd be making more money on the general populace.

Sure, I realise we collectors are not the only, or even soul market, for toys. But the FE's do seem to be geared slightly more toward older fans, right? No?
Still, you have a good point. Unfortunately, it's based within solid common sense...and I'm not sure corporation brainstorming sessions have much of that ;)

I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I'm not a 'corporate conglomerate' basher. But, y'know, they don't seem to be doing themselves any favours.

And, what do you think of my intial question? Are Takara and Hasbro to be classed as 2 seperate companies?

They're different entities. Has and Tak tend to blend their minds together on products but when it comes down to it, they're each in it for themselves.

Ok, thanks for that. I'm no expert, see, and I surely can't (don't want to) get my head around business.
I dunno, this kinda thread is full of folk screaming 'Blow Hasbro, I'll give Takara my wallet!! :BOOM: ' and I couldn't help think that maybe it didn't really matter what company brand is on the box if it all eventually falls into the same pot, regardless of what sub-routes the money may take along the way.

I've succesfully taken the fun out of this for myself haven't I?

eh? I believe that as much as I believe in the boogy monster. If you actually got that answer from a rep and didn't just pull it out your butt to be an a-hole it was more likely because they're annoyed with the question already.

I'm going to the TRU here, they have lots left apparently. Would it be wise to buy one of each?

UPDATE: just went and picked up Starscream Arcee Bumblebee and Cliffjumper. They had voyager Prime and the two pack with Prime and Megatron but I had no money left :P

Well, I feel like an utter sucker but I just bought Optimus and Bulkhead. They ended up being only $10 more than Austrailian RRP, but it still hurts considering they were $20 cheaper only a day ago.
