That would be more TakaraTomy's department, not Hasbro. Though I could see Hasbro redeocing him as "Spark Attack" after the Heroes of Cybertron PVC figurine. :)

Speaking of TakaraTomy, they are releasing Loudmouth aka Siren as Goshooter, in a set with Wheelie. No further Headmaster Jr. have been announced, in fact Nightbeat will be released in Japan as... Nightbeat.

Well, I ama Super-God Masterforce fan, so I would love having a Godbomber and a super sweet Fire Guts God Ginrai repaint. Actuallly, Sentinal Prime is already Fire Guts!

I'm sad that neither Takara nor Hasbro seems to be planning to make figures of the Headmaster Jrs. with bodies. Though the fact that Takara is doing Nightbeat instead of Minerva kinda gives me hope that Takara might make a proper Minerva.

Anybody else think Titans Return Blurr looks decent in vehicle mode, but looks terrible in robot mode?

I know we keep saying that but I dont know if its a given anymore. Think about it, Hasbro gave us Crosscut who was a takara only toy before then and its Hasbro who is giving us CW Liokaiser, not Takara. So a japan only toy can be homaged by Hasbro just the same.

I'll be happy with a Minerva figure, regardless if it comes from Hasbro or Takara. As for Blurr, I don't know why his new figure is a headmaster. Was he ever a headmaster in the Japanese show that aired after the fourth season of the original show (the version we got in America)?

No he wasn't, nor we're about 75% of the figures coming out in this line. It's just the gimmick they decided to go with much like how characters like iron hide, Wheeljack and hound were made into combiners when they traditionally aren't.

I wanted a PMOP remake for years, but don't like this one at all. Remold of a poorly made figure, strike one. Permanently Apex Armored up? I have no nostalgia for Apex Armor, that wasn't part of the toy when I was a kid. Strike two. Headmaster instead of powermaster? Strike three, yer out! :(

But he's not permanently apexed, nor is this a poorly made mold. It has some flaws but it's by no means a bad mold.

They basically took every "-master" with a smaller partner and made them into Headmasters, plain and simple. As you may remember, Blurr, Kup, Hot Rod, Cyclonus and Scourge became Targetmasters in Season 4, so they're fair game.

Yep, I remembered that those characters became target master. Regadless, I will only pick up those that were actually headmasters. I'm quite satisfied with the other versions of those characters that I own and I don't see any reasons to pick up a headmaster Blurr or Rodimus. That being said, Blurr's altmode look quite good and I'm happy there are new molds for those characters. Can't wait to see Hardhead and the others arriving at local retail stores :D

Yeah I didnt get the poorly made comment either. That Magnus achieves what the MP achieved at 1/3 of the cost. It of course had to make due with the hallowness but I find it quite an achievement nonetheless.

Also, the helmet is a nice upgrade from the kibble head we had to deal with in G1 (as with all combiners)

I didnt know that. So that being the case, why is everyone crying foul on hasbro choosing to make them headmasters here again?

Poorly Made Figure? Ultra Magnus is fantastic. He has a couple issues no doubt, but he is by no means poorly made. Sturdy, good transformation, and awesome robot mode.

Optimum Supreme wrote:Permanently Apex Armored up? I have no nostalgia for Apex Armor, that wasn't part of the toy when I was a kid. (

What apex Armor? Just a slightly more detailed chest to match the powermaster chest detail a bit better.

Optimum Supreme wrote:Headmaster instead of powermaster? Strike three, yer out! :(

2 things, expecting a powermaster gimmick in a line devoted exclusively to headmasters is just silly.

What's so attractive about a tiny guy that turns into an engine anyway? How does that add to the playability or actual goodness of the figure in any way?

Beyond that, the mold is quite good in many regards. And the extensive retooling is better. It has very little of Magnus left.

If there's anything that's missing or that I would like to have, is the Truck Cab transform into a smaller Prime.

Hoping for a 3rd party add-on kit.

Beyond that, I think it's a great update.

