Man, how long ago was that leak? Do we have leaks for wave 4 and beyond? I know we have a list of all the figures we're getting but the visual cements it for me.


For my part, I preordered TWINFERNO (best new name ever) and Triggerhappy, two characters I had never heard of before (even though apparently at least the former is in MTMTE, I must not be observant) because they look hella dope. I may drop the preorders because shipping is a lot, but I wanted to get them in before they were pre-sold out so I could have time to safely think it over. I still haven't found wave 2 in the wild outside of Walgreens, and speaking of which, I returned to my first two stores today to find that one was completely sold out of deluxe TFs (suggesting that Brainstorm may have come and gone?) while the other had only a single Wolfwire, which I think is close to or the same as it had last week. Only sighting in Georgia I've heard is waaaaay south of me so eh.

Like his Generations deluxe, Black Shadow is going by the name Sky Shadow in his upcoming toy.


Doublecross/Twinferno is in MTMTE, but in the same way Gears and Huffer and Inferno are - essentially a background character that hasn't been shown to do anything. Same with the rest of the Monsterbots... which is strange after Maximum Dinobots.

So I'm pondering (at some point) getting either TR or Legends Blaster, probably the Legends as it's better painted by far and doesn't use that nasty off-grey that Hasbro seems so fond of. That said I'm not sure if I should get him, the FoC Voyager or Unique Toys Soundmixer. I can see pros and cons for each.

FoC:
+Turns into an actual vehicle
+Has the Fakebusker Shapeways kits available instead of the appalling springloaded data discs
+Voyager scale
+Well articulated
-FoC era so plastic/QC could be iffy
-Official "cassettes" suck, Shapeways kits need painting to look good
-Ejection gimmick leaves a huge plunger sticking out his back

Unique Toys:
+Turns into a cute little boombox
+Voyager scale
+Very well articuated
+Good quality
+Neat weapon storage
-Expensive on the aftermarket
-No cassettes that fit him
-Pointless "armour" pieces

TR/LG:
+Turns into a boombox and a dance station
+Headmaster compatibility fun
+Lots of cool fan modes
+Cassette gimmick
+IIRC is possible to be made into a "normal" Transformer without the Headmaster gimmick
-Leader scaled, which would be a bit odd in my collection
-Only cassette really worth having (IMO) is the Rewind mold
-Can only hold one cassette, and not at the same time as the Headmaster-holding cassette...thing

Only voyages have not shown up.

Actually, that is incorrect. It works with PMOP, but with the way the helmet folds into the back, it isn't possible on Blaster.

As for your question, while I can't speak for Soundmixer, I do have both FOC Soundwave and TR Blaster, and Blaster is way better.

I think someone at Hasbro says:

"We've created a new semi truck transformer. We most recolor it into an Optimus Prime."

I can totally see Triggerhappy also being redone into Slugslinger.

Look at how the legs fold up. Looks pretty obvious to me. I can't believe noone mentioned this before on here ESPECIALLY since Slugslinger is meant to go with Triggerhappy and Misfire. Even the transformation scheme is perfect.

Not exactly. You have to remember that Triggerhappy's windshield chest is only made up of a small PART of the windshield, and most of the nosecone folds up on the back. It's an easy retool, and they made it that way so that they could retool it also into Misfire.

Heck, Triggerhappy's vehicle mode actually looks more like Slugslinger's than the g1 Triggerhappy toy's vehicle mode when you look at how the legs fold up.

Again, this is incorrect. Slugslinger's vehicle is an easy thing to make from Triggerhappy's Titans Return vehicle.

I feel it resembles Misfire's a lot more than Slugslinger's, who I think it is intended for.

In any case I do feel it is possible - which I did actually mention a while back - I just don't feel it's immediately obvious and would completely change the figure. Again, the wings go in a completely different place in robot mode.

Hasbro is known for using existing figures to make other characters with slightly different appearances. In fact, having the wings on the backs of the arms would make him look fairly accurate from the front.

Um, Wave 3 is Sixshot (expected in December 2016), and wave 4 is Black Shadow (likely in Feb/March 2017). I don't think Overlord has been officially announced yet, so I have no idea why you would be sure it will be out in Dec 2016/Jan 2017. Was your comment off by a year? Seems like wave 5 (likely May/June 2017) would be the earliest slot he would fit into.

That list was rumor-based, so it's not confirmed official info. Besides Hasbro is known to change its mind on the fly.

If you look at the list so far the figures revealed so far fit into wave 5 (Excluding Brawn) Perhaps there is some validity to the list? The next reveals will tell.