I think there's a couple reasons for that. First of all, IDW is iirc pretty popular in Japan - and Nightbeat's risen to prominence as a character despite his fellow 1988 Autobot Headmasters - Siren and Loudmouth - mostly being relegated to the background.
A second reason could be that they might want to do an actual Minerva head as the Nightbeat one looks nothing like her. Compare http://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/9/9 ... htbeat.jpg to http://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/a/a ... ekotom.jpg . Even if Titan Master Nightbeat did have closer adherence to the G1 figure Minerva is repainted from, Minerva's face was still significantly altered in the anime as you can see there - a more feminine face and more elongated horns.

And yet, we have Galvatron. I guess he's a... City Commandermaster now.
Commandermaster. I like that.
But yeah while they seem to be making all the 1987 Targetmasters into Headmasters as well, it's not a hard and fast rule as to the entire line. I mean... already, Astrotrain and Sentinel Prime weren't -masters. Or Alpha Trion. Or - going into leaks - Megatron, non-Powermaster Optimus, Doublecross...

For me, the only problem I have with Blurr, Triggerhappy etc. being headmasters - and I've said this a lot and I'm worrying about being a bit of a dick with saying it so much - is that they don't have their targetmaster partners as guns anymore. I'm fine with headmasters being added on as it's easily ignorable and just adds something to the toy; hence why I'm easily cool with Galvatron and Astrotrain. But Hot Rod for instance actively has his gun-former partner taken away from him. It's not just a new addition, it's taking away from something the original toy had - and it's not just a fun little feature that wasn't the focus of the toy like say, CW Onslaught no longer having a base mode; it was the entire gimmick and selling point of the toy.
Thankfully third parties can easily fix it up, but I would have preferred to see Hasbro tackle the targetmasters themselves because the originals admittedly looked a little bland. Pretty much all of them were black and grey and a lot of them had very similar gun designs, so I'd prefer to see a modernized take with more vibrant colours maybe matching that of their larger partners. A hot rod-themed Firebolt, now there's something I'm totally up for...

But their Titanmasters either have the same name as their G1 Targetmasters or the closest equivalent to their G1 Targetmasters name due to trademark/copyright issues.

Chase was a Legends class, not a Titan Master. Also, Krok, an Action Master, was also rumored.

I know they're the same characters, but it's not the same function. That's what's getting at me.
I couldn't give a rat's ass about Blurr's partner Hyperfire. I could give a rat's ass about Blurr having a guy that turns into a gun who happens to be called Hyperfire.

It's especially irking for guys like Triggerhappy, because, like... come on, man, it's literally in the name.

Headmasters
Targetmasters
Powermasters
Monsterbots
Duocons
Throttlebots (rumored)

Basically any group or bot active from 1986-1987 on

Chase (throttlebot) is a legends class so he's not really a titan master.

Wow.. Look how cheap prime looks without being able to position his feet flush against the ground.. For a $45-$50 figure.. That's just bad. A figure of a character clearly aimed at collectors, but built for a 3 year old. That's a shame.

Primes feet can sit flush against the ground just like Magnus' can.

Why can't everybody just be more accepting and optimistic? Oh, that's right, because this is a fandom I'm talking about here. I've completely accepted Titans Return because I think every single figure (except for Blurr) looks amazing. Yeah, there are problems (Blurr), but what Transformers line doesn't have problems or a few dud figures? Not a single Transformers toyline, cartoon, or movie isn't without flaws. I've learned to expect flaws so I'm not constantly complaining when flaws show up. I think you all should try that too. Just remember that not a single thing is perfect. Perfection is something that is 100% impossible to achieve. I'm completely okay with all these characters now being Headmasters. There are many examples of characters being shoved into gimmicks they weren't originally part of even in G1! I just imagine tyem as being like the Japanese fiction where the Titanmaster is the actual character and the body is just a lifeless mech suit. I spent pretty close to about a half-hour typing this. I hope that time I took to type what is basically a speech wasn't wasted.

Out of curiosity, what is so bad about Blurr. He looks fantastic. Or are you just talking about his deco? Cos the figure looks great, alt mode looks great. Takara deco is amazing.

I think you and I would get along quite well in real life. We are of essentially the same mind about many things.
